When I play a game, I keep trying, then at some time I get stuck, and I ask on the forums. I always wonder how the people who answered knew how to do that part, even though they are not authors. The point is, what are the ways people use to complete a game? I also ask this to myself when I look at walkthroughs. Do other people wonder this? Is it that I'm not looking at enough walkthroughs to strategically complete a game? Or do I not really understand the strategy in the hints?

I know this is more like a newb question, but still, how you you create transparent places on a GUI? This can be useful for creating thought bubbles. But here is the challenge, I want the transparency to be surrounding the circular bubble, and I want the test to be in the upper bubble. Let me know if you need a diagram.

I think it would be useful to people who really want a better way of walking on and behind sand dunes, to remove the walk-behind area when you are walking up the hill and restore it when you are going to walk behind it. Maybe something like this:


As soon as it is implemented, I'll try to upload a short demo demonstrating this.

Sorry if it took one whole month before I post but I couldn't think of anything. I hope people try to do this unlike last time But anyway--

Rules:
Each time a winner wins a specific competition, they post another thread about a specific competition in this forum. The old thread on that specific competion will get locked if the winner of the competion post another thread. Each contestant must use at least 3 of the specified items plus 5 more primary items. You must come face to face with the threat and stop it. One more thing, you have to make this as logical as possible.

Some terrorists are going to hijack a plane and then crash the Empire State Building and you work there. You have heard the threat on TV and you must stop the terrorists before it is too late. If you died then it will come on the news and will be like the 9/11 incident.

Flashlight
Already-prepared-terrorist-crash-kit (Includes bomb, gun[any], handcuff, parachute, loudspeaker, radio, small color TV and two more items [will not influence the 5 primary items limit])

I'm a person who really watches the Simpsons. If you don't know what it is, google it. I believe that someone here is making a game based on the Simpsons. Anyway, what is your favorite quote from the Simpsons? Mine is (this what Homer read from that old myth book):

I get a problem when trying to type:

How do I? I want it to be like those original debug teleport GUIs only with another background color, but I can't seem to do this. If you aren't really familiar with these, there is a label at the top saying "Enter new room: (in room (the current room number the player is in))" and at the bottom, a textbox where you enter a room number to go there, and then at the right is an "OK" button which is like pressing the 'Enter' key on the keyboard when a textbox is around and then a cancel button at the bottom of the 'OK" button. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Sorry for not making this shown as solved, but I will right now.

I am just wondering how you can create programs using whatever language AGS uses and then compile it into .exe files. Is there a program that I can use to do this? Something that can make a simple program would be fine. And doing this particular thing cannot involve using AGS to make the program.

The title explains it all and I know it has to do with "SaveGameSlot" and "RestoreGameSlot".... and I don't know about how to do the "Save" or "restore" buttons on the two.

1. T'is an issue that has been bothering me lately. I wonder if I can change the Setup file of the game's icon. I know how to change the game's.....I couldn't find this in the manual and earlier I couldn't find anything that is related to this topic in the forum. So.....any ideas? I know there is a possibility since I saw an example in Equilibrum by JudasFan. Thanks LostTraveler for solving this problem........

2. Ok, another problem, I want to know how to turn off and turn on debug options in script. Is it possible?

Ok, this is really important, programs keep getting into my computer and install themselves. It happened right after I click the link to the old productions forum in the ezboard in the sticky in the Completed games Annoucements. Please tell me how to resolve the problem. Please! This is is a very bad issue and I do not have enough time to think over how I wrote this.

When you import character sprites sometimes the ones views of the characters you want are all boxed in one image, like the instagame sprites, or you drew objecst and are all stored in one image and are also boxed. But, the main point is, the selection size is 20x20 but I want that changable to something else so I can import the views of the character or objects.

I hope I didn't do anything to anger people but here we go to explain the game. ;D

There is person who just started his investigation career called Bob. He has a friend called CosmoÃ,  is is crazy about aliens and is a paranormal investigator. Bob does not believe that there are aliens in the vast universe and once discovers green things on a planet. Cosmo is about to hurt Bob in some way if he won't help him with crazy alien investigations so he joined the paranormal investigators too. Just one morning Bob discovers he has been abducted by aliens but this time, he stays in there for dissecting. He attempts to get back home but he is locked up in a cell protected by a powerful force field. Bob has a magnet, a walkie talkie (unfortunately he cannot contact earth and only Cosmo believes that there are aliens out in space) and a spy cameraÃ,  (to remember. He is currently on the planet Kethoptunotes (the short way they say it in the game is "planet Keth.") which is 10 light years away. Help Bob get home as soon as possible and before the aliens find and dissect Bob.

Anyway, the positions I think I need for helping the production of the game are:
Background Artist (EXTREMELY NEEDED)
Beta Testing (Position Unavailable)
Character Artist (You know, aliens)
Help with scripting (Just helping me with the scripting, not doing the scripting)
Music Artist (Yeah, I need that)

(NOTE: I am not going to boss you around, I just need help making these things.)

EDIT (Oct 19, 2004): This is the progress of the game:

Graphics (backgrounds and sprites): 5%
Scripting: 10%
GUIs: 98%
Music (or sounds): 5%

Average progress: 29.5%

As you can see, I've only accomplished a little. With a sprite or background artist, the progress for graphics and scripting will increase, thus making the production of this game faster.

Currently the forum font has changed but.....those GIANT letters are just annoying to me. Is it only me or does it happen to all of you?

I try to use SetCursorMode(6); to set the cursor mode 6 but it stays at 0!
EDIT: I was probably so angry I forgot about elling you guys what I was tying to do!
What I was trying to do:
For some GUIs I want it to be the pointer cursor but for some strange reason it was the walk cursor. That is all I can say, unless you want the script or the GUIs I want to have the pointer icon on:

Beginners' Technical Questions / Crazy GUI

In the gui script for game there was a script for a button that closes the gui:

if (button == 11) InterfaceOff (3);

Makes the player to to room 100 (the screen where it says load/play/quit). What is wrong with that (button 11 is the button where it closes the window and Interface (or gui) 3 is the controls gui window)?

WHen I try to install that there is an error saying that the file "atl.dll" is in use. How can I prevent that?

1. You know on the demo, there is the intro room and room 100 and both of them doesn't have the character. I tried to do the exact same on my game and the character does appear. I searched and searched those two rooms and I can't seem to find the answer.
CASE #1 CLOSED

2. Room 100 of the Demo is set to cursor six and when you right click it doesn't go to other cursor but when I tried the exact same on my game... well i think you guessed it, when I right click it does go to other cursors. Alright, I have to do it the hard way, using disablecursormode for all cursors by typing it over again unless someone describes a way to do it all easily.

Can anyone explain to me how to do it like the demo?
