I really loved this game. Great work.

Voting is over and the winner is:
Signal Loss by Brewton (not Breton, sorry for the typo)
Well done mate. I’ll be in touch soon about setting the theme for March.
Quote from: Racoon on Wed 02/02/2022 21:37:04I've yet to play yours, but I'll do so before voting ends.
Finished your game today brewton and enjoyed it a lot. I like the dark humor. I wished it was a little bit longer though, but I know that it is difficult enough to put a game together in a month as it is.
Also i wonder if it has multiple endings becauseSpoiler
I did not use the sodacan and wonder if it has a purpose[close]
Quote from: fernewelten on Sat 05/02/2022 20:03:22You're right, that's where I saw it. I forgot all about that site.Quote from: brewton on Sat 05/02/2022 15:38:42
on the list at https://itch.io/jams
As far as I know, this list is for game jams hosted with itch, which MAGS isn't. However, I'm seeing MAGS regularly on indiegamejams.com. These jams aren't culled from the Internet automatically, so there must be some diligent and dutiful AGSer that takes the time to enter the MAGS of each month, each month. 👍🏼

Hey Brewton, can you pass the address of that here? Is Galen the owner? I am thinking, perhaps we could even switch links from the old server from dasjoe to there and be done.
If you could, then it should be possible to link some redirect or alternatively update the page here:
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/community/irc/
I think Roger source code is somewhere in Gurok repositories btw.

Come join club galen then, it's a splinter irc from ags irc and the connect is irc.clubgalen.com (the chan is called #clubgalen)
The original ags irc fell off in activity after the split anyway, this is a good way to join people back up.

dasjoe, who hosts / hosted the IRC server, hasn't been a regular AGS user in years. I'm surprised it lasted even this long. I've sent him a message, we'll see if he responds.
The vast majority of people moved to Discord years ago though.
Quote from: CaptainD on Wed 02/02/2022 09:59:19Oops! I've changed it to 'mild', considering it's pretty much a single incidence of profanity and implied violence.
Might be an idea to update the language and violence ratings on the AGS games page as they both say "none" atm
Quote from: Kastchey on Sat 29/01/2022 19:28:12Yes, though obviously the real JWST works nothing like it does in the game, and the real JWST crew consists of far, far more than three people.
Space telescope, awesome! I had a similar idea, obviously inspired by the James Webb launch.
Looking forward to playing the game!

If someone else does what I do, and sometimes check out events of yesteryear, you will probably find out that some of those small event or competition games are missing from the database.
The 24 hours of AGS contest (from 2017) had six entries, but three of them aren't in the database:
Like a Fox
Lydia
CyberJACK
Now, there are some working links to be found in the game's thread, but you can find all (six) of them here if you want to play some fun shorties.

I just want to avoid someone who's not invested in AGS and its community to co-moderate. But if anyone's interested, just let me know. In the meantime, it *is* quiet over there. But I'm also not sure what "purpose" Reddit serves. We have a really nice forum community over here. I see the appeal of Discord (live chat). But Reddit is in effect just another forum. So it's likely to stay quiet, is my guess!
Quote from: eri0o on Tue 23/02/2021 00:42:51I appreciate this but I'm not sure how to use it. Do I just drop it in the root folder?
Hey, if you want a gitignore for AGS to help avoid adding some binaries on source control, there's one here .gitignore
QuoteI don't understand the need for the gems at right in the template. That's fair. They don't really do anything. I should pull them out. They were mostly there as reference to the original game.
QuoteIt's also a bit weird that some parts of the menu are skinned and others are not.Do you mean the options menu? I used the save/quit/restore game menus from the BASS template. I could make them uniform if that is preferred.
QuoteI don't understand much of the intellectual property note you added, but I would recommend either redrawing or using public domain or other creative commons assets from a website like opengameart.org.Just making sure you're talking about the template and not the compiled demo game. The demo game is more to show off 'look what it can do', while the template game is a 'here, now you do it' kind of thing.
QuoteIf you don't have strong reasons to have audio in the template, I would avoid having them there, unless you really mean to have them in a place with some comments for the game developer to modify them. Same notes regarding copyright for the graphics apply to the sound.Already pulled the audio files from the template. The only thing that's left is a public domain 'click' sound from freesound.org.
QuoteI don't understand much what are the said implications about the walk behind, but the drop and grab of itens appear to work. It's to stop items from being dropped in areas that would prevent the player from picking them up again - like behind a tree.
QuoteI also noted you actually made a manual but you didn't store it's source or mentioned it in the thread.Ah, yeah. I didn't see the format thread until after I had posted. I'll reformat it all soon, though I did include a link to the documentation at the bottom: https://github.com/brewtonian/ags_kyrandia/blob/master/documentation.pdf

I'm reading it now... finding it interesting but a little... "clunky" is the only way I can describe it.
Have you read "Steel Beach" by John Varley?
I recently recommended it to Yahtzee when he said he had run out of books to read and lamented at how few and far between good sci-fi comedy books were to find.
Dunno if he is reading it but I'm re-reading it and having a great time!
