Heh, good luck with Jhonen-esque style! (Is it sad that it makes me want to play the game even more?). Well, if you were going for a G.I.R sidekick it would eat your inventory, sing about nonsensical destruction, and then proceed to help you with nothing and destroy your progress  ;D

It does sound quite interesting and I'll look forward to it. *makes a note on notepad*

Um... interesting first puzzle. I'm supposing the Janitor is involved in illegal explosive smuggling? Cause, ya'know a school is the perfect cover!

Hmm, I'm not entirely certain how Invader Zim fits into this (or will Jeff scream at Harold in Zimlish?) but it sounds like an interesting if slightly eccentric storyline.

It seems strange that everything sounds... relatively normal until you reach the 'Harold' part. I have to wonder if the game will contain pieces of fantasy as well as being steeped in reality.

It looks pretty solid as a storyline, however. It's funny, odd, and I would definitely be interested in it if I read a blurb like that. ^^

General Discussion / Re: Music/Vocal program?

Haha, I guess I have a lot of researching to do. I do like the sound of free, though  ;)

I'll definitely look them all up, comparing features and reviews. And then I have to make room on my laptop  :P which will be a chore and a half.... Thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks for the help!

In all honesty I was expecting a little more cash being forked over especially after parting with $200 for Dreamweaver (student price BTW). It sounds like FL is a small price for a big program... I'll have to check it out (and Audacity)

General Discussion / Music/Vocal program?
Tue 09/12/2008 04:12:23
Hum.. well, I searched and came up with some interesting music programs, some with a steep learning curve, some not. I haven't downloaded any yet because I have questions that did not seem to be answered in the other threads.

I have nothing except a microphone. I am looking for a program that is powerful (lots of instruments, effects etcetera) and preferably not very hard to learn. Hopefully free...

I was wondering if a different program was needed for vocals. I know some music programs are horrible for inputting outside tracks but would any program be able to fiddle with the voice as well? Or would it never work? Could you record from your microphone into the program or would I have to rely on windoze built in program?

Aaaand... yeah, I think that's it.

Eh, well I highly doubt I can add any more than I have already. My best advice would be to learn/practice conversation skills. For example, in Canada complaints about the weather is always a good conversation topic  ::) In the long run it depends on the girl. Sure, I'll bet there are a lot of underhanded ways to get 'laid' but for an actual mate it may take awhile. It does sound like the book might help with self esteem and confidence which is always good.... um... cannae think of anything else. Just try to think of good neutral conversation topics (no religion, politics, etcetera.) and you may end up in a deeper conversation with a girl.

For compliments (hey, look, I can add more!) it is best to be sparing. Compliments are awkward. No, really, they are. If you think that a girl has pretty hair then mention it. "Oh, hey, I like your hair." you may even add something like "how did you do that?" or something along those lines. Compliments about personal looks are like walking through sharp glass (unless the girl is drunk). You say "Your eyes are very pretty" and if the girl doesn't like her eyes she will bite your head off. Physical features are best discussed when you are alone with a girl and are going out or something.

However, I have never been on a date and some of my opinions are probably completely incorrect. Take them with a grain of salt, I suppose.

Hmmm... nope, can't think of anything else.

:-\ Ummm.. I would be very, very cautious of such a book. It seems, from your examples, that some of it is pure psychology and yes, will work but the other stuff is a bit... questionable.

There really is no 'sure way' to 'pick-up' girls as every single one will be different. I, personally, would not like someone who made some sort of disparaging remark about me. I would really see it as an insult (especially the dress one). I do like your line (wow, you're short) as it is not attacking and merely stating a fact. Still, if someone felt self conscious about their height it would be a bad idea. If someone remarked that I had lipstick on my teeth and I did not... well, I would be quite irritated; which is another thing to keep in mind.

I do know that, psychologically, after an adrenaline filled activity feelings of attraction are more likely. In today's world you might find that a little hard to emulate besides going to a tourist area like Universal Studios where fear is the norm...

The 'group' thing is a good idea but not because of what the book seems to state. A girl is more likely to feel safe, less defensive, and more talkative in a group than alone. And if you start up a conversation the others can keep it going. Really, the only thing needed is interesting conversation that said female can participate in. I would not be interested in a conversation about cars even if my group-mates knew about them. It depends, again, on the female.

Then again, that is only my two cents. Being a girl I have doubts that my opinion is really valid...

Although this is an old thread, since it is stickied I suppose necromancy is not out of the question.

I have belonged to a Writing Club for ten years and counting (different ones, mind you), achieved B's and A's in English, and currently reaching for a Master's in Creative Writing. Which brings me to my next talent:

Story
No, I cannot help you develop puzzles but I can aid your story. Having trouble with dialogue? Plot holes getting you down? BarkingPup can help! I, as stated above, am aiming for a Master's in Creative Writing and also writing around four different novels. For an example of my writing ability I suppose my deviantart account will have to do... keep in mind, however, that most, if not all, the stories on there are largely unedited and recent stuff is not posted (I have not updated in at least five months...) BarkingPup's DevArt Account

I am currently working on my own website and will replace the DevArt link with the website link as soon as it is up and running. For now, however, the DA account will have to do.

I would join but I am most confused.

QuoteOkay the theme is Vivid memory or memories, basically the restriction is the  memory or memories need to be real in the story.

Alright, so vivid memory/ies that is quite clear. However, I do not understand that they have to 'be real in the story'. Um... they have to be happening right there and then in the story (but then they wouldn't be memories). Or do they have to be from another person's story? Such as a site game (if so... that's a tad odd).

I think, in my humble opinion, that there would be more interest if you explained precisely what is going on. also, are there any rules besides the writing time limit? Word count, subject, do's/don't's? I could write an entire memory in a paragraph if I wanted to or twenty pages... or a hundred. Is it a short memory? long memory? How graphic? And I could go on and on....

General Discussion / Re: Vista & admin rights?
Mon 08/12/2008 23:37:36
Hmmm... I have Last.fM but not Winamp (I think.. not sure what Winamp is) so I'm not really sure if this will help all that much... but, anywho. If I can't do something I turn off the 'user control box' thingy that pops up every time you do something (handy for stuff like SecuROM but otherwise quite annoying and useless).

I have to ask if anything else was changed after installing Last.fm, like an upgrade for something else. I thought the glitch of having Windows Live Onecare block Windows Live Onecare from accessing the internet was from an patch I had installed. It turned out that something else had caused it and uninstalling that stopped the problem. If I recall correctly it was from the latest and greatest Vista upgrade for some new fangled bloatware I didn't know was on my computer (as if screwing up Windows Defender wasn't enough fun).

I know Vista has a thingy in... um, control panel? That tells you of any conflicts happening. Have you checked that out?
