Ken Gordan - Paranormal Debunker
in
Case 1: The Spoonbender of Israel

The Story

You play as Ken Gordan, Paranormal Debunker, who travels around the world to debunk alleged "paranormal" events, absurd claims, myths, and shameless frauds.

The Screenshots

Meet famous skeptic James Randi, author of "An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural."

Don't let yourself get fooled by the incredibly convincing cold reading techniques!

And finally, confront your biggest enemy:

(I hope the mods can forgive me for this joke thread. Recently, I played the new Ben Jordan game and came up with this joke. I originally planned to wait until April Fool's Day, but I just couldn't way that long. So, I hope you'll find it funny.)

"Dear Mr. Groening

I waited almost two decades and paid 8â,¬ to see Bart's full-frontal genitals?
Congratulations, you jerk, I bet every child molestor will appreciate this movie!
As for me, I want the last 18 years of my life back!!!

Sincerely, a pissed-off fan

PS.: For fuck's sake, fire Al Jean already! He doesn't know, what he's doing!"

Well, maybe I'm a little harsh (on the movie, not on Al Jean), the movie wasn't that bad (if you overlook such things like the fact that Collin, a new introduced character, doesn't contribute a thing to the overall absurd plot)!
But the movie was so trivial and unmemorable, it's like the time I spent in the movie theater vanished into another dimension.
I left the movie theater and was like "Alright, I've just seen The Simpsons Movie and now I'll just go on with my life like nothing has happened."
And do you know why? Because nothing has happened!

Another point is, the niveau dropped pretty badly (see above).
I've always respected the Simpsons because they managed to get along without pushing the envelope of taste too much.
It's like they used the movie as a mere mean to finally do all the things they weren't allowed to on TV.
You go into the movie theater expecting some intelligent jokes and what do you get?
Two policemen making out with each other! (Because homosexuality is so abnormal and therefore funny.)

I'll be honest: I laughed at some moments. But just because you laugh at something, it doesn't mean it's good (just take George W. Bush. God, I hope the Curse of Tippecanoe will kick in soon).

I know there will be people who say "But the shows exists for 18 years! What did you expect?"
Well, are you really going to tell me I'm supposed to enjoy something that has become stale and crappy?
If you are no longer able to produce something enjoyable, don't do it!
But sadly, the time to let the Simpsons die in dignity is long over, and they just keep making it worse!
Why won't they just put an end to the misery?

Well, I digress a little.
What I want to say is: If you want to go see the Simpsons Movie, go ahead, but don't have your expectations too high.

And to everyone who already watched it: What's your opinion?

General Discussion / "Global warming", I wish!

It just hailed here.
Yes, that's right, it hailed.
In July.
Boy, I'm looking forward to global warming!

Watch it... if you dare!

And no, it's not the spoof I found somewhere else on here, it's a better one!

Did anybody else play Runaway 2?
I finished it right now and I though it was really cool!
It is, though, quite a different genre than part 1.
Which means, that it is not a gangster-style game anymore.
But let me proceed...
The beginning is like part 1: Gina is in trouble, again.
The game starts off with the generic plane crash in the jungle.
Gina jumped out with a parachute (well, actually, she was pushed out by Brian. That's how you can tell your boyfriend loves you) and landed in a lake.
So far, so normal, but in the course of the game it turns out, that
Spoiler
Gina was saved by aliens, whose starship is located in the lake.
Yes, you heard me. It's science fiction, alright.
[close]
The game itself is really cool.
It has a lot of action and some cool, even though a little cliché, bad guys.
It reminds a lot of Broken Sword.
Many of the characters of part 1 come back.
It's like a big reunion!
If you played Runaway 2, then you will just have to play Runaway 3.
How I know, there will be a Runaway 3?
Well, the fact that the game ends with the words "to be continued" is a hint.
Yes, even though the game is with its six chapters very long, it's not even close to be the whole story!
Without giving too much away, if you play the last chapter, you incidentally have the feeling like playing Monkey Island.
There are a lot of references.

Phew, this turned out to be a view!
I tend to do this.
Well, I really recommend this game.

However, if you already played it, what did you think?
And if you didn't play it yet, are you still going to do it?

General Discussion / Ban for violent games?
Wed 22/11/2006 05:46:14
Here in germany some guy went mad and ran amok in his school. Again.
And exactly like last time they blame computer games and want to ban violent games.
What happened is a real horrible thing, but I think blaming computer games is going the easy way.
I mean, just because one of the guys had some bloody computer games, it doesn't mean it's the cause for their actions.
A high percentage of killers eat bread in the 24 hours before the act.
So, should we ban bread?
Those games are very popular, but not everybody who plays them walks around and shoots at people in real life.
Before the guy went amok he anounced his actions in the internet and stated, that he was unhappy with the money-controlled world and the fact that already in school everything is just about the money and such stuff.
So, how the heck do they come to the conclusion, that it had anything to do with computer games?

General Discussion / Frikkin' girls!
Sat 02/09/2006 00:34:12
So, this girl in ICQ complained because noone loved her and I took pity for her and tried to solace her.
So, it came, that we chatted every now and then and she seemed to be really nice and sweet.
She lives in my vicinity and one day she asked: "Do you want to go to the Schützenfest?", (please don't ask me what this is) and I said "Sure!"
So I went there but she didn't show up.
She later told me she couldn't come, because she had a car accident and specified her injuries.
And trustful how I am, I believed her.
Today she asked me: "Do you want to go to the Brückenfest with me?" (please don't ask me what this is) and I said "Sure!"
When I arrived there, she called me on my cell phone and asked: "Where are you?"
- "Well, I'm at the bus stop."
- "Alright, I'm there in a minute!"
But she wasn't.
This is when I got suspicious, so I called her and now guess, who answered!
Yes, you are right!
It was her boyfriend!!!
And franky, I wasn't surprised!
However, I had to wait one more hour until my bus home arrived.
And here I am!
Slut!  >:(

Critics' Lounge / My Comics
Sun 20/08/2006 17:55:16
Recently, I spent quite some time on drawing various comic strips, and I really want to hear some feedback!
(And I really hope there is no problem in posting this here!)

Here are two of them (they might contain some spelling or grammar mistakes, since my english is not quite perfect):

If you like them, I might post more!

The Rules
* This is a quiz about adventure gaming trivia. Each installment has about a dozen questions with a common theme, about well-known adventure games, either classics or from the more famous "indie" games. Suggested themes include but are not limited to inventory items, music, easter eggs or forest creatures.
* Each question is worth two points if correct, one for a partial answer, and three if you have a better answer than the person who made up the question.
* This thread is for hints and feedback, as well as noting your participation. Please send answers by PM to prevent people from peeking. The quizmaster will post all answers when the quiz ends.
* As with most activities, the winner of this quiz will be the quizmaster of the next one. In case of a tie, the person who submitted earlier is considered the winner.
* I'm setting a deadline of a week, then give me a few days to look over all answers, and give the winner a few days to come up with something new. The result should be a biweekly quiz, or thereabouts.

Yeah, I know, it took a while, and I'm sorry, but I tried to come up with something halfway good, and here it is:

Iventory Invasion!

Well, what does this cheesy name mean?
Simple: I'll show you a list of things that have been inventory items at any time and you have to name the related (commercial) adventure game.
A little hint: There is no answer twice!
So without further ado, the items:

1. a finger in a jar of formaline
2. a CD with "The feeble Files"
3. an orat-on-a-stick
4. orialchum beads
5. a James Dean puppet
6. A Voralberg key
7. comedy breasts
8. a teleportation hole
9. solomos Key
10. a thing your aunt gave you wich you don't know what it is

EDIT: Yes, I actually meant orialchum beads. I only have the german version of the related game and I just translated back the term. Sorry for that.
And the last thing was actually given by the aunt.
Sorry for this confusion!

Okay, just for the sake of formality...

da rulez:

Ã,  Ã,  * A theme for the competition will be given by the host
Ã,  Ã,  * Participants are required to create a comic (sequential art, i.e. at least two panels,
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, otherwise it's a cartoon, not a comic) adhering to that theme
Ã,  Ã,  * Participants are free to use any techinique for creating that comic
Ã,  Ã,  * Each competition will last half a month
Ã,  Ã,  * The host of each competition will decide on the winner who will also host the next competition

Okay, having that sorted out, the theme:

A day in a geek's life
[/b]
You can't tell me, that you wouldn't come up with something for this, so get busy!!! (...if you want.)

Okay, my first time I provide a script for the voice competition!
Since I am so uninspired, I decided to use a situation from a webcomic I'm planning.
Sound effects are appreciated but not neccesary!

List of characters and some of their mannerisms, so you can understand them better:Ã,  ;)
Tim
Donnie (Ubergeek)
Sabrina (Hobby-slut)
Vicky (Sabrina's bestest girlfriend on the world)

Okay, here goes:

(Tim, Donnie, Sabrina and Vicky are standing at the bus stop, waiting for the school bus.)
Vicky: I'll smoke one, before the bus arrives...
Sabrina: Good idea! I'll too!
(Vicky lights a cigarette and looks over to Sabrina.)
Vicky: Err... Sabrina? You have a tampon in your mouth!
Sabrina: Oh... And I thought, I'm having the clap, again!
Vicky: Oh, the bus is coming!
(Vicky throws away her cigarette and enters the bus, Donnie picks it up and licks it with pleasure)
Donnie: *Sigh!*
Tim: Hey!
Donnie: Yikes!
Tim: What are you doing?
Donnie: I, er, was just assuring, that this cigarette wasn't burning anymore!
Tim: Say, are you in love with Vicky?
Donnie: *Sigh* Yes, it's true! I love her since I accidentally stepped into the girl's room in school and caught her with no pants on!
Tim: I heard more than I wanted to know...
(Later, in school, the bell rings to announce the break. Tim and Donnie leave their class room)
Tim: Hey, look, Vicky is standing over there! Ask her out!
(Tim pushes Donnie in Vickys direction)
Donnie: Oof! Er, hey, Vicky!
Vicky: Yeah?
Donnie: I was wondering, whether you'd like to...
Vicky: Yeah?
Donnie: ...err, club some baby seals?
(Awkward silence)
Vicky: Err... Sorry, but I have to go somewhere, er, where you aren't!
(Vicky walks away, Tim walks over to Donnie and stares at him reproachful.
Donnie: I WAS NERVOUS!!!

The script might contains grammar mistakes. Just correct them.
@ManicMatt: Sorry, that the script contains four characters, but one of them barely has something to say.
I hope, you'll join anyway!Ã,  :D

General Discussion / The Neverything
Wed 22/03/2006 19:58:08
Okay, this is the weirdest thing you will ever see:
http://www.theneverything.com

It's some sort of internet movie.
It's about two brothers who live all alone in a boat, called "The Neverything", on a field in the middle of nowhere.
They don't have any contact to the outside world and never had.
All, what they wear, is underwear and they only feed on milk and cereals.
But one day one of the brothers wants to know, what's beyond their boat.
But here comes the twist:
The two seem to be the mental manifestation of a novel writer, who wrote his destiny, to be a meet with herself.
Check it out.
It's so twisted!
The film is released in fragments.
They release some fragments every week.
There is also a trailer.
