Been trying to get back into the swing of things, and work on some artwork. At first I was using deluxe paint, as it's an old favourite of mine, but well, I can only get so far with it. I've never been that great at sprites, though recently I started trying something different. Recently, as in, two days ago. Basically, anime.

Started doing some work on anime style characters on paper, and felt actually comfortable working on them, so I thought (today) I'd try do a quick two faces.

This is the first and second face in this style I've ever tried, and would love constructive criticism esp. with the second (apart from with the eyes, as I love them on this one, and as far as they're concerned, ignorance is bliss :)

I also have a background I threw together in deluxe paint after 2+ years of not really using it. The styles don't match, and after showing one person, I know there is definitely conflict about what the subject matter could be.

What all of this leads to is, I'm in the process of trying to find a style that I feel comfortable with, and will flow. Any advice you can offer will be welcome, and hopefully my work improves from here-on, in.

Adding something I threw together in photoshop in 5-10 minutes. It was easier to create than it looks, though -- if only everything was this easy.

I'm enthusiastic, trying to rediscover what it is I used to do when I made games, and am in a way, suffering a huge writer's block in terms of making a game.

When I used to make games, it wasn't the programming I needed help with, and while my artwork isn't the best, it usually gets the job done enough for me to get a bit further. I even used to know exactly what I was doing, in terms of which puzzles go where, and the overall plot (or at least goal for the current section). Now, though, I'm at a loss.

Maybe it's because my original idea "The Lost Planet" had been kicking around for 4 years before I even started on AGI, and it was a few years after that I started on AGS, so my idea had time to mature.

Anyhow, I've decided to start with a fresh idea, and while I know the story, I'm having trouble making the transition from story to game. I'd like to know what other people's experiences are in turning a new idea they have into a game, and how they have gone about it.

Cheers :)

I don't know if any of you remember me, though I used to be kicking around the forums here about 2 years ago. I started working on an AGS version of something, and then somewhere along the lines I disappeared -- can't even remember why  ???

Well, I thought I'd say a big ol' hello to everyone. Sadly I've done nothing more on 'The Lost Planet' (ags or agi versions), and have had trouble even finding the source for my old versions (lots of reformats over this time).

Quite a few names I recognise, and even more that I don't. All good, however  8)

I've started playing around with an idea that I think it's best I don't reveal or make a fuss about in case I get sidetracked again, but it's good to see some things happening. Cheers! :)
