It think it was some problem with an implemented in-game-timer that's affected by the CPU-speed.

I thing you missed some place that I also found rather accidently:

Spoiler

Hints & Tips / Re: The Marionette

There were four endings mentioned. I don't know if I missed one.
I got:

Spoiler
- Killing Alice with the knife
- Good Ending after giving/saying various things (Is there another way?)
- Being killed by Alice (Marionette)
- Being killed by the monster at the Chess-field (does this count as an ending?)
[close]

Did anyone get another one?

Hello.

I don't get the Sphere Puzzle. ???
Unfortunately there are too much combinations for systematic trials.

Okay, here's what I thought:
Spoiler
Got green, yellow and red sphere, which are mentioned as forest, sun and blood. So, following the board the forest lies southwest, the blood below, the sun rises in the east from the bottom. But these positions and slight variantions failed. So I suppose the directions don't give the clue, just the order they are mentioned matters (first green, then red, last yellow). The heads give the numbers three, four and one. But also positioning the spheres in the given order and the specified positions 1, 3, 4 doesn't do anything. Neither using a telephone pad (the "one" at upper left) nor a keyboard numpad (one at lower left) pursoses anything. So now I am absolutely clueless.

Hello.

Don't you have "A straight, but otherwise boring stick"? It seems like this is supposed to be the stick you got from the boy at concordia. (According to my savegames.) Maybe that will help you.

Oh, hi again.

Thanks for your reply.
I've finished the game. Unfortunately I used the italian walkthrough that I found quite often.  I think otherwise this would have quickly become a "Very Hot Topic" :-)
There were many actions that I would never have considered.
Anyway, I enjoyed playing it. Thanks for your efforts.

Oh, hold on a sec.

Spoiler
Okay, I improved my Italian and got into duct

Hmmm, I'd suggest you to print out the walkthrough, play again and check every single point. Neither innovative nor exciting, but hopefully effective. :-)

Hi Paolo.

Thank you for your hints. But it seems that I am totally clueless. I already feared it would be the A-B-C-way.

So here is what I did so far and what I guess what I'll need to do.

Spoiler
I will win the Pool by distracting Tesla with fly in glass, but Rexy doesn't want to remove the shrunkhead, and by distracting kangaroo with TV, but Rexy doesn't use the remote.
I entered the girls' room, got hairspray. And I entered VIP room and got cane and popcorn gloves. In order to light spray and remove the grating I need the handkerchief, but I don't know how to get rid of butch.
According to your hints Jaja dreams of being a wrestler, and needs something from Alexander, but he is working.

I totally do not unterstand
Spoiler
Why I need to help the police and why Lovely Lizard doesn't use any stupid item as a lever like any EVERY other adventure game!!!

God how I am frustrated. :-)
Many thanks for your help!

Hi.
Though I´m in my twens I always favored Adventures and still hold a large collection of those classic games. :)
My first one here was "Duty and Beyond" and it was quite captivating and has really been worthwhile! (although it looks very antiquated: give it a chance to let it spill it's charm on you!).
I don´t know how significant the official ratings are, but I'd suggest you to have a look at
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=digest&sortby=3&sortdir=0&startfrom=0
and try the highest rated ones. Just in case you want to simply pick the cherries...  ;D
But be aware that you'll miss a bunch of great impressions this way!
