I have two more games uploaded now (yeah I have DSL today!)

Integer Battleship.
This game was made for the class I was teaching to help students
better understand integers and how to add and subtract them.
Not too complex, but for kids that are just learning it, this was hard
and fun.  got an A+ for this with my education advisor, even though
I think the game isn't that awesome for outside school. Anyways,
try it out.

Shells
This one was made for my girlfriend. (or she helped think of it, i made it)
It's kind of like mindsweep from windows to sum it up. This game uses
shells to determine what's around it. the point is to dig up all the shells
on a screen without digging up a starfish. VERY HARD when you get to
level 3 and 4 (because there is a limit of 20 objects per screen.. sigh)
Have fun with it!  I even play this some too.

I have several games made right now, but currently have 2 uploaded through this slow dial up connection.

Chicken Fraction - basic non-ags game that helps students understand fractions and cross-multiplication. includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division for six graders to practice and learn.  (currently listed as six graders by accident under the download page)

Cosmos - stressful non-ags game that I made mainly for six grade students to learn a different use of combinations, timing, logic, and planning. found it to be an EXTREMELY fun game for adults and seniors too who played it for hours!.  Time based game in which you create universes by first combining astroids and stars. make sure you read the simple instructions before playing or you'll be confused!

These were projects I made for students during my student teaching semester. There are several other games too but they will get listed when I get DSL finally this week.  :-)

Advanced Technical Forum / Suggestion: looping
Tue 01/06/2004 02:56:42
are there any plans to have a FOR-LOOP created?  It would be useful
to have this in assisting us from making those infinite loop goofs with WHILEs.

Couldn't find a forum message on this yet, so wanted to post it.
This would REALLY be useful.

Couldn't find the information on this in the help files, so figured I'd just put the information out here for you to think about.

Is it possible with future versions to have a supported movie clip be shrinked in size and played on the screen?  kind of like doing a picture-in-picture thing.

Example would be like a regular background of someone's house, and on the tv (when activated) it would play the movie clip that would play in a scripted defined size?

Just a thought.

I have two games created for educational use. Both games I made for my 6th graders to teach them about integers and fraction cross multiplication.

Not sure how to post them here. the link under short games doesn't work for me. says I'm not logged in when I am.

I had a couple of questions with the scripting feature

1. I havent' found any messages on what language the scripting is done in. Is it
in C or C++ or just a limited version of one of those languages?

2. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to go about getting a remainder from
dividing two integers? I want to check whether the remainder is 0 or not. I was
trying to use the % command but that isn't recognized.

Thanks.

I'm having problems with getting background music to play when showing the first room.

I have a wav that is named  MUSIC0.WAV.  It's in the game directory I'm making.
The first room that loads is called ROOM1.CRM.  It's the title screen, so there's no
player character that I need to show (that's turned off)

The game compiles nicely and converts the wav file to a vox, but when I test the game,
it doesn't play the music.  I've tried the directsound and directwav settings also.

The document states that the game auto plays the MUSIC0 without me checking a
box to play it. I've tried both ways.

Any suggestions on how to get the music to play?  I know there's something being missed here.

along with this, is there maybe a specific wav format that is recommended?
Mine is at 11 sample rate and bit rate 90
