General Discussion / Game title request
Wed 16/07/2008 01:40:20
Hello all, it's been a while.  It's nice to see some familiar names.  I recently got back into AGS so, I'm formally saying "yo, what's up" to the whole community.

I also have an ulterior motive for this post, I have a request for you:  I'd like to find some games in which the player controls the environment rather than the characters (e.g. the player turns on spot light and the characters move to examine the illuminated area).  I have a decent idea but I'd like to see a proof of concept.

Thanks in advance

So, like the title of the tread implies, I'm planning a trip to the UK.  Hopefully, I'll have enough cash to sleep in some non-hostel hotels but I'll see.

I'd like to get some suggestions for some places to go that wouldn't be in the category of "tourist traps".  I'm not a big fan of tourist guides because underneath it all it's just kickbacks and bribed positive reviews.  I'm interested in seeing London, but I would also love to see my ancestral home, Dublin (I am well aware that Ireland isn't technically part of the UK).

Any help is welcome.  Thanks all!

I was thinking about the history of gaming today.  I was wondering what you folks would choose as the games that can be enjoyed by all, like if you had kids what games would you want them to play or if you wanted to show them a history of gaming which games would be included.

This is my list(in no particular order)

1. Space invaders (Atari)
2. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
4. Pong (Atari)
5. Tetris(NES)
6. Mike Tyson's Punch Out(NES)
7. The Secret of Monkey's Island (PC)
8. The Oregon Trail (Mac)
9. Katamari Damacy (PS2)
10. NBA Jam (Genesis)

This may seem like a really noob request  and maybe I don't know the right terminology to find the info I require via the manual, or maybe it can't be done but this is what I'd like to do:

I've set up two rooms, when the character moves from one room to another there is a fade out of the first room and a fade into the next. What I'd like to have is music (an MP3 if that makes a difference at all) starting on the fade out of the first room and continuing on into the next room. There must be a scripting function to do this but my knowledge of this program is limited at best.

Thanks for the help!

Modify: Gilbot you are right in saying the music will continue from one room to the next and the play music function is working fine. Thanks for the input.  But I have yet to find a way of triggering music to start playing on the fade out of the initial room.
