The humans look pretty boring/geeky.
But that might be a good thing.
The blonde dude looks like a brittish pessimist, sort of like C3PO.
Would be cool if he had a really nasal voice and always complained about things in an amusing manor. ;D

I'd suggest making the baldie into more of a pirate captain-style guy. Sort of like the "Yaarrr"-character in Simpsons. ;)

Perfect! I love the way how the baritones coordinate with the G majors scales, and the way the third beat note overlaps the #F major.

(....I'm just kidding, I don't have a clue what I'm talking bout ;))

No, quite simply: You nailed the feeling perfectly. At first I thought it was kinda boring but then after a while you get it.
Good song!

It's a bit too slow and chugging.
Speed it up!

Looks great. Just have 4 things I wanna ask

1.What's the part of the room with the door supposed to be?
It looks like it's a round, futuristic elevator-tube that you walk into and get "sucked" up to the next floor.

2. Isn't WC-door a fiew pixels too narrow?

3. Shouldn't the desk and first and foremost the closet have a bit darker colour and some more shading? The closet looks kinda unappealing right now.

4. The white frame around the kitchen door looks ugly. Change the colour to something darker. (Okay that wasn't a question..)

Gas station Looks awesome! Even better than the house. Fits the style perfectly.

Old fence Looks more funny and cartoonish than the new one. Reckon it fits best with the style. Keep it. But add the wooden poles from the new fence.

New fence: Those wooden poles look nice, but the amount of boards in the fence gives it a cluttered look.
If you gave the wood in this new one a more natural color, and didn't have so much contrast between the boards, then it might look better.

Trees: The new one is cooler but if you want to keep things really simplistic it might be a bit too detailed.
The old one had a fun "childish" minimalistic feel to it.
But the new one is probobly better anyway.

The van windows: redo them so that they look like the ones in the gas station

He's leaning a bit too much forward.
Should go 1-2 pixels more back.

And also, he should crouch a bit when he's leaning the most forward and backward.

"bopping" up and down is included in almost every battle animation.
Just moving sideways looks kinda wierd.

Awesome!
It looks even better after you look at it for a while.

But I have one complaint:
That big thing in the center of the room is the least awesome looking thing in the room.
The desk and the cabinet looks much cooler.

But I think players won't notice that.
The big machine takes too much focus.

So if possible I'd reccomend placing the machine a bit more to the side of the room.

...But this is just a minor nit-picking, and I guess it would be an awful lot of work to rearrange the room so don't bother ;)

But I would reccomend that you made the chalkboard and things on the table something for the player to interact with.
It would be a shame to let those good graphics go by unnoticed.

Agree.

And about the tree:
*The wood needs a darker colour.
*The leaves right now looks like 3 balls (hmm can't find the proper word) of ice cream
2 small round balls to left and right, and 1 large oval ball in the middle.

Would look better if you made that large one in to two smaller and rounder ones.

Whaaaaaaaaa? ???
Czar has got to be kidding.

How the hell could he have missed one of most celebrated adventure game ever?
Almost every single game magazine I've read has it among it's top 10 games of all time.
The biggest Swedish PC Gamer has claimed it to be the best game ever since it came out.
Grim Fandango ROCKS!

Hmm when I looked at the original sprite I thought it should be a hovering ghost
(with the bottom part fluttering extremely fast like it's a piece of cloth in hard wind)

Think that would be cooler than a slime blob.
But since you've already gone down the slime path might as well stick with it.
The current animation looks good

....but since this is the critics lounge:
Don't think it's slimey enough!
Looks like a person trapped in a green plastic bag trying to walk.

I think he should have much less of a normal waliking animation, and more of a gliding and sliding animation.
Like he's a jelly blob on a soapy floor.

The tree looks great.
If you neeed to change it (which you don't) make the leave-part less oval and more round.
Perhaps a bit higher.
The bottom part of the leaves looks great, it's the top that might need some polishing.

I like the minimalistic look.
But if you do decied to make it more detailed I'd suggest some holes in the fence and a couple of windows.

The best thing about the picture is the chimney.
You should try to make another detail that looks as funny as that.
And perhaps draw a rock or a bush or something, cause the lawn looks a bit too empty.

Hehe, ok ok I get it. ;)
And I agree. Looks kinda wierd.
The problem is we've tried redrawing the fella a couple of times and he always ends up looking even more crappy than before.Ã,  :P

Right, on another note now: How's the black n white looking?
Here's some coloured pics to compare with:

What do ye prefer? B&W or full colour?

(Haha, well I guess it's not very noir if it's in full color...
That's my opinion anyway. But the rest of the team says the black n white is boring.
So we'll leave it up to you to decide)

Bwahahaha a fun 1 minute game.

Think it was kinda cool actually, -I like unpretentious games.
And the mix of photos and cartoons were nice.

All the images are actually the same size. ;)
I just made two of them bigger here since you couldn't see the details otherwise...
So I'll have no probls with the scaling.

Yeah,   I know consistency usually is kinda important.
But it also might be fun to twist things around a bit and do the opposite.
I'm considering doing all the cutscenes in the style that citizeneman liked, and then the rest of the game in the other style.

Whaddaya think?
I'm considering putting all of this into the same game and want some opinions.

How's the Sin City style looking? (The original art was in full color but I thought this looked more unique)
Does the pixelated main character look too crappy?
Is it too wierd to mix more realistic style with cartooned ones? Should I make two separate games instead?
What images do you like best?

Hey, we've gotta keep some things secret, dude!

Yeah, we haven't done much for the last couple of weeks because of lack of inspiration and lack of time.
But I hope we can do something about it...my inspiration got renewed when I looked at this little art compilation.

After seeing all the other amazing looking games in here I feel kinda embarrased about posting this.
But I'll give it a shot anyway.

Here's some art (sorry bout the diffrent sizes :P):

Kinda mixed graphical styles, I know. ;D
But this is not a very serious project.

Story
...Something is rotten in the land of Bolbania... And it's more than just teeth.
You play as the detective, trying to figure out what has happened to this priorly unknown ex-Soviet state.
This is a wierd and humoristic noir-style game.
Includes:
Dentist mafias
Time travel
Talking robots
Polish voice actors
Lots of surprises

Progression
Don't have a clue really..
We've only done like 10 rooms, 5 puzzles and a bunch of items.
We don't really know how long the game's gonna be, since we're pretty much making it up as we go along.
But it will probly be a really short game since we're a small team, don't have much spare time and are starting to grow pretty tired of this project...
so I'd bet where 50% done on everything.

Please comment!!
which images do you like best?
does it work with the Sin City style? (The original game is in full color but I thought this looked cooler)
does it look wierd with the pixelated main character?

I must be kinda boring but I've gotta say Grim Fandango.
The atmosphere is priceless.
