Aussie is on the right track. Personally, as someone who works with images for a living... To convey dark, spooky atmospheres you generally want cooler, desaturated colors. So what I did was use the color balance too to balance the colors more toward cooler colors, such as cyan and blue. I also changed the levels a bit, and created a vignette effect on the edges to kinda limit the light from spreading too far, thus creating a spookier, uneasy feel.

Finally I desatured some reds and greens, as well as boosting the yellows of the lights to make them more highligted, as if they're lighting a path.

I do like this one...but I dont like the rocks in the very front right. How they are an icy blue.

Edit by ProgZ:  Please don't quote images, especially not big ones! :)

The texture of the "grass" makes it look like water.

Also the overly mossy completely green tree on the left of the screen looks as if it was growing out of the stone.

But I absolutely love the fallen tree with the river running under it. It already feels as if I have been taken away to a fantasy land!

When I first saw it I said, "Wooow."
It's great artwork. Makes me want to play it.

The first thing I did notice (and as it was stated in the first reply post) was the window. There needs to be a bit of light coming through it.

Also the light from the lamp needs to have some light shining onto the desk.

I also want to say great job with the simple, little details. The letters on the Fridge, the plant on the windowsill, and the little corner shelf are all very impressive.
(I also love the boxes marked "More Files" and "Even more Files" on the top left.

oh my gosh!

CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY! Ben Jordan games are some of the best!

the characters neck is a bit thick.

But other then that, very cartoony! Matches the background quite well~ good job

I really have to strain my eyes to see it, to be honest.
But I think it might just be me.

I love it! I always loved the cartoony styles!

My favorite are the trees in the very background, very nice!

But I would have to agree with the other people, just a few shadows, mostly from the tree, and the barn.
Also maybe fix the roof of the closest barn. It's a bit curvy in the back and looks like is it sinking down. Maybe draw more to it.

But I must say again : love it.

I love it! so artsy!

But the little green door is really hard to see, and kind of odd looking to me.
As if it is laying on the side of the hill wrong, or something.

I love the outside!! Your style overall is AWESOME~!

I can't wait to see this if it ever turns into a game!

It overall looks better.

But the picture on the wall is pretty messy looking...

Although, I think the dark colors are TOO dreary and strainful on the eyes, I really like it. The portrait could use some work, but other then that, it's great!

Also the friend with me (who doesn't play any point and click games noticed..If the room is dark, would there be that many noticeable shadows?)

I'm not really sure about the shadows myself, but I do think the shadows on the bed is great.

I'm using GIMP. so it has layers. I might try a lower res. I made this image for a cut scene. I used layers for this, but still, probably to plain.

Very nice! But that line (where the corner of the room is) isn't right. Well. it doesnt' seem right to me..

Oh my! I'm planning to paint the tall guy from Tribly Notes! lol~

awesome.

Anyway- It looks all right. I would just say work on the hands. Also (since I am a neat freak when it comes to art) Try to use a lighter pencil, so you cant see the erase lines. also, neat up the lines, try not to make them all scribbly and furry-ish.

I really like the left wall~ You should do them all that way.

But the sink kind of drives me alittle crazy. maybe make it more of an oval, and not an 8 shape?

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Thu 15/05/2008 16:51:17
I went to google desperate to find a new point and click game. (I played Monkey Island, Laura Bow, Space Quest, Kings Quest, and Inherit the earth about 1,000 times now..and wanted something new.)

I searched around for awhile until it popped up with some article on 5 days a stranger. I clicked on the link they gave me, and it took me to AGS. 5 days a stranger was my first AGS game, then 7 days a skeptic. I was so in love with these games, and they still stand as have favorite AGS games. (along with 6 days a sacrifice, and trilby notes.)

But i pretty much has downloaded any AGS game that looked appealing to me! I pretty much love this site.

I like the coloring you have done so far. But..I would really love to see it finished! =D
