Hey guys, I designed this logo for some people, but for their website I'd like to animate it. It needs to talk, but I have no experience in creating a decent talking animation, especially a chicken.

This is it.

Any ideas? I'm mean about how the beak should look, how many frames I need to animate, stuff like that. If someone feels like drawing some rough sketches that'd be a great help!

After reading this, take a look at Synthetique's topics, because I hate to steal his thunder with this thing.  ;)

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a short story you might have written for an approx. 2-4 room adventure game, that you had rejected for some reason. I'd like to make a short game, but I'm really not feeling like thinking up an original concept/storyline. I'm lazy when it comes to storywriting, so sue me....

If you still believe your dust-collecting story has potential but have no intention of making a game with it, post them here, or rather send them to rejectstories@hotmail.com.

Ofcourse you'll receive credit for writing.

Ok, I've not been around here for a while, at least not posting.

But I want to offer my services as a background artist for a small 2-5 room project. My own game isn't working at all, so I'd like to help somebody else.

I looked, but I couldn't find the old 'Offer your services thread', just the ACR thread which works the other way round.

I'm looking for a specific sound. That of a bar or cafe. You know, people chatting a lot, toasting to each others health and getting drunker by the minute.

Anyone have something like this or can recommend where to look for it?

Often I simply lurk around the gen-gen forum, I hardly participate in any of the discussions. I've noticed people use it to deal with problems they're going through.
It's a wonderful medium for that, I guess. It grants you a degree of anonimity, yet can be a source for great compassion and understanding. There are some fine people here.

I'd hate to add to the ranks of the slightly more depressive threads of this forum, but I'm still gonna.
I've not really felt good for the last nine months. I won't go in to the source of my problems, suffice it to say it's the L-word. [Don't pass on the opportunity to make a witty remark to this.]

Rather, I'd ask you for some constructive thoughts. I've picked up some bad habits in these months, attempts in vain for diversion and clearing my mind. One positive habit has been to buy and download insane (at least for me) amounts of music. Music helps get my mind off of things and more than often, the lyrics can be a source of wisdom. Still, my thoughts wander back, I get depressed and on nights like this, I can't get much sleep.

Back on track, what I'm asking are things along the line of me downloading music. What do you do when you get depressed? What helps you through tough times in life?

I sense the possibility for an ultimately very positive thread, so don't be shy. ;)

So, some may remember my 'Attic' where I tried my new style. I've made another one.
Attic

Things to know before C&C:
- It exists in real life.
- Yes it will have furniture.
- No the floor isn't finished.

General Discussion / Is FruitTree doing OK?
Fri 01/08/2003 15:08:50
I was checking out the Dutch thread - which FruitTree started - again, and noticed how the people who started it aren't replying at all.
So I happened to check out the last posts by FruitTree which were quite a while ago and not very uplifting, to say the least.

Does anyone know how he's doing these days?

I'm not worried or anything, that would be gay (in a non-derogatory, politically correct sense). Besides, I hardly know the guy. Really, I'm not.

Really.

So anyone?

Critics' Lounge / Attic - Trying new style
Mon 23/06/2003 19:43:49
As summer is drawing closer, my designs for an adventure game have been infused with renewed vigor. How long my newfound enthusiasm will last this time seems unclear, and frankly doesn't interest me very much. Instead I'm trying to establish a new style for my backgrounds.
In an attempt to reach something which vaguely resembles the quality craftsmanship displayed in CMI, I've decided to use the following method.
I sketch the background, scan it, color it in Photoshop. I've done as much in my first try.
Afterwards I plan on inking my original sketch and rescanning it. I guess I was too eager to try out some coloring. The main point I was trying to make to my 'associate', was that relatively poor quality sketches can look a great deal more attractive with some colors put to good use.

I'm interested in anything you have to say, from the drawing as a whole to some silly little detail. I do plan on adding lots of items to crowd the player :).
I'm especially interested in:
- What you think of the colors, and the method of shading I chose.
- If you think I should frame the picture at all, and if so, using blurred, dark objects to obscure the edges or use shadows to gradually darken the image around the edges and how I would go about doing this.
* D · Y · D · O takes a deep breath.
- If you think the composition works. Note: This room exists in real life, so it was more a choice of choosing a good perspective and deforming the room to give it a cartoony feel.

Anyway, without further ado:

- The black thingamabob in the top left corner is simply not yet made. I made some pictures of the actual room, but I'm missing that part. I'm going back there again to see what it looks like.
- The floor will have floorboards.

First off, what does C&C actually stand for? Criticism & something or what?

Secondly, I once had a dream of a wonderful adventure game, I might still get there some day, but for now I enjoy visiting these fora, especially the Critics Lounge. I love the artwork that passes around here and the great atmosphere in which people criticize or praise eachothers work.

Now the artwork before you is actually not for a game. I'm currently designing a booklet with Adobe Indesign. I wanted to add some illustrations so I drew this girl for a start. I used Illustrator to draw the lines and coloured her using Photoshop. I don't know what you guys will throw at me, but I think I'll keep her the way she is. I will use all your advice and suggestions for future reference, since I still want to make about 7 more of these drawings.
This is a completely new style for me as well as the method of colouring. So anyway, you may fire at will!

EDIT: I changed this pic to a link so as to cut down on your loading time. See images below.

Not sure anymore about the "keeping her the way she is" part.
