Oh,I hadnt thought about those surcharges. At least, people that pay in the same currency as the recipient's country, can skip paypal etc. Paypal may put all the money on hold, including all the non-foreign payments.

Oh well, see which you like, I just put it out there.

All,

I checked yesterday and found out that , with current IBAN, it is possible to effortlessly (fairly) transfer money direct to  someone's bank account. So no more mucking about with Paypal needed (though that does offer its own benefits. Of course, the bank may be legally forced to hold back large payments (or many payments of small amounts), and/or report them to the government), vut for transoceanic (e.g. transatlantic) bank transfers, all you need is the IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and the BIC (Bank Interchange Code)

Thought I'd mention it now, waaay before Mittens, just so you know.

I've been to New Orleans pre- Katrina, and I loved it! (even though there were rumours about crime rates there (ie walking outside of the popular (busy/crowded!) main street) late in the evening. NO was more of a late night bar attraction to me.

Thank you Mark, as if ayone needed reminding of that! :~(  BTW, that would be a bit difficult to do, since I won't be driving the plane or train this year.

BTW, I asked he rental company, and they (Francis) said the closest station was called Sintra, it was also the end of the line. Couldn't be easier!

BTW2: Would everyone please remember to bring prizes for the pub quiz? I'll bring a few DVDs myself.

This is so cool, people!
BTW for anyone interested, my flight to Lisbon has number LH1792 and lands at 21:40 Lisbon airport at (if all goes well), let us hope so, or at least me.

Oh dear Cassie, are yuo a vegetarian too? I already knew about Disco, Bicilotti and Miez, they would not like to dine there!
(To be frank, I would.)

This flight was cheapest and offered the best times.
Where do you fly from?
#11
Whoops, I thought it meant Amsterdam.
But look at it like this: if I'm coming from the Bahamas to Portugal that must mean that I have great hopes for Mittens, right? :)
I'll be arriving at 21:40 -

I know, bummer that it is so late, hopefully I'll be awake enough coming uot of the plane (and able to not fall asleep in the taxi)

Thinking about that again, wouldn't it be convenient if we had a street address to get to?

Also, how about everyone sharing their mobile phone numbers (incl. country code), so we can contact each other if we need to.

shall we do that on the forum (where every search engine can find it)?, or shall someone collate all the numbers and send the list to everyone?

Catarina, you'll be delighted to kow that I've just paid Bernhard (and by extension, you).

Darn, I was hoping to go by train, but as I cannot book directly from ASD to LIS (only by transfer via Paris - and trains from Paris to Lissabon seemed fully booked) so I've only now just boooked the flight to ASD-MUC-LIS.

BTW does anyone know the street address for Sintra Manor? (so I can tell the cabby)

I was going to convert the text from http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g189164-i1529-k6140832-Easy_transfer_from_Lisbon_airport_directly_to_Sintra-Sintra_Sintra_Municipality_Lisbon_Dist.html
to an epub, easier to take with me on my phone as I went from  Lisbon airport to Sintra, Note that this does not include the exact route to the mansion, only to the town of Sintra, I'm hoping to rectify that someday soon.
Anyway, books need covers right? So I thought I'd look for the image of a big blue cup for a cover (seemed appriopriate), when I entered that into Blekko, I got lots of different cups, including this one:

And for your reading pleasure here's the epub+odt (in a 7z):

Welcome, violetnotpurple! Oh, and of course, I would be delighted to attend this year! No clashes with saddening concerts/festivals for me ;-)

But please do take one with pool!
AS for the time - needn't be in the middle of ummer (hot + pricey) as I don't have any school going children I want to take with me. (or which I want leave at home, FTM)

I'm waiting to board my flight. See you all soon!
The pilot is now waiting for you to turn off electronics so the plane can take off!

Wish I'd be there!

OK, I'll stay home (again...) if you guys and galls promise to have a ball without me!

Awww, missing Mittens is bad enough as it is, but Mittens in California must have some extra special cachet!

Just a quick tip for any-non-Americans (who complained about the heat in Florida): the most pleasant climate in all of the US is to be experienced in the autumn, or in San Francisco (all year round), so bring deodorant, or it will be a rerun of MiaMittens in that respect.

Have fun all!

I just bought this game on the strength of the demo: good puzzles which weren't too hard but yet challenging. I've rarely had too look at the walkthrough... Which might mean that the puzzles are too easy as I often have to play with walkthroughs... Great work, guys! (and congrats!)

Just finish the game, OK?it looks so mucch like MI1 & MI2 (plus it has a cool plot) that I want to play!

When I was a tike, and having a PC was still the exception, for years I've thought that me and my little circle of friends were quite unique (and nerdy) for owning a PC - the nerdy bit was probably very true, but the uniqueness wasn't, I've played KQ - mostly just walking the little guy aroundusing the arrow keys, getting chased by the witch and wondering why I couldn't just shoot the bitch off her broom with a lasergsun, like in a "proper" game - there wasn't even a car or a racetrack in the forest. It never dawned on me that it was a puzzle game hence I never got far, and I always got killed by the witch.
Here's a game I recall reading about when I was older than in my KQ-days, I'm still  curious about it: http://www.lbahq.com/

Here's a game that I played too much: Remember how in Castle Wolfenstein 3D you could push walls and some of them would slide back to reveal a hidden room with weapons etc? It got to the point that, when I closed my eyes, I would see chunks of wall sliding back. That's when I told myself I had to cut back playing the game. Luckily, my brain quickly reverted to portraying the normal images after that. in art because soon after, Doom was released, without sliding walls. A much better game to play.

Oh, and I've never played LSL or PQ.

Oh, and I've played 13 days (I think that's the one), but I didn't finish it (is it actually possible to?)
