No.

Wait, you intentionally maintain DOS support?! Have you ever inquired about an Atari 2600 port, by chance?

This is not a hack though, just running DOS software with an emulator. Too bad the DOS engine has been discontinued, so this won't work with games made (or if you want to make games) with newer versions of AGS.

Now I have even more reasons to stay with old versions.

(Yeah, as I've just returned home from work, this post was indeed typed from my Android phone. :D)
Using an ancient version of AGS, compiling for an ancient operating system, and then using an emulator for that ancient operating system rather than using an engine with Android support in the first place... that's my definition of a crazy hack I'm afraid ;D

Of course, saying "use an engine with Android support in the first place" is an easy thing to say, but I'm not actually aware of any with anything near AGS' usability.

If you fancy making an Android port of AGS then go ahead, there are tons of people who would love such a thing (I have a mind to try it myself, but I'm waiting for a port of Allegro first).

Other than that, no, AGS cannot compile to Android, and it can't compile to anything that can be run on Android (short of the crazy hacks suggested by Iceboty).

I would suggest restoring from one of the frequent backups you were of course making.

One does wonder how many of winsetup's options are actually needed.
* Windowed/fullscreen
* Graphics driver
* Graphics filter (perhaps renamed be friendlier, I.E. "smooth" instead of "hq2x"
* Force letterbox (actually, is there ever any disadvantage to leaving this always on?)
* Use speech (one would suggest that this option is not shown in the first place if there is no speech.vox)
* Language

And that's basically it. I don't think anyone needs to change Sound/MIDI devices from default, and things like "use 85hz display" are basically useless. It would definitely be good to have a replacement config program, with better/friendlier options. I might even consider making one myself, but no promises, I'm quite busy at the moment.

By the way, every time I run winsetup.exe and then start the game through it, Windows thinks it's an installer that failed and asks me if I want to use some compatibility bullshit. Anyone who plans to release a game soon, I would suggest you rename it to config.exe to avoid this.

Legacy compatibility? Now that's awesome! I'm going to make my very best attempt at an Android port just as soon as there's a port of Allegro.

Edit: Looks like whatever backward compatibility code there was in 3.1.x is gone in the current version.
Well shit.

For example, I don't see how the old interaction system was defined/stored.
As in the interaction editor? I thought that "compiled" straight to code, behind the scenes.

A question- how are you adding support for old versions without their source code?
Another, related question- I can drag an old AGS game over a new acwin.exe and it runs fine. Also works if I rename it to ac2game.dat. How does this work without backward compatibility? Is there any chance of this being able to run 2.x games?

Someone really needs to release Allegro for Android! AGS will be easy after that.

To clarify, the only thing that needs to be done in Java is a tiny wrapper to collect input and ouptut image and audio; a tiny "glue". There's no need to rewrite anything. :)

Yeah, Yahtzee really hates to be contacted (even before he got famous with ZP).

nthing the Android request. The PSP is also ARM and a port of Allegro is being made so fingers crossed!

I couldn't tell for sure in English, but if it's the same as in French, then in theory, you're not supposed to start a sentence with "...". This is some incorrect syntax inherited from the comic books. Having said that, let's accept this form and let's pretend that we don't see the suspension dots. Then it's your regular sentence : "Maybe not." (then again this can be tolerated only in a dialog, as all sentences are supposed to contain a verb, except for a few exceptions).

Since it's a sentence, then yes, you start it with a capital letter.

The ellipsis indicated that something has been left out, if you start a sentence with "..." you are telling you've left out the beginning of the sentence. Since this would also have contained the cap you should continue lowercase after the ellipsis.
However, as Mister Ouxx pointed out, sometimes it is used in comic books to indicate a pause, in that case the beginning of the sentence isn't left out so it should start with a cap. Though you could wonder if you should use the ellipsis at all in that case. :P

It's speech for an AGS game, after a character tries something stupid. The ellipsis is indeed there to provide a pause, comic book-style; it's not to imply a prepended 'or'. So from the advice here, it's correct to capitalise, but somehow it 'feels' better without, so I might take some liberty. I dunno. Thanks!

If a sentence of speech begins with an ellipsis, is it correct to capitalise its first letter?
Quote"...maybe not."
or
Quote"...Maybe not."
?

I like this, but I don't like how it shows what's inside the cup.  Removes the mystery :P

'Know', not 'no'. 'No' means 'negative', 'know' means 'to have knowledge'. Just because they sound similar doesn't mean you can interchange them for the sake of two keystrokes. Further, the pronoun 'I' should always be capitalised. 'Can't' has an apostrophe. New sentences must begin with a capital. Use commas to add pauses, not just to list items. Here is your post written correctly:

Well, I can't, because I use this name on other things. I know it's spelled wrong. So is Google, but they haven't changed it. I came up with it when I was younger.

Oh, and I'm not putting Square's stuff in my game. I took all FF stuff out of PMQ: Moogles, Chocobos, and Cid. My last Square game will be Neku's New Trip 3 chap8.

Icey Games, please, please, PLEASE: FORGET ABOUT FINAL FANTASY AND SQUARE ENIX AND ALL OF THAT STUFF. Think up an original game idea, small enough that it's realistic to complete it, draw artwork for it, program it, use a spellchecker on it, release it, utilise the feedback you get on it. Much more rewarding, and nobody will moan about copyright.
