Critics' Lounge / Re: C&C for a character

I really like the new style of shading, and I think it fits perfectly. Nice work!

What bugs me now though is that once the lighter shade on her shirt was removed her breasts kind of looks like orbs attached to the sides of her torso. I think it might be how the darker shade frames the lighter shade on the breasts, but I'm not sure what would make it look better. Maybe make the lighter shade go a little further upwards?

Also, you might wanna make the lips a little less brownish.

Other than that, I'm really impressed! It's such a huge improvement over the original.

Waiting for this game is going to make me ant-sy! I think it's a great sprite and a lovely design. Keep up the good work!

Critics' Lounge / Let's critique this site!

Hey people, what's up?
I've just finished making the first version of a website I've been working on for a while. I just started studying web design at school and figured a good way to learn would be creating a site for someone else, and not just for myself. Well, my brother, who is a comic artist as well as an illustrator, mentioned he wanted a website, so I made one for him.

http://www.tricke.se/

I'd love some comments and suggestions on how to improve it. Design, features, navigation, anything would be really helpful. I'm not the one who made the art, but I'm sure my brother would like to hear some comments on that too. Obviously the site is in Swedish, so you won't understand much of it, but I think navigating it shouldn't be too hard. To make it easier, I can translate the main menu for ya:

Home

Art
Comics
Illustrations
Contact
The artist

To view one of the comics in full, simply click the small version. Thanks a bunch!

You sure that's a beard? Looks more like som kind of mask to me. Could be wrong tough, it's a little blurry.

Well, I can' say much about your technique, but I CAN say; that's definitely not a bunny. That's the dog from Retarded Animal Babies

Okay, so here's the latest version, in all its highlighted glory!

It finally looks like an orb! And I think the legs certainly look better with the added shading too. I really had no idea how to place the highlights so I just tried to place 'em where they looked good. I think it worked out neatly in the end though. Thanks a bunch!

I think he's tickling it.

I'm scared!!

:) This is a lovely sprite though, well done!

Hahah, you never know  ;D
Thanks! It's definitely exceeded my expectations, so I'm more than satisfied! I just hope I can keep this up so I can manage to make a game out of this.

I couldn't resist trying to animate it, so here you go  ;D

Thank you so much for your suggestions, they really helped! I'm just amazed how much a work can improve with a few small changes that you're blind to until someone else points them out. Here's the latest version:

Changed the head, the legs and tried to improve the overall shading. Made the belt smaller and also enlarged the orb. I think this is an improvement but I'll leave that for the experts to decide  :)

I'm still unhappy with the orb though. It stands out more now but I can't quite get it to look orbish. Any ideas?

Wow, now that's some good atmosphere right there. Quite an improvement!
However, the light cast by the lamp still looks a bit odd in my opinion. It's not like I'm an expert or anything, so you really shouldn't be listening to me, but it looks kind of weird how it only casts a very dim light on the ground beneath it and how it doesn't effect the coloring of the area around it. It just looks like a yellow ball instead of a lamp.

Hiya guys! Just another new amateur walking in, hopefully won't cause too many problems.
I've been thinking of doing an adventure game for quite some time now, but as I know I really can't draw at all, I've been afraid to sit down and try. Well I recently worked up the courage to make some shitty art, and ended up with this concept of a main character.

Latest version:

I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how to improve it! His head tunred out really, really bad, but I couldn't find a way to make it look better. It's meant to be kinda tube-shaped. The thing in his chest is supposed to be a shiny black orb with a green tint.

I did some basic shading and it certainly looks better with than without, but I still think it looks kind of flat.
Anyways! I'm looking forward to reading your posts  :)
