Thanks but, no, I'm happy with the proportions as they are. :)

What application are you using to generate these characters? It looks great!

They're hand-modelled in Lightwave 3D, not generated.

kind of Frankenstein's monster crossed with a scarecrow face.

... That's kind of the idea, I just messed around in paint until I got a face that looks horrible and somewhat sympathetic at the same time. He is a sown up mess after all. I think animation is more important than each individual sprite itself...
Great. :)

By the way, I hope you didn't interpret my comments to be negative. You've chosen an interesting way to interpret the look of the monster, and in doing so, produced a very memorable sprite character.

There is a rule of perportions that works for everything but chibi. the hand is the size of the face. Even for most cartoony characters, this is still true. Very good otherwise. Just the right amount of cartoony detail, without going overboared. I like. :D

Thanks for that. After reading your feedback, I experimented with increasing the size of the hands. They're a little larger now and the model looks better for it.

Thanks, that's a good point, but they aren't intended to go together. For the second one - Cornelius - I deliberately chose to have him resemble a caricature. So, yeah, you are correct that the proportions are non-realistic, but this is a stylistic choice. Hah - perhaps I have weird taste? :)

Feels very "melancholy" to me.

I really like this sprite, it has plenty of character. But the head needs work, it looks like it is covered in a green burlap sack - kind of Frankenstein's monster crossed with a scarecrow face. Good work, though!

Critics' Lounge / A couple of character models

Here are a couple of character models that I've made in the last few weeks.

This first one is  a (so far unfinished) piece of concept art - "if there was a Quest for Glory game with an east asian setting, what would its young hero look like?"

This next character is Cornelius Glory, scientist, poet, and gentleman explorer. He's the protagonist for an original game concept that I'd like to turn into an actual game:

Feedback would be greatfully received - positive or negative. :)
