I've just announced our first commercial adventure game, The Drifter!

I've been working on it on and off for a couple of years, and spent the last month with the team getting art/audio in to show it off at PAX Aus, so feels great to actually have nice looking stuff to share. (Though it's a good while off release still, at least a year).

Website's here, with a link to wishlist if you like- http://thedriftergame.com

Here's the story synopsis-
Mick Carter's been drifting a while now - never staying one place long, moving from job to job. Forced to return to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by mysterious armed men, and killed.

And that's just the start of Mick's problems.

His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death...
Framed for the murder he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by a feeling that something followed him back from the other side...
Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a mad web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand year obsession of a madman.

Hi everyone, it's been a while! I was most active back in like 2004 I guess. Jeez.

Anyway, I've been working on an adventure game tool for Unity on and off for a while, and it's at a point I want to share it. It's built to be quite similar to the AGS workflow, since that's what I grew up with and loved using. It differs from Adventure Creator in that it's tailored to 2d sprite based games, and has a scripting similar to AGS.

I just made a crummy intro/tutorial video:

There's docs here with more info: http://powerhoof.com/public/powerquestdocs/
And you can download the unity package here: http://powerhoof.com/public/tools/PowerQuest.unitypackage

Any feedback would be really great!

My entry for the August 2011 MAGS:

- The Unicated -

Join twins Bo and Mal as they struggle to escape being torn apart by a society that shuns the wicked and innocent alike.  LOL!!

Download here!

The theme was "Evil Twin". It ended up being similar in a lot of ways to my first AGS game, for MAGS in 2002. Except I've come a long way since then, and had help on this one with background art and music.

Enjoy!

Update: 29/1/2012 - Released a new version with speech and a couple of other minor tweaks.

I've added a youtube trailer.  I've finally had some time off work, so lots of progress is being made and the October release is still on track.  I've had time to remix a bunch of original music for the game too, which I didn't think I'd have time for.

- 6 historical figures to choose from.
- Battle it out with 2 friends on the same keyboard, and against up to 5 computer players.Ã,  (Max of 6 players in a game)

- High score system thingy
- Dynamic crowd cheering reward a good volley of punches. (I mainly put this in so I could use the word 'dynamic')

UPDATE: HLoBB Released!

What is the HLoBB?
The Historical League of Bouncy Boxing is a sporting club for figures of high historical significance. Members don gloves, and battle it out in a variety of arenas.

HLoBB is a hotseat multiplayer platformer type thing, kindof 'jump-n-bump' meets 'little fighter'.Ã,  The aim is basically to wipe out all the other players by picking up speed and timing your punch to hit them.Ã,  The faster you're moving the more damage is done.
There's an example (100kb gif) here but it's pretty choppy and slow, because the capture software I used was pretty lame.
I'm planning on releasing the source when the game is complete, I'm sure someone will be able to find some useful functions in there (although there's already a couple of thousand lines in the global script, so good luck finding them)...

Progress
Coding - 97% - Barring any unforseen cataclysmic feature additions.
Character Art - 100% - Unless I decide to add more.
Background Art - 99% - Unless I decide to add more.
GUI's & Menus - 95% - Just gotta add some profile for the characters, and a help screen.
Sound/Music - 30%
Plot - 100% non-existent.
Total - I'd say about 90%, but I've got exams starting very soon, so don't hold your breath.

Features
- 640x480 hi color (doesn't run too good on old old machines)
- 6 historical figures to choose from.
- Battle it out with 2 friends on the same keyboard, and against up to 5 computer players.Ã,  (Max of 6 players in a game)
- 10 zany powerups.
- 4 mind blowing arenas (so far)
- High score system thingy
- Dynamic crowd cheering reward a good volley of punches. (I mainly put this in so I could use the word 'dynamic')

Powerups
- Super-Feet - The player is blessed with alarming alacrity.

- Uber-Glove - Stay out of the way of a member who glows red with the power of the Uber-Glove; He's sure to pack a punch.

- Pogo - You won't be able to stop jumping for joy when you pick up Pogo!

- Rocket-Boots - Cruise around in the air, evading enemies, and dropping in again for a well placed punch.

- Matrix - Close proximity to another player will activate 'bullet time'.

- Space-Man - If walking on the moon is your thing, Space-Man is the powerup for you! All player will suddenly find them selves a lot lighter.

- Clone - A clone of the fighter will appear and begin attacking enemy players. The clone can only punch half as hard as you, but also only takes half damage from others. This damage however, is transfered to you.

- Ghost - You cannot be touched unless attacking, run through players to pick up a good bit of speed before striking.

- Cannon-Ball - If you find yourself gaining a lot of weight and turning all black and spherical, you've probably picked up the Cannon-Ball powerup. No need to punch when you're a cannon-ball, merely run into others to do damage. Unfortunately cannon balls can't jump very high, or accelerate very fast.

- Jeebus - Enjoy invulnerability and a steadily increasing health, but don't let others punch you, or they'll be miraculously healed.

Join Duzz in this glorified n00bie test game, as he goes on a fantastic journey of tragedy, adventure, and monotomy.
Duzz Quest is a once in a lifetime experience for all the family.
Huzzah for Duzz Quest. Yeah!

Download here. Ã,  (It's 16meg, sorry dialups)
The Speech Pack is ready now too, Get it at my website. It's 14 meg.
Features:
- One and a Half years in the making
- 16bit color
- Sometimes 320x240, sometimes 640x480 resolution.
- 12 characters
- 20 playable rooms
- An INTENSE action sequence
- 540 spoken lines of dialog (coming really soon)
- Original music by The Midnight Express, and Mr. Clean.
- Craptacular in every sense of the word

History/Explanation/Disclaimer:
Duzz Quest began as my AGS test game. I used a picture I had of my back yard, and put it in the program, making Roger walk around. I was all like "Cool! I can walk around my back yard, like those old sierra games I used to love", so I showed my friend Tim, and he was also all like "Cool! You can walk around your back yard, like those old sierra games you used to love", and it was coool.

So then I added some stuff to it, and then some more stuff, and it became DuzzQuest, and it was cool. People said I walked funny in it, but "Bah!" I said. "Humbug!" I said. "That's what they told picasso!" I said.
Still more things I added, and still more things, bits and pieces, odds and ends, one day a room, the next a plot element, sometimes deluding myself that it would be a decent, playable game, other times just experimenting with AGS. I added a lot of things just temporarily, but never did I remove any of them. And the result is a hodgepodge of meandering, aimless plot, nonsensical, gameplay, and schizophrenic graphic resolution.

There's a story (however banal), behind every little thing in DuzzQuest, from Bamptons Rescue Remedy to Tims terrible secret. I doubt anyone but me will understand all the references, but it is MY egotistic adventure after all.

Any bugs, typos or spelling errors you may encounter were left in intentionally to add to the general ambience of unprofessionalism, any lack in speech quality is the fault of stu's 21st party, and any offence taken at lewd verbalisations of the word kumquat rests entirely on the heads of Helen Clark and Katie Ward.

Almost exactly a year since my first ags release, Wintermute Studios (a.k.a Duzz) presents...

Grr explores the complex sociological issues relsulting from a struggle between a lower class carnival worker, and his tyranical employer...
And you get to hurt stuff!

Download it HERE (4.3 meg)

And here's a Screenshot...

As You can see I decided to go with the title Grr! (suggested by Trap) , subtitled by SSH's terrible pun 'Bearly Sane'... for now anyway =P

Edit: (28/12/03)
well, it's done, look here for info...

I discovered MOHO yesterday and made this little animation.  It doesn't really fit into the game, but I thought I'd put it up here, cause I think it's pretty cool =)  It's DivX encoded avi video.
small version (~800kb)
Large version (~4Mb)

-------------------

This is Dan.

Recently Dan's wife left him, takeing with her most of his worldly possessions. Declareing bankrupcy cleared his debt, but he has been living off scant casual work for a while now and can only just afford to keep his small suburbian apartment.

Dan has taken up a job at a carnival, working for a tyrannial employer: who seems to live only to be the bane of his employees. As you can see Dan is confined to a putrid bear costume, and forced to pander to childrens amusement, which all too often means bruises, aches and pains for Dan... but he needs all the work he can get.

Today, after a cruel beating from an inhuman little monster:
Dan's boss uses the feeble excuse of poor language to releave Dan of his wages, those same wages Dan was counting on to keep his apartment...

It then only takes small insentive from the bladder of a poorly trained pet for Dan to decree:
"No-one shall leave this godforsaken place alive....."

This game will sport:
- Hi-Color Graphics with 640x480 Resolution.
- A fantastic Coin based GUI that will have you saying "Wow! that's Cool!" one minute, and "This GUI is becomeing more annoying by the second" the Next!
- Plenty O' Animation...
- A Blood pressure meter, allowing you to carefully monitor Dan's Stress levels, too low, and he won't have the guts to do some of the sick, depraved things I'm sure you people will want him to do, too High however.....
- and quite possibly MORE...

I have the following code in my global script.
The problem is that the game skips to the final 'else' (last one in bold) ignoreing the other 'if's (also in bold).  But If I take out the final 'else' the other 'if' statements run fine, so I know they SHOULD be running...  Help!

function repeatedly_execute() {  // put anything you want to happen every game cycle here

 if (IsButtonDown(RIGHT)==0&&IsGUIOn(COIN)==1)  {  //if player releases right btn

   if (GetGUIObjectAt(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy)==0) {
       GUIOff(COIN);
     Wait(1);
     SetMousePosition(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy);
     ProcessClick(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy, MODE_TALK);
   }
   else if (GetGUIObjectAt(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy)==1) {
     GUIOff(COIN);
     Wait(1);
     SetMousePosition(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy);
     ProcessClick(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy, MODE_USE);
   }
   else if (GetGUIObjectAt(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy)==2) {
     GUIOff(COIN);
     Wait(1);
     SetMousePosition(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy);
     ProcessClick(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy, MODE_PICKUP); //hurt
   }
  else {
     GUIOff(COIN);
     Wait(1);
     SetMousePosition(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy);
     ProcessClick(mouseGUIx,mouseGUIy, MODE_LOOK);
   }

   SetMouseBounds(0,0,0,0);
   GUIOff(CURSOR);
   ShowMouseCursor();

 }

I'm running the latest full release AGS, etc

EDIT:  Don't worry, I've figured it out, I had another gui on top of which I thought I had mad non-clickable, but I hadn'it....

sorry for the inconvenience =)

This guy is a disgruntled carnival worker.  After a kid kicks him in the nuts & steals his balloons, a dog pisses on his leg, and his boss docks him for swearing, he's gonna go nuts and start beating people up...

    That's as far as my new game concept goes, I don't know how I'm gonna make it work, so any suggestions, C&C, etc are welcome, on the character and the concept...

I wasn't gonna release this when i started makeing it, but well, I got bored and improved the graphics and gameplay, and voila...
FIFA International Football 2004 - The most realistical soccer game EVER!

A one or two player hotseat soccer game that I made in a week in the holidays, It's actually FUN to play with a friend (something I wasn't counting on when I created it.) Ã,

You basically have to kick the ball into your goal and kick more goals than your opponent before the 3 minute game is up. Press F1 for help on keys and stuff.

There's no animations whatsoever, but it's got a cool abusive commentry thing by my friend (who gave me the inspiration to make this game with his constant, "download Fifa 2003 Man! Ã, I wanna play it..."

You can get the source here.

It's also my first completed AGS game. It's pretty short, but hopefully fun to play, it was fun to make =)

I'm going away tomorrow and won't be back till the 28th, so if i ain't replying to posts, that's why.

Merry Christmas all!
