When I started with adventure games, I was playing stuff like Monkey Island 1 and some modern ones(aka illogical inventory puzzles. God help me.) When I played Maniac Mansion, I already knew the interface, but the one thing that made it stand aside for me was how you could switch between characters at will, and how this game required a sort of strategy to get through, not just solve this puzzle, then the next, etc., etc. I've never beaten it, though it's still one of my favourites. (I'm probably the only person my age who has even HEARD of an adventure game.)

Favorite Puzzle: The chase sequence from Phantasmagoria. I know this game wasn't that good, but the chase scene was the most fun I've had in a pc game in a long time.

Worst Puzzle: Connections: It's a Mind Game is an excellent game except for this one puzzle. Those genius developers didn't just decide to put both a slider puzzle and a maze in the game, they put the slider puzzle INSIDE the maze! Genius! (It remains unknown why they bothered since they offered a 'magic button' that lets you skip them both. Strange...)

Oh, this is very difficult. I can't name just one, but I'll name some of my all-time favs:

Myst! (of course)
The Crystal Key (some people HATE this game. I LOVE it!)
Monkey Island 1 (didn't like the second one as much)
The Lost Crown (though it was created with the worst enemy of AGS: WINTERMUTE ENGINE!)
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars
King's Quest (the whole series except number eight. I never played it and I hear it sucks.)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
