Hi everyone! A few days ago I found the design document from the cancelled Indiana Jones and the Iron Phoenix. Aric Wilmunder close his page where he uploaded the documents and only I can see the files thanks too waybackmachine:        https://web.archive.org/web/20180226005830/http://wilmunder.com/Arics_World/Games.html

The thing is, one of the Iron Phoenix's documents (more precisely the "Room design2.compressed.pdf" (you can see the file's name if you put the mouse on the thumbnail of the document for a while)) doesn't work. I want to ask you if anyone have this file in their possession to share with me.

Thanks a lot!

Sensually yours,
Me.

Hi everyone! I download the AGS 3.5.0.31 P9 version a few days ago, and installed it. When I try to launch the editor, I get the next message (sorry for not put a preview, I don't know why this url doesn't show it):

https://ibb.co/VTRxmnN

The spanish text says "Cannot load the file or assembly 'AGS.Native.dll' or one of its dependencies. Cannot find the specified module"

I can't use the editor when I press "Aceptar", and I haven't any idea of what all of that means.

I am using Windows 7 32 bits, 4gb ram, an intel i3, and that is all I know about computing.

Hi, everyone! sorry if this was asked before, I could't find it in the forum. Anyway, I want to know how do you plan a game; how do you write the story and the puzzles (do you put everything in a single document?); how do you plan the rooms; how good practices could you say to make a game design's document.

Cheers!

Hello everyone! I want to tell you some than I really HATE when I'm playing an adventure game, and I want yo know if I'm the only who think like this or not, and what do you think about it.
Well, as you know, the adventure games are strongly based, in addition to puzzles, in story. And, in most cases, to tell us a story, the game are uses of texts, and in most cases, that texts are dialogs. Well, sometimes, that dialogs beteween different characters or whatever, are reeeeeally reaaaaaally long. I'm not complaning about that, but I will to pose the next stage: you are relaxing with a good point and click adventure game; you click "talk to" and select a NPC really important in that part of the story, you will have the answers that you was looking for a long time; you will know why that person was killed, why that strange kid knew more than you think, why that monkey has 3 heads; and then, then someone from the real life come beside you and start to asking something from the real life, or call you for your help with a thing, or whatever. In that moment you push the spacebar like you did with your old games in scummvm, trying to get pause the game in the middle of the very very extensive dialog, but the game still running. You push the P key, but nothing. You presos the ENTER key, but nothing. You start to sweat. You hear the voice of the other person asking for you. You answer "just a second" meanwhile you are pressing all the keys like if tomorrow doesn't exist. Your hearth sound like the flight of the bumblebee but played on bongoes. You start to curse the damn creator of that damn unpausebled game, and you wish that damn son of a ***** has itch right in the center of his *** hole and he can't scratch himself. And ten seconds after you look at your arm passing trough your monitor's screen faster than the sound's speed.

Well, you got the point. I experienced a lot of situations like this, and it's really really really annoying. So, my question is, dear adventure games creators, do you have this in mind when you develop a game? Do you even think in people like me?

I hope you can explain to me WHY this things happen. Thanks.

Site & Forum Reports / Forum dark theme
Tue 21/07/2020 20:28:07
Hi everyone. Before to start, please move my threat if it isn't the right place to talk about it :) Sorry for inconveniences.

From the last year, year and a half may be, I realized than the dark mode in the apps and programs are really, really, really usefull and nice to use. I don't know what do you think about it, but in my personal case, I commonly use the screens in middle of the dark, and the white lights damage my eyes. It's hard to me still watching the screen without turn on the lights of my room, or something, to decrease the luminic impact. So, I was wondering if do you consider make a dark theme for the forums, 'cause it's the place where more time spending of all the AGS site.
Another thing I want to say: I downloaded the AGS 3.5 patch 3, and try the dark theme provided by crimson wizard (if my memories aren't failuring) and it I don't really like it. The general design is too black, for here and there, which is causing a impossibility to differentiate the different panels all over the editor. Also, the text is too white, and the contrast between them and the black background is too high, which is bad too. A good example of a dark theme is in whatsapp; the color palette uses different shades of greys, which help to rest your eyes. In contraposition we have the dark theme from Outlook in android, which is purely black with a really white letters on screen.

So, that's all. I hope you consider a dark theme for the forums :)

Hi everyone!!! I'm not pretty sure if is this the right section of the forums...whatever; I want to tell you than I decide to learn python from 0; the idea behind it is learn how to program because I don't know nothing about programming, except the very basic concepts as variables, functions, a little bit of loops and things like that. I find a very well course of this language in YouTube, so I start the study a few days ago. My question is the next: do you think than I could code and adventure relatively well (a decent code I mean) just learning python?
I know AGS use a C bases language, also I read and understand the script tutorial included in the help file of the editor. I have all this question because I heard python is an excellent language to learn programming from 0, and the idea of learn second language as C or C++ from zero just for make a game in AGS is... "agobiante". So, I hope you guys can answer this silly question and wish you strength in this hard times. Excuse my poor english btw! Thanks!!!

Hello, fellas!

Today I saw in the online version of the manual, more especifically in the scripting's section, the part 1 of this tutorial say this: "The Scripting Tutorial is online here: http://www.bigbluecup.com/actutor.htm" and, as you can imagine, the URL doesn't exist.

I'm not pretty sure why say that, 'cause the part 2 of the same is working perfectly. Please, someone check this!

Here is the link to the manual https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/

Thanks!

Hello, AGS community! it is my first post here.

I'm sorry if my english is very bad, but I'll try to explain myself the best that I can:

I searched in this forum and I don't find any usefull about the hand-drawn backgrounds of LucasArts adventures. My question is the next: how was the process to digitize this draws? I mean, I want to do something similary but I'm not pretty sure how do that. My theory is the next: they drawn in paper with a unknow size for me, paint it in watercolor and then scan it. Later, they resize the image to the tipical resolution of their adventures (320x200) and the draw look pixeled as usual in their adventures.

After this, I will procede to tell you my situation: my scanner is for A4 format. If I draw a background with A4 dimensions, then scan the paper and resize to 320x200, my handmade draw will look like the LucasArts backgrounds?

I hope you can understand my doubt. I'll waiting for your answers!!!! Thanks you so much!
