That's right, the long damn wait is over. I smile with joy as I type these words in, thinking if this day was ever to come. The production is over, the testers are done and everything is ready to go. King's Quest III has finally been released. Remember this date, the 19th of June. The day KQ3 was released!




It's been twenty years since the evil wizard Manannan first appeared on our computer screens, but now, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the team at Infamous Adventures, he's back!

Kings Quest 3 : To Heir is Human was first released by Sierra On-Line back in 1986. As the second sequel to the hugely popular and successful Kings Quest series, it fast became a fan favourite. Roberta Williams, author of the Kings Quest series, broke new ground in computer games, introducing players to the magic map concept (making travel quicker between screens), timed puzzles and an in-depth spell casting system. All these things are standard fare in today's games, but were original concepts in 1986.

Unfortunately, due to the advances made in computer technology over the last twenty years, such classic games no longer run on the modern computer. It was with this in mind that Infamous Adventures decided to remake this game, bringing it up to the quality of Kings Quest 5 & 6. Klytos, Executive Producer of IA's Kings Quest 3 had this to say. “We just love this game and felt that even twenty years later the story was relevant and, more importantly, still fun. We wanted to introduce a new generation of gamers to this classic and show older players who remember the original something new and special. Ok, i dont know if this has been asked before, but i did look it up before asking and found no topics regarding this.

Is it possible to have the first Letter in the text window, done in another font and another color?

Example:

"The kid was nice fellow.." where "T" is a larger font and red. The rest is just normal font.

I know it can be done, but i dont know how. And I hope someone knows a practical way of applying this to all the text windows (display text/ not speech)..

Ok, i've been out of the loop for awhile and last time i used AGS was under version 2.6

Now, 2.71 has a new way of scripting (or handling) GUIs. I've looked around but i haven't found a guide as to "How to make GUI's the new way". I know that you can still do them the old way, but i still want to learn the new way.

Is there a guide out there i can get my hands on to understand the nuts and bolts of the new GUI building system?

im looking for King's Quest V and VI, i got one http for a site that had the downloads for free, but the links wont work.

does anyone know of another place i can download them from.

Does anyone know where i can find a good tutorial on the AGS Credits pluggin, since i find the TXT file that comes with the package a little to simple, ... either a tutorial or a script (that shows examples of how to.. script it..duh). :P

can anyone tell me where i can get a good sound converter, that converts (duh).. Wav to Voc?.. it has to be free ofcourse! ;)

After a few tries, my GAME is crashing.

I checked out if it was the AGS program, cause this problem just came out of the blue, i didnt do anything unsual to trigger it. But i found out its only my game, cause AGS runs fine with other projects.

So, its crashes sometimes when its making the EXE file, and sometimes when its running the game. Sometimes... very rare times, it runs normal.(about 1 in 10 tries).. or whatever. Still its not normal..

does anyone have any idea on what could it be, and how can i fix it? :'(

Im starting a game called Lord of Kings; Quest of Destiny.

Now this game is intended to feel like a Sierra Title. Why? Why not, i've always loved Sierra of old. Infact i've loved King Quest Series since... hell since i can remember having a PC. This is why also this game will be quite a lot like KQ.

So, before all of you burn me for not being original :P, i give you the starting story.

"A war that took place long ago, when two realms fought each other for longer than anyone can remember. The bloodshed would seem to never end. These were the feuding realms of Saville and Nursia.

But as Nursia pushed foward with the brutal tactics of King Mustafa's General, Sein... Soon the Realm of Saville was crushed.

Victory was claimed and Mustafa came to receive the formal surrender of King Alonso, lord of the fallen realm. But to his horrendous surprise, all the court of Saville was brutally killed under the sword of General Sein. As Mustafa was about to return to his realm, his wife, Soraide.. found in the throne of Alonso, a child, a baby boy... heir of Alonso..., Diego.

And so Soraide took young Diego back with her to Nursia, with the idea of razing the boy with her daughter of same age, but Soraide fell great ill, and soon passed, and Diego was left alone.

King Mustafa, gave Diego to his brother Ali, who razed Diego well.

Diego, soon grew to become a man and also grew to love a woman, princess of Nursia, Mustafa's only child, Zamira. Because of this love, Diego is forced into exile, and after his departure King Mustafa is murdered, leaving General Sein in power and Ali in prison blamed for the death of Mustafa.

Now, Diego learns of such deeds, and also hears the news of Sein wanting to take his place as King rightfully by marrying.. the Princess of Nursia.. Zamira.

what shall Destiny prepare for Diego and us all?"

Sounds complicated and long, yes could be.

But since it is my first proyect i will attempt to try and make it what a decent game should be (by first AGS game standards).

please tell me what you think, also i need ideas for puzzles, remember its a desert realm based game.

dont think the game is on paper i started it about a month ago, but i didnt want to annouce it ;), and i feel its in a pretty good solid starting stage i just need ideas and chat to give me feedback.

i've made a street in my game, but i want to make some random people walk on it.
Like in (pleurghburg or kq2 remake plaza).

ive already made the NPC characters, but how would i go about doing this scriptwise.?

any ideas? :P

Ive been trying to make a character (main player) give
an item to a NPC.

script wise, how do i go about this.

cause what i want is, once you give the NPC
the object, triger a dialog, then the NPC gives
you another item. (Basic Adventure thing)

i know how to do that, but i dont know how to
make the player give, a specific item to the
specific NPC.

cause in the interactions thing for the NPC,
theres a Give Inventory interaction link.

question being, how do i specify what particular item
must the player give to the NPC in order to trigger the
above. Cause i dont want to give the NPC another item
and trigger the same response for giving him the correct item.

hope that wasnt too much chatter..

Im looking for the KQ series you the clasics like KQ I, KQ 2 and KQ3 the original versions, not the remakes.

i hope someone knows where i can download them.

or even if they have a copy they can send to my email.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good GUI Guide, cause ive checked a few but not all that great.

I need to make a custom, load GUI, a Save GUI and an EXIT GUI.

So if any knows where i can get something to learn how to do this in detail.

or if someone can make a VERY detailed Guide (i hate having to ask myself what he ment or what was he refering to when he wrote something in a bad order, or skipped maybe an important detail)

"Like, go to the bottom of the script...put it there"????

I NEED TO KNOW WHERE EXACTLY.. (you all know what im talking about)

Im making a cutscene, it requires one NPC to be in two rooms, in the first room he starts out fine, then in the second room i want him to apear in a specific x,y position.

how do i do this?

I want to edit the Message windows. I know how to edit the ones GUI that are available, but i dont know how to edit the (quit/play) window.

i want to change colors and maybe style (i know text can be changed in the general message thingy)

and also how do i make (those Restore/Restart windows).. when you get killed?

Ok, ive done most of the basics, in the game, now i need to know how i can do starting scenes .. and how make i make animations for pick up stuff ?

and if i can find a good tutorial to do this?
