I'm currently getting a few different language versions of Sisyphus Reborn set up to add to the Steam release.

Building the actual translation seems pretty straightforward and there's no problems in the Windows version, but I'm not sure how this works in the Linux build.

Does the Linux version (built with AGS editor 3.4.0) create some kind of equivalent of the "winsetup.exe" file? This is something I can't test myself as a non-Linux user, however my Spanish translator/Linux tester can't see a way to change language (or screen resolution and so on).

If there is no setup executable, is there a way to set the language in the config file? Sorry if the details for this are covered elsewhere but I haven't been able to find details about this on the forum anywhere.

Thanks!

This post is mostly just an excuse to toot my own horn (as I haven't had a good old toot in a long time)

But also, I'm guessing there may be a Warhammer fan or two around here, so I thought I'd mention that I wrote the soundtrack for this game called Warhammer 40,000: Regicide that has just been released on Steam (Early Access) today. To sum it up real quick, it's basically chess set in Warhammer 40k where you can also throw grenades and shoot rockets. I'm sure it's by far the violent-est version of chess ever made, as evidenced by this epic kill sequence trailer:

Hello,

I'm going to go ahead and assume that some of you into old-school adventure games are also into old-school RPGs :)

So about 2 years ago I recorded an album of music inspired by the original Wasteland game and put it on the internet just for fun. With Wasteland 2 on the way, the old one has been finally re-released on Steam and GOG, and shortly after this inXile contacted me to ask if they could include my soundtrack in the game, which, as it were, they have done:

http://www.gog.com/game/wasteland_the_classic_original

And more relevant to this forum, inXile have a non-exclusive license to use the music, so if you happen to want to use it in a free AGS game by all means go ahead (though if you do need music I'd rather write you something original anyway). You can listen to/download all the tracks from here (though the game version has a few extra tracks and a bit more "polish"):

Hi,

apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I've been searching through the forums and can't find anything about this.

I was wondering if it is possible to set the location of a character or object such that any sounds linked in their animation scale with volume the way that an ambient sound would using SetRoomLocation. I have a character offscreen making noise who I don't want to be heard until they are visible to the player character, either by fading in as you approach, or by only making the sounds when they are actually onscreen.

If there is a feature I am missing here or if anyone has an idea how to achieve this that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

AGS Games in Production / Sisyphus Reborn
Thu 27/02/2014 12:22:46
Hi everyone,

in an effort to motivate myself to completion I'm posting a progress report on my new game,

Sisyphus Reborn

This is my first attempt at using AGS to create an actual adventure game (with the pointing and the clicking), so of course I fall back on the tired old trope of amnesia. But in this game rather than ask "who am I?" I'm trying to ask more generally "why live?" You wake up in here:

and may find answers here:

Can you find meaning in an absurd and meaningless world? This is a question this game will probably not answer, but hopefully make you think about.

The style is going to be quite minimal, entirely hand drawn black and white pen sketches presented in glorious WIDESCREEN!. This game was actually started for the December 2013 MAGS ("Rebirth") but it became clear I wasn't going to make it in time for that. Now 2 months on, the end is finally in sight. It is still going to be a short game, and I would estimate 30 minutes for an average play through. The game is entirely written now, but I still have most of the sprites and all the GUIs to do. I would estimate I'll be done in a few weeks, but then again that's what I thought at the beginning of December...

Completed Game Announcements / Magic Owl
Thu 05/12/2013 09:28:06
Hi!

I discovered AGS in late September, discovered MAGS in October and thought it would be a good way to force myself to actually finish a project. Up until 2 months ago I hadn't even considered ever making a game, so I'm proud to show a complete working game called "Magic Owl":

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1739/

Magic Owl is a game of exploration and musical interaction. There are no goals or points to win; fly around and the space will interact visually and musically, generating a soundtrack as you play. The game is intended to be a relaxing and peaceful experience of discovery.

Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks
