Hello boys and girls!  Just thought I'd share this freeware game I've been digging latley.  It's called Armagetron, and it's based on the light cycle races in the classic sci-fi Tron.  The graphics are excellent for such a small download and you can race people over the net.  I highly recommend this one.

You can get it for free here: http://armagetron.sourceforge.net/tron.html

and here asre some screenshots:

I hope some of you get a kick out of this.

General Discussion / Translation help needed
Thu 11/11/2004 02:19:16
whats up forum goons and girls?

ok, here's the score:

There's this song that I really enjoy but there's one hitch, it's in French, and I dont speak one lick of French, so I was wondering if there might be an french speaking AGSer whome would be so kind as to translate this wonderfull peice of music for me to satisfy my interest as to what the song is actually about.

I can provide an mp3 to any willing party.

Hello ladies and Gents!

I aparently won the last contest, so it's my honor and privillage to present this weeks!

The theme here is "Found Sound"

Explainer:  The object here is to make a full musical work of at leat 3 minutes in length that incorporates as a major part of the song a "found sound"  something recorded from everyday life or not everyday life.  The sound cannot be: sampled from any kind of musical instrument or a recording of speech.  The sound may be run through any effects you wish or chopped up however you want.  By major part of the compistion I mean that it cant be a one shot deal thrown into the song at some point,  I mean doing something like using the sound of a door salmming as part of the drums. You can even make the entire track out of found sounds, but it must have some form of musical struture, no noise tracks please.

Entries will be judged on both how the sound is used and how creative you are in what sound you use.

Good luck to all!

General Discussion / Moderator contact info
Tue 18/05/2004 17:26:40
Seeing as I'm a Mod here in the Gen-gen forum,  I thought it might be best to keep the other member's abreast of any change in my contact information, in case my modoratorly skills my be needed by anyone.

New Email:  looptheo@looptheorist.com

you can also contact me on AIM, screenname: looptheo

I've mentioned this before, but emailing me directly wiith problems, concerns, questions or comments is better then using the old "report this to a moderator" button, as that just seems to send me a form email with very little information.

I'll sticky this so other mods can enter there info here if they wish.

Happy messageboarding!

Like a ghost from the past.  I'm making a game after all this time.

It's a spy thriller set in the cold-war era.

downlad the teaser-trailer here:

http://www.looptheorist.com/chouse.exe

it's a standalone movie that you may or my not need flashplyer to watch.   but flashplayer is free and you should have it anyway, so here's your excuse.

it's about 3.1 megs due to the music.

enjoy.

Here's some NPC art:

General Discussion / I found work
Tue 27/01/2004 21:38:19
Well, I started work.

My job so far intails printing out some papers with long lists of seemingly worthless numbers.  Wandering around a wearhouse looking for boxes containing the same said numbers.
Collecting up a predetermined amout of said boxes, and moving them somplace else.

I can feel your envy from here.

It's not bad, I guess.  It will pay the bills and let me save as well, so I cant complain too much.  And starting tomorrow, I move to second shift, so I can skip the getting up a 5 am crap.

It suprises me every time I get a job like this, the overwhelming banality of the american place of common labor.  10's, 100's even 1000's of people (in some cases) reduced in function to little more then an ant or a worker bee.  Moving this from here to there, putting this inside of that....  and the best corporate and industrail america can do to make these jobs more bearable, is add piles of papers and forms, and develop anti-intuitive systems of management.

Ahh what menial labor will do to jump-start the ambition.  And now I face the problem of satying up late tonight so that I can prepare for my shift change.  Nice of them to give me some time eh?

Since the Job market sucks so bad, and I have realized that I dont want another boring, dead-end job, I have decided to start my own handy-man light contracting business.  So far I've been hired to build a small horse shead, re-roof and install a sky-light in a workshop and paint a deck (all before the snow flies mind you)  it looks like I'm doing ok, or will be once the checks start rolling in, which means a may be back on-line at home soon.

I'm also going back to school in january to study radiology.

And thats the lastes from my front.

And you all thought I was dead didintcha!

I cant say for how long, because I honestly dont know.

Here's the deal:

I found out a few days ago that the business I work for will be closing it's doors.  This was my only access to the internet, I dont have it at home, I dont even have a telephone at home, and I will have no disposable income in-which got get my self re-connected.

This is not permenent by any means, but for the time being someone else will have to be acting deputy of the Gen-Gen Gestapo.

I'll miss you all.

General Discussion / Anyone see the Hulk yet?
Mon 23/06/2003 15:00:06
I took my friend out to the movies on saturday for his birthday.

I dug it, not bad for a digital character, and the scene transitions were very interesting.

Anyone else have any thoughts on it?
