Hi AGSers!

I would like to introduce you my current (non AGS) project with Aniki: Somewhere.

Somewhere, a whistleblower.
Somewhere, a reporter.
Everywhere, global dangers:
Mass surveillance.
Lobbies.
Biotechnologies.
Break the scandal.
Your path. Your choice. Your story.†‹

Somewhere is a branching interactive fiction game for mobile.

Communicate in real time with Cat, a journalist contacted by a whistleblower who leaked classified informations from an huge agribusiness company.

Be wise, your choices really matter: Cat is in danger and a world class food scandal is pending...

Features:

- Real time gameplay (follow notifications or answer later when you want)
- Random events
- Up to 4 different choices
- Several endings
- Type directly an answer to a riddle
- Internet search to find the right answer
- Dynamic sound ambiance
- Go back and change your choice

Currently, it looks like this (but it will change a bit):

If you wonder about a similar game, Lifeline is the most relevant.

If you don't know that game, think about a gamebook/CYOA.

Mind, our website is partly emulating the gameplay, so you'll have a clearer idea here:

http://www.somewheregame.com

I should/could talk about the tech side and the project progress but I feel that post is already too long. ;)

Of course, feel free to ask any question, I'll be glad to answer.

Cya and take care,

Yesterday, after this, I made a poll here:

http://goo.gl/s1MtKc

I don't want to bring revolution, discord or anything negative.
I just think the "hire a paid coder" question has to be asked.
It's not about not having trust in the current dev team, huge work has been done.
But so much hard work remains, it means so much time, issues, tough choices, hair pulling, etc. that imo it's not a shame to talk about money.
Also, if that coder work fulltime, it means it should take less time and time is against us imo.
So we could quickly turn AGS into a modern engine (so people don't need to switch to boring Unity or any other engine).

Of course, first, we should create a list of what needs to be done, so we can get an idea of a time frame and cost.
Then we could make, for example, a new AGS Bake Sale.

I guess it's better to sell games to people instead of just asking for money.
Btw, Mark and me could give some Dustbowl steam keys.
I know KodiakBehr would agree to too.
And I'm sure some other people who released commercial games could be too.
Some games could unlock when a certain amount is paid, etc.
Well, it's not the time to discuss how that Bake Sale would work: it's only to point that we can raise money without "begging" people.

I hope you'll see my post as something constructive and not a lese majesty. :)

(Just a small pic for fun)

I have a rather ambitious Dustbowl 2 in mind.

But I guess/feel I should make a game between Dustbowl and Dustbowl 2, a kind of transition not related to Dustbowl.

The idea is a medieval survival game set during Black Death in Europe around 1350.
(Are you surprised by the MAGS theme?! :D)

Roughly, take Dustbowl features, improve and add some and write a totally new story.
I plan to switch to side-scrolling and 16bits/Amiga-ish gfx.
(So it won't be a kind of DLC but a real new game.)

As I already said here and there, I'll do my next games with players, for players.
So let's discuss about all this together! ;)

I started a discussion on steam:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/367110/discussions/0/451850213952145220/

Maybe you think the idea is bad and you won't play such a game?
Maybe you have ideas, do's and dont's, etc.?

I'll be glad to hear your opinions. :)

Thx for your support and cya!

Survivors!

Dustbowl is a post-apocalyptic adventure mixing point'n'click with hints of survival and rpg.
A kind of old-school 2D mutated STALKER with retro C64 gfx.

It's available on Steam for 8€99. (Non Steam version coming soon)
You can join the HUB and share with the community here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/367110.

Here is the link to the trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x2PXkH16ik

Features:
Loot, combats, craft, shops, quests, exploration, random encounters, permadeath (optional).
To survive, you'll have to deal with hunger, thirst, tiredness, diseases.
Improve your gear, find ammunitions, repair your armours, buy/sell items.
Dustbowl has a huge main quest line that takes the player across the blistering wastelands, but also secondary quests and soon a sandbox mode.

The bunker wants you!
Join the militia!

Special thx to you all, the AGS community, for your early support and feedback during those 9 intense months of creation.
