Ahoi there!

I just started working on my first game ... for the tenth timeÃ,  ;) . Anyway, I was looking for a good working title, and thought "The Thule Deception" sounded kinda good. There's just one question: How do you pronounce Thule? Is it "Thewl", or "Tooly", or what? Not, that it's really important - I just want to konw.

Thanks!Ã,  :)

Hey there!

I consider this my breakthrough.Ã,  :D After all those years I finally managed to come up with a technique to draw a room that pleases me. So, what do you think? I know, there could be more furniture. But what about the general style? Is it any good? Can I at last dare make my first game?

What a great day this is. See you around!

Critics' Lounge / Scaling Problem
Tue 07/02/2006 22:08:55
Hey there!

I've been trying to draw my own backgrounds for quite a while now, and I guess I got the hang of the basics by now. But there is still one particular problem that is bending my mind into a pretzel: The mystery of scaling. Here's what I mean:

X marks the spot … erm, the vanishing point. Now, the room and the object themselves should be OK. The character seems fine, too â€" unless he walks a few steps down. Then the object “outscales” him by far. My problem is: I don't want to scale up my character-sprite. I don't recall Indy being scaled to that extend … or any other adventure-celebrity.

What am I doing wrong? Or I am I missing a certain issue regarding vanishing points and dimensions? Do I have too fool the player's vision by not scaling the objects in the foreground correctly? Or is it just a matter of limited walkable areas?

Help me! Help me, please! I'm desperate. This is the last obstacle in my way. When this problem is solved, I'll be able to finally make my first game. Bah, who am I kidding? I'll find another obstacle.Ã,  ;) Whatever, advice is very, very welcome!

And I hope, to be in the right forum. If not, sorry, and feel free to move it whereever.Ã,  :)

Thanks!

Critics' Lounge / Some New Yorker´s Faces

Hello there!

What's the deal with those faces? Does someone probably recognize those people? Anyway, I just wanted to know, if I'm on the right way here. :)

Critics' Lounge / Short MIDI Jingle
Mon 05/12/2005 21:55:58
Hi there.

I just made this short Jingle for my fake adventure studio. Nothing special, really. But anyways, what do you think?

Here it is: Jingle

Oh, by the way... When I play this file in my WinAmp, it's being slightly distorted. Am I having this problem alone, or do you notice something similar?

Hi there!

I was just working on the sprite of my game's hero. But I feel like something's still wrong. Seems like every part of his body is headed into another direction... Or is it just me?

What do you think of this guy?

Thanks for your comments in advance!Ã,  :)

EDIT: De pic above is dee edited voison. Woiked on de jacket and face a lil bit.

HiÃ,  there,

I'm just working on a game called “Bloodlands”.Ã,  Right now I'm up to writing the story and already some of the puzzles. The thing that bothers me is the fact, that the intro sequence will be quite long. I myself love lengthy introductions. I love, when I get to know the playable character a little better before I actually can control him. I love credit-sequences with a cool soundtrack, before the game begins. Actually, I like games, that behave like movies. But that's me...

How about you? What do you think? After clicking on the “Start new game”-button, how long are you willing to wait and watch before you can point and click your way through the game for yourselves? 10 seconds? One minute? Five minutes?

Just to show you, that I'm really working on something… here's some work in progress (nevermind the hands… this is not for c&c):

Critics' Lounge / New Background
Tue 10/02/2004 17:34:53
Hi there!

A few weeks ago I posted my first character and his walk-cycle in this forum. Since your suggestions on how to improve the guy were pretty helpful I now present you the first room I did for the game. It is still a rough draft â€" the empty space in front of the counter is supposed to be filled with walk-behind-tables and chairs, which still look quite odd at the moment. Also I´m having a little trouble with lighting and shading FX. So I let them out, too.
Aside from that, what do you think of the style? Would you be able to maneuver your character through an environment like this for a while, without getting nauseous?

Thanks again for your comments!

Critics' Lounge / New character + animation...
Mon 26/01/2004 13:37:07
Hi there!

Actually, I didn´t want to post anything in this forum, until my game is in the final stages of construction. But after browsing around a little, I noticed that you people come up with some pretty supportive criticism in this lounge. So, here you go. Meet Art Malone, stand up comedian and hero of my first game:

Yes, I know he doesn´t look much like an adventurer, but his other sets of clothing haven´t been animated yet. This shirt and tie dress is his casual on-stage-look.

So, what do you think? Should he be improved? Should he change his style? Should he work on new material to get on with his career? I´m eager to read your comments…

Thanks!
