Hey folks! I've been working for quite some time on a game with my friend BRANE, who also started with AGS (you may remember The RoboLovers).

It's a detective game in which you inspect crime scenes, find clues, connect them, and reconstruct what happened.

Trailer:

Some screenshots!

A regular car crash, or something worse...?

Was the car sabotaged? Perhaps the garage will hold some clues.

It's not a detective game without a depressing office!

---

The game is made in Godot (boo!), which is a lovely engine I can barely use, but luckily I'm not doing any coding.  (laugh)

We're working hard on polishing the demo at the moment! In the meantime, here's the Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2797960/Confidential_Killings/

If you like the look of the game, wishlist it there! If you don't like it, feel free to wishlist it nonetheless :P

The Devil

QuoteA devil is the mythical personification of evil as it is conceived in various cultures and religious traditions. It is seen as the objectification of a hostile and destructive force. [...] the different conceptions of the devil can be summed up as 1) a principle of evil independent from God, 2) an aspect of God, 3) a created being turning evil (a fallen angel) or 4) a symbol of human evil.

Each tradition, culture, and religion with a devil in its mythos offers a different lens on manifestations of evil. [...] It occurs historically in many contexts and cultures, and is given many different names—Satan (Judaism), Lucifer (Christianity), Beelzebub (Judeo-Christian), Mephistopheles (German), Iblis (Islam)—and attributes: it is portrayed as blue, black, or red; it is portrayed as having horns on its head, and without horns, and so on.
(shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia)

Theme:
Your task is to make a story about the devil.
Does it have to be literally about the devil? Or does it have to be spooky?
Of course not!

Here are some ideas, to show how freely you can interpret the theme:

- A comedy about the devil having to find another job;
- A joke about the devil being tricked by a customer to send him to paradise;
- An interpretation of the saying "the devil is in the detail"...
- ...or "the Devil's advocate";
- The devil as a representation of an evil person;
- A story about a Tasmanian devil...? Eh, that's a bit of a stretch.

Be creative! ...or not. Literal interpretations are also fine.

Rules:
- No word limit, just don't make it a 500-page epic.
- Have fun (that's a rule  :wink:  )!

Deadline: Monday 25th November.

Campfire Story

You're camping with your friends in the woods. It's night, the forest is dark, you're all huddled around the fire... it's your turn to tell a spooky story!

Rules:
- No word limit, but keep it short enough so that the others don't fall asleep and accidentally burn themselves in the fire ;)
- If you want, you can just write a spooky story, or you can include the campfire context in the story itself: i.e. tell the story of someone telling a story at the campfire. Or have other people interrupt the narrator, if the story is too boring. Be as creative as you want!

But most importantly, have fun and good luck!

Deadline: Saturday 17th August.

VACATION

Norman Rockwell - Family Home from Vacation

What do you like to do during your vacations? Maybe you like going to the sea, enjoying the sun and bathing. Or maybe hiking on a mountain. Or going on a bike through the countryside. Explore the ocean on a raft. Or perhaps, you just like to stay home and relax!

So, for this competition, you should draw a place you would like to visit on vacation. It could be a tropical island, a cosy restaurant, a temple on top of a mountain, whatever you want! It doesn't have to be adventurous. Just show your idea of an ideal place for a vacation.

Deadline: 26th of April 2023 10th of May 2023. Of course, with Easter in the middle and everything, if you need more time just let me know. ;)

Voting:

Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clearly defined walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: does the image convey the wanted atmosphere? What's the feeling of the place?

Good luck and have fun! Can't wait to see your ideal vacation spots! :cheesy:

SECOND CHANCE

Since I wasn't sure about what topic to choose, this time you get to decide what to draw! You can pick any of the previous themes used in the Background Blitz, directly from this list.

Of course, you'll need to tell us what topic you chose. ;) If you already started, but didn't finish, a background for that particular topic, you may use some sketches that you did. But I'd prefer if the background itself was all new.

Many thanks to Sinitrena from whom I shamelessly copied borrowed the topic idea (and even the title), and who also compiled the master list!

Deadline: 31th January 2021.

Voting:

Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clearly defined walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: does the image convey the wanted atmosphere? What's the feeling of the place?

Good luck! ;-D

HELP FOUND!

Project
Hi! I made a short adventure game set on a small spaceship. The game is pretty much finished, it just needs a few final touches.

I need some help with testing and proofreading.

Testing
Some people have already tried the game and it seems mostly bug-free. But they weren't actively hunting for bugs, just playing the game. So they may have missed some of those nasty critters!
So, I need some help with testing. The game is fairly short, I don't think it should take too long.

Proofreading
I also need help proofreading the game. Fixing sentences that sound strange to native speakers, grammar, typos and so on.

Comments
If you're interested, you can send me a PM. Thanks!

WHAT I HAVE FOUND IN THE WOODS

William Bliss Baker - Fallen Monarchs

You were walking through the woods one day when you stumbled on something. What was it?
A bizarre creature? A mysterious object? A serial killer hiding the bodies of his victims? Your friend Bob going for a walk? A group of fairies having a picnic? A scary monster hiding in the bush? Or just a bush? Or something else entirely?

Your job is to create a sprite of whatever it is that you found in the wood.

Guidelines:

  • No size, palette or style limitations.
  • Animations are welcome, but please include a static version of your sprite (that's the one that's going to be judged).
  • Feel free to add a name and a description of what you found, but it's optional.

Deadline: 4th October 2018

Good luck!
