General Discussion / Re: So what did I miss?

True it was a rather open ended question, was just a random pixel artist on the forum, still good to recognize a few names form back then. Just recently been reminiscing on the old school adventures from Dave and Fransisco's games on Steam. Thought I'd pop in and see what's been happening.

A general tip for drawing symmetrically is to flip over the paper once in a while and look at the drawing backwards.  It will really help point out the inconsistencies that your eye misses because it's so used to seeing the picture a certain way :)

I learned this the hard way lol :P awesome advice Mash!

http://www.gamingw.net/view/70310/Adventure+Game+Studio

I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion is on the Top 10 AGS Games :) If we wanted to showcase AGS in all its splendor. (Whats your Personal top 10)

I'll list mine as soon as I make my list. :)

:( No love for Ben Jordan or The Apprenctice series... No Love for Blackwell.

I pooh-pooh your list!

Hehe ambientcoffeecup did say it was a personal list... and each to his/her own.

I do However agree that the top ten list should look a little different. :)

Seriously I have round about 35-40 game ideas (adventure) I would say about 60% of them are mere overviews and ideas that I have noted as to where I want to go with them. (Also the doodles for them included I normally end up sketching at least one or two bg's and some characters) so they have that too.

The Ideas are merely on hold.

The rest is slightly more developed the story has been drafted and /or re drafted and loads of sketches drawings etc have been made. I update these as the creative mood strikes me, and I only work on them when I'm in the zone for that specific story etc.

I have a handful where i have story boarded the everything and just needed to start creating the game... but some other title always gets the attention. Anyway I "shelve" and "unshelve" my ideas frequently as the mood strikes me to work on them.

My latest game ideas are more arcade and action based, and I've been coding on them most of my free time. Trying to get working prototypes of them up and running, once again multiple games... which sorta help me not to get bored but also spreads my time way to fin to finish them in a reasonable space of time.

Anyway, just work on your ideas, over time you can see what you want to trash and don't want to trash. Just be patient, keep writing keep at it, etc. I say go and make your comedy Star Wars game why not. If anything else you would have gone through the whole game making process and built up more experience than allot of people so when that Great idea comes forth you are better equip to handle it!

I'm going to disagree with the following:

Quote from: Zufub on Fri 21/03/2008 17:33:53
3. Graphic isn't important.
5. Try to make something oryginall.

Point 3: that's an old dogma that many people regurgitate. Graphics may not be the most important thing in a game but that doesn't mean they are not important at all.
Point 5: original doesn't automatically mean good. Simply make something that is enjoyable(for you) to play, doesn't matter if we have seen it before.

I second that motion.
