What is a Photoshop Friday?

Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images. The contest usually lasts for a fortnight. Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used. Please make sure your image doesn't exceed the width of the screen.

This week's topic: Shocking adventure game character antics caught on tape! Film at eleven!

Two weeks to the finish line - enjoy! ._.

The name of (my name witheld :P) gives you a clever, quick, analytical mind, but you suffer with a great deal of self-consciousness, lack of confidence, and much aloneness because of misunderstandings. Your idealistic and sensitive nature gives you a deep appreciation for the finer things of life and a strong desire to be of service to humanity. There are times when you experience inner turbulence at your inability to say what you mean. It is far easier for you to express your deeper thoughts and feelings through writing than verbally. You find pleasure in literature, in poetry, and in your ideals and will turn to them when you feel you have been misunderstood.

Pretty accurate....they left out paranoid tho ^_^/ altho I guess its sorta covered.

General Discussion / Take the quiz

Take the quiz ^_^/

Threat rating: High. The Bush administration is
concerned that it may not get a second term.
Therefore, we are going to change the rules so
that each Democrat vote only counts as 0.2
votes because Democrat is a shorter word than
Republican

What threat to the Bush administration are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Quizilla is down sometimes :p so if you get an error, try later. If you get a missing(x) pic, post it anyway, it'll show up later. ^_^

._. Productions Presents: Black Rose

OK, about time I posted about this. This is the story of Agent Rose Black, who's lying low while waiting to give evidence in a trial. A sleazy rotten blackmailer who knew her from when she was undercover is threatening to broadcast her whereabouts. Her mission, should she choose to accept it, is to find the low-life and render him even lower, about 6 feet lower...

Plot: done
Graphics: 90% done
Scripting: In progress

Screenshots:

DaveGilbert is helping me with the scripting and Archangel is doing the music. And m0ds made me a theme. ^_^/

Estimated release date: end of this year or beginning of the next.

Yes :P Another one after C and A, but I think it would be useful. ._.

I think we need a forum that would be a place for people's contributed scripts, images, tutorials, useful script answers to other's problems, GUI's etc. to be posted. Sort of like an open knowledgebase cum(damn, I'd almost forgotten this is a real word! I had to check the dictionary to make sure. ._.;;)  resource pool.

It shouldn't be open to post in; only the moderators should be able to move threads in there. The thread titles should be fairly descriptive.

This way if a mod sees something that's useful, that will likely get buried under 50 threads by the next week, they can move it there. We won't lose all the contributions made by people. The mods will need to be the existing mods of the technical, critics lounge and beginner's tech forums from where threads are likely to be moved there.

Would make a good place to go when you're looking for resources for your game.

As for names...AGS Community Resources, AGS Resource pool, Community Contributions, Community Chest, Hey, look what I found!

You get the idea. Any thoughts?  :)

Background Information:
This is a general drawing activity. Everyone does a drawing on a given theme. There are no restrictions on color, size, res or style or content. Basically, just draw anything relating even remotely to the theme.

This fortnight's theme is: AGS Propaganda. Design a poster in the style of war/government propaganda posters.

This is now fortnightly, same as the blitz. :)

General Info: This is a background-design activity. Draw a background that fits the theme for the round with the given resolution and colour limits.

Right, this time we'll try an underwater castle, as per n3tgraph's request.

640x400, hi colour.

Lots of entries last time, good to see. :)

This time let's try the interior of a haunted house.

320x200 to keep with the last one, 256 colours. It can be scrolling horizontally.

You can draw any room in the house, hallways, main rooms or attics. You get the idea. :P

Edit: Since I won't be around to end this blitz and start the next one, Archangel will be taking over for that ._. k
#14
Right, this is the first time  doing this, so let me explain. ._.

This is a general drawing activity. Everyone does a drawing on a given theme. Its not so much of a compo as just exercising your skills. There is no voting involved.

There are no restrictions on color, size, res or style. Use whatever you feel like using. Usual rules of no nudity/sexual stuff and gore stand. :P

This week's theme is: Mother Goose.

Draw a scene or a twist on a scene from Mother Goose. It can have speech bubbles or captions if you like.

(I'd like to point out that if I didnt add the nudity clause, knowing you people everyone would draw Little Red Riding Hood doing the wolf :P)

For those who don't know what mother goose is, its a bunch of nursery rhymes: http://trmg.designwest.com/contents.html

I'm an EPIC reader and pretty concerned about my privacy as anyone on IRC can tell you (they'll say paranoid, but ignore that :P ).

This is one of the newer items posted on EPIC:
http://boycottbenetton.org/index.html (Click News)
Benetton: No Microchips in Clothes (Yet)
Italian-based clothing company Benetton announced that it has not put Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags in its clothing, despite some reports to the contrary. The company said it will undertake a study of the tracking technology, "including careful analysis of potential implications relating to individual privacy." Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering had organized an anti-RFID boycott of the international clothes manufacturer and vendor. For more information, see Junkbusters' page on RFID. (Apr. 7)

Apparently, they've backed out of it for now but still might use them for 'industrial purposes'.

Doesnt it seem like you're always being watched no matter what you do? I know loads of people will say well you know what, if you're not doing anything wrong, why are you worried? But I think we should be worried. We should be worried as to who has access to this information and what they do with it and how long it exists for. I'm not specifically talking about just this, but the whole tracking infrastructure that is being put in place around us. Keep in mind most of this is not really opt-in. They're not really giving you a choice.

On the one hand the govts seem to be putting in place broad sweeping measures for spying on its own people, which one can at least excuse as security related; on the other hand the corporations continue to track you to find out which neat little bracket they can put you into so they can sell you what you 'need', all while convincing you its for your own good.

While its all in the name of capitalism, and I'm generally pro-capitalism, where does capitalism end and intrusion begin?

Here's a coupla more related links(off the news page there):
http://newswithviews.com/Mary/starrett4.htm
http://www.alientechnology.com/news/The_Internet_of_Things.htm
http://www.itnews.com.au/storycontent.cfm?ID=9&Art_ID=11844

And my general privacy reading links:
http://www.epic.org

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this, is it pointless to be this concerned or does it matter or any other ideas you may have.

Hello :P I have teh proposal to make k.

There has been an increase in the number of competitions and collaborative activities lately. Which is good, because it means we're doing more things as a community. But the posts regarding these various activities are scattered over various forums.

I think it would be a good idea if we had a seperate section under the 'Community' area called something like Competitions and Collaborations or AGS Community Activities. Something along those lines. :)

This will have two effects:
1. The number of stickies in forums will decrease, and people will stop complaining about them.
2. It will be easier for people to find activities they might want to participate it. Right now, they're scattered around the forum.

The stickies in the Activities forum could be the currently running comps and activities. That way everything will be nice and tidy.  :P

Anyone have any opinions, positive or negative, on this?
