yes, dont worry, the english in the game is approved, and sorry for my bad english.
the graphics and movies were made in 3dsmax, (sometimes modo), and compositing in combustion.
in a few months the official website goes online, and there you can go in the "making of" gallery to view some wireframes.

@mordalles

do you really think, i am arrogant ?  :-*
to answer your question: No, i have not played prodigal. but i have played almost all of the sierra adventures, lucasfilm-games, and square games (ff6-ff10, even the old ones, secret of mana/ everquest, and many many more. my first one was larry 1, and my last ff10. I'm an old adventure-junkee  ;D
maybe our story is not the best in game history, but trust me, it worth to get a look inside, when its ready.
And i am not arrogant, but want to promotion our game  ;)

the interface ? i think you saw the old one on page 1 of this thread. its gone. we decided to make a small interface wich is normaly hidden, it pops out when the mousecursor goes on top of screen, will post a screenshot in a few days.
by the way, all of the screens on page 1 and 2 where totaly reworked.

@greyarea
the story is mindblowing. We did the game, because we have a really good story, perhaps one of the best in game history ever. That is why we try to make a game with nice graphics because our story needs a good enviroment and realistic animations to make the whole game more emotional, the player must feel the game !

combined double post - please do not do that!

hi,
long time has passed and now we present some new stuff and informations.
The game is still in progress, and it looks more beautiful now.
At this time, we show a few new shots from the intro and trailer of the game. (no screenshots from gameplay, only video-sequences) and some sound examples from the game (not in full quality, only medium, and no full tracks, only parts (dont want to spoil too much) with one exeption : the track of the menu (loop).
We are working on a teaser and a trailer from the game, the teaser will come in "round about" 2-3 month then some time later the trailer will follow.
Our Website from the game is still in progress, too, but stay tuned  ;)
Some facts :
it will be an epic game and will took many hours to complete.
about 15 minutes from 30 minutes of video-sequences are (almost) finished.(in highres 1024x554)
The game will have about 200 rooms. (yes, its a big game)
the soundtrack is epic, orchestral and powerful.
scripting is still in beginning yet, because we focused more on grafics, sounds and videos.
The whole game will have speech, in english and opt. in german.
and it will come probably on two DVD's

here are the sound examples...

have fun and get ready for the teaser....

Quote"you are so wrong"

as you said: different folks, different strokes " :-)

besides, we are only two people (one for the story and riddles, and me, for the graphics, movies, scripting and designs) ! and we spend three years into the game because a good story needs time.!

you said:
Quote"All the feedback I have received has been positive.Ã,  The one word that I hear continually is "Fun".Ã,  Is that not what a game is supposed to be?Ã,  I have spent $20.00 on a 40 hour game that was bug filled and spent my whole playtime walking around and getting frustrated.Ã,  I would much rather pay $15.00 for a game that was fun and memorable."

i know what you mean and you are absolutly right with that. still i think the icons in your game kills the atmosphere. anyway, i think your game is a nice work, but not ready for commercial.

keep up the good work--

Completed Game Announcements / to much

hi ghostlady,

i saw the screenshots  and i have read the thread about your game. nice work, but not really worth 15 $ I think. the screens could have more shadow-detail... they seems too flat. sad about the icons, they could have a (ghostly) design, not the standard from ags. i like the ghosts (nice transparency)
. at last, i would play it, it looks interesting, but i would not pay 15 $ for an unfinished game (icons).
We are making a game "noah" in ags too, and we still thinking about it to make it commercial, but we dont wont you to pay for it. but, as you say, good graphics and sound are not cheap, and if we spend money in our game, it would be nice to get it back when its finished. We had spend very much tiime in the game and we will spend another year to finish it, because we have about 150 rooms and 30 hours of gameplay. 15-20 minutes of videos sequences take also a lot of our time.
3 years of production, and if we decide to make it commercial, it will cost not more than 10$.

remember, a very good game with a very low price will get more popular because more people will play it. take 15 $ for your game and only 20 people will buy it = 300$. but take 2 $ for it and 1000 people will buy it = 2000$  :-)

anyway, very good luck with selling your game...

greetings,

thank you for all the great feedback :-)

okay, why  making an adventure game for free to everyone ?
first thing to say is that we two are very big fans from the good old adventure games. my first adventure-game was "leisure suit larry 1" (ken sent me) ;-))
i was twelve or thirteen years old and i had to answer all 3 questions to get in the game because i actually did'nt known the "alt-X" support :-)
in this period of life i learned english, because the games language was only available in english that time and i had to play that game with a english-german dictionary. now, 17 years later, we have the ability to make an adventure by ourselves, we want to make a game like the god old adventures, mixed with some myst-style elements/riddles (remember myst/riven/exile ?) but not so technical, more fantasy like. we have beautiful graphics,  stunning videos (hopefully), very good music and a great story, but its secret for the moment. :-))

anyway, what was the question ? why we are making it for free ?
perhaps more of you will play the game, BECAUSE it is FREE ! download it with your standard broadband connection (about 1 GB with all the videos) right on your big harddrive and enjoy *lol* :-)
...
or..
perhaps because we can do this...!!!

why is AGS for free ?? Why did chris jones such a thing ? he could be rich now !.......do you see ?

more to come...

the game is free...and all of the videos...are free to...maybe.... we will see...

hi everywere,

ok, we've changed the look a little bit, because we had to paint every texture by hand and it took to much of our time.
so we decided to take our digicam and make photographical textures instead. we are sorry to loose the hand-painted look, it's now more
rendered look like...but we can work faster and one screen take about 4-8 hours instead of 2-4 days...
hope you like it also...

take a look at some of the new screens...

greetings...

AGS Games in Production / more about "Noah"
Mon 09/05/2005 04:21:37
hi,

thank you all for your great feedback about the first screenshots from Noah...
...but there wer not finished yet... much more to do...
well, we now have about 30 rooms in progress, a few of them really finished...
and we need to set up about 130 rooms...
a lot todo... (dont mention intro, cutscenes and endind, wich are very much work in designing the world, light and camera setups, creating 30 characters and about 20 different animal-species and so on...)

the next weeks i will post more screens and more informations about the game and the story ....

one of the very finished screens from the ingame grafik (scroll-screen)
"Noahs home"

...and one of the character-designs for the rendered fmv-cutscenes, the ingame grafik is a little bit different (lower resolution)
"Treefairy -fell-"

Someone asked about the price for that game when its finished :-)
The answer is : the game and speechpack will be free to download but you will have to spend 1 $ if you want to download all the videos for the cutscenes. (about 20 minutes videos)
sorry about that, but we will have to invest some money in that game (soundtrack and compositing)....
but I'm not really sure about that now...
but i promise. the rendervideos will be better than some commercial games....
:-)

greetings....

AGS Games in Production / "Noah" in production
Sun 24/04/2005 07:08:13
we are proud to show the first few screenshots of our game called "Noah" wich will be finished about in winter 2006, (hope so)...

the story is about a boy who need to rescue the wife from the watergod who is trapped in a giant fish...(trapped is the wrong word for it.. she was cursed to be the giant fish) <---- the very short  version, there is much more story in there...
the whole story played only at one day (but sure you will need much more time to finish the game)
its kind of a fantasy game. and it will come up with about 15 minutes of fantastic fmv-sequences wich are intro, cutscenes, ending & alternate ending, all rendered in high-quality dvd-resolution... (all characters and environtments  are modeled and animated in 3dsmax, compositing from the renderings in combustion)

more informations will come.....stay tuned ;-)

greetings,
