Sorry for the delay. I only just read that it was up to me now to upload the story. So here is the finished product of branch B2, hopefully working this time. Enjoy!

By the way, Venus is a girl... I wouldn't assume otherwise from the name  ??? and her profile confirms it.
Indeed, I am.

Anyway, I have just finished the story of branch B2 and sent it to Andail. It really is a shame that Jellfish dropped out. Somehow the story seemed to just take off properly and now I had to draw it to a rather abrupt ending which I'm afraid is not exactly top-notch either. I think I completely failed the satire part. But well, it was fun writing...

Hey guys,

I just got back from my trip and just wanted to report back that I have received the story and will add my bit tomorrow.
So, I'm writing the ending now? Oh dear...

I'll report back tomorrow once the thing is done.
Cheers!

Just to let you guys know, I'll be on an unforseen business trip up to and including April 9. I'm still planning to add my part to the story though. So if the story gets to me way before the 9th, please give me a couple of extra hours to add my bit on the 10th.

Thanks

Hehe, that was a nice read.

I'd be up for a second round, no matter what it's gonna look like. I have to second what Stupot said though. Maybe we should first test what we have a little bit more before we start experimenting...

I have received the story and will start working immediately. Thanks voh. I'll edit this post as soon as I've sent it on. I like voh's idea of reporting back once you've received and/or sent a story.

Off to do my bit now...

EDIT 1: Oh my, just read it for the first time. These are gonna be the hardest 200 words of my life.

EDIT 2: Done and sent on to pixelperfect. I wouldn't wanna be in lo-res' shoes... ;D

It hasn't reached me yet, so I guess it's either still with Eggie or voh already has it.
I can't wait to see this thing...

@voh: Can you please send the story to another email address, since I can't check the one I posted here earlier very frequently at the moment? I'll pm you the new one in a minute.

Count me in, too.

Another good way if you wanna practice writing in German would be to register at www.studivz.net

It's basically the German equivalent to facebook and it seems like every German student has an account there (me included  ;)). There are groups (and therefore forums) for like every topic imaginable.
I spend way too much time there...

You should really enter this little masterpiece in the game database. I want to officially give it top scores in all categories.
Ok, found it. I was trying to get to it using Eshaktaar's profile and didn't bother checking the database myself. Thanks tube. I have now given it top scores in all categories  ;D

I just finished playing the German version and will soon replay in English just to see how well the jokes translated. You did an amazing job on the game. Congrats and thanks  :-*

I have some webspace with 1&1.de and at least there they start charging you additional money when you have exceeded your traffic limit and that's really expensive, so you might wanna make sure that it is actually enough for the kind of site you want to have...

Nacho, you're the best!
I'll meet the student in about 12 hours and I'll happily grant you all of these 720 minutes  ;).
You have no idea how relieved I am to have found someone to help me. So thanks in advance and if the two of us ever meet at Brittens/Mittens/whatever I'll definitely buy you the biggest possible drink of your choice.

EDIT: Wow, that was fast. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Even I could tell with my non-existent Spanish skills that the last paragraph was not a translation of anything I wrote. I'll leave it in anyway. Did I mention that she weighs about 300 pounds?  ;D

Hello fellow AGSers,

I have a kind of emergency and am in desperate need for some help with a translation from English to Spanish.
I work at my university at the office of international relations and take care of the students coming to the university with the Erasmus exchange programme. I've just received a call from my boss that a student has arrived from Spain who has absolutely no idea what to do next, but apparently only understands Spanish and unfortunately, no one at the office does. The problem now is that I have to meet her tomorrow morning and try to explain what she has to do next.
And this is where you guys come in. I would be eternally grateful if someone could translate the following short text into Spanish for me, so that I have a least something to give to her tomorrow:

"First of all, welcome to the University of Dortmund. Unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish so if you have any more questions I won't be able to answer them straight away, but I'm trying to contact the other Erasmus students from Spain to help you. So don't worry, I'm working on it.
The first and most important thing you have to do now is to register at the university of Dortmund. You can do this here, at the Office of International Relations, with me. You only have to bring a certificate of a German health insurance company. You can get this at one of the two insurance companies on campus, the AOK and the TK. Ask for a "Versicherungsbescheinigung" and make sure to bring an EU health insurance card or the form E111 from your health insurance company at home.
Everything else will be explained to you once I have found someone to translate for us.
I'll write you an email as soon as I have arranged everything, so please be sure to check your mail every now and again during the next couple of days. You can do so at the free terminals of the university (for example in the Audimax, Hörsaalgebäude II or the library).
Now don't worry and enjoy your first days here!"

As I said, if someone could help me out, even with small parts of the above text translated to Spanish, I would be most grateful.

Whee, thanks!
Never would have expected winning with all the other great entries.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty short on time and completely out of ideas at the moment, so if any of you other participants wants to step in and start the next round, just send me a pm. I'd be eternally grateful  :D.

Great entries everyone. Now I gotta go and play Lemmings again...

General Discussion / Re: Expressing Atheism
Wed 01/08/2007 22:38:24
I'm an atheist and so totally support MrC's argument on this whole proof debate, but would like to add that science (and we are applying scientific methods to prove something, right?) does not work as most religious people would like it to.

If a scientist makes a claim, the others who disagree do not have to provide evidence that he is wrong. It is the one making the claim that has to bring forward proofs. What the disagreeing scientists then do is checking whether these proofs are indeed solid. This is something that can be tested. If those presented proofs turn out to be null and void, then the claim has no backing up and is therefore not accepted. If you make a claim, you got to provide evidence. If that evidence crumbles and does not withstand testing, your claim is worth nothing.

I'm still waiting for religions to present evidence for the existence of God that don't fall to pieces the moment they are scientifically tested. Until then, I'll just lean back comfortably without having to disprove some (in my opinion absurd) claim (because that would lead to the situation MrC and LimpingFish described). You can't disprove claims. You can just provide evidence for them and these, in order to make the claim valid, have to withstand scientific tests. And the "evidence" presented by religious people/groups/whatever don't.

EDIT: Fixed some typos...

I love the face. The mouth is perfect imo.
But I have to agree to Stupot. The walk-cycle really looks rather feminine, especially when the face is not visible. Maybe some slightly longer steps and a tad more bobbing?
But apart from that, it's great. Looking forward to that new game of yours.  :D

No. Does it?

I've had that problem, too. Had to go back to an earlier savegame to finish the game...
Apart from that nice game.

I'm not saying your voice is a weak link. There are just a lot of different things going on at once with the vocals that make it seem, not bad, just out of place. Your accent on top of some little intonation issues, doubled and panned, with melody that  changes pace. It's a lot happening, and not a lot of time to take it all in. Not saying that it's all bad, but it just sounds bad. It's sort of like everyone soloing at once. They all may be awesome solos, but if they're not doing close to the same thing at the same time, there are some misplaced notes and "accidentals" that are a pain to the ear.

I absolutely do NOT agree to that. I totally love your voice on this track, Andail, and would urge you not to change it. For me the way you sing it creates the whole charm of the song. It makes it unusual, unconventional and a bit whacky, but everything in a very good way imo. I agree that the arrangement could use some more work, but apart from that I have absolutely nothing to complain about. I'd love to hear more from you as I'm listening to this one practically non-stop. Keep it up!  :D
