I'm thinking of buying an LCD for my PC but for someone like me and many of you guys who uses the PCs primarly for low resolution games - old games and AGS games, and I understand it's problematic to run such games on LCDs, especially widescreen LCDs which seems to be the only thing that's left selling atm. I understand the much higher resolution of those widescreen LCDs just doesn't allow 230x200, 640x480 etc resolution games to run on it and there's no option to run in 4x3 on it. I don't really have much interest in watching stuff on HDTV on my computer or new games with super graphics. The main reasons for buying an LCD are health (no rediation) and space.
What do you think?  how is your experience with LCDs?

I need to either open the lock on my car's wheel or open the lock on truck (probably that one first). I have other than what you get when you start the game the robot's disk, luggage, traffic cones, fire extingisher, parking ticket and air bag. What do I do next?

So umm what is there to do here?
I picked up the jelly babies but it doesn't look like there's anything else to do in this room and it doesn't seem like there are other rooms to go to. I tryed to walking in different directions off the screen but no go. So what do I do here?

Hey all, here's something fun for us to play.
The NBA Stock Exchange is an NBA Fantasy League based on buying and selling players on a daily basis. You begin with virtual 300$m and throughout the season players value change according to their performances. You get points according to what the players you selected to put in your lineup did on the court in real NBA games.
I have opened a Private League just for us AGS members.
Winner of the league will get a banner to put in his sig here (that if ops approve)

1) register (for free) at NBA.com. When prompted to choose a screen name to be displayed, put in the same nick you use here!! 
2) go to http://nbase.nba.com/group/main/home, create a team and choose your players (read How To Play first)
3) Go to My Leagues tab \ Join Leagues button (depends on which screen you are in), enter

I'm starting this thread to share knowledge about unique PC Games. To let each other know of something they nver thought had existed as a game.
What do I mean unique?  PC Games that do not belong to any known genre, or that they are unique in their genre, games that have an original and unique concept that there are no other games like it. I do not mean one thing in the game is unique, I mean the game's concept itself is unique. Now I do NOT mean Adventure games here, so please don't post them. And I know there are some old games that fit this description (example: alter ego male\female) but PLEASE keep it to games from the year 2000 - present including games yet to be released.

My contributions:

Ship Simulator 2006 and Virtual Sailor: games that present an accurate simluation of driving differnet kinds of ships in differnet surrondings. Sure, there have been many boat\shi[ driving arcade games, but those are simulators - the weather effects the ship realistically, the steering is realistic (if you have a big cargo ship or a huge Titanic style passenger ship it will be long, slow and hard to turn it etc). Ship Simulator is mission based and Virtual Sailor is a more open sailing game.

New Star Soccer 3: A unique soccer career game in which you play only ONE player on the field out of the 11 in it. The graphics are primitive for the time kinda like Striker 95 style but the uniqueness of player with one player makes it worthwhile.

The Movies: The game which puts you in charge of a movie studio creating your movies, managing the actors etc.

Spore: A game yet to be released, to be released sometime in 2007 in which you play the evolution of a species from being a single cell organism throguh evolution into an intelligent species until the stage where it achieves space travel. It combines 6 different styles\genres that change as your specie evolute.

Spore is, at first glance, a "teleological evolution" game or god game: the player molds and guides a species across many generations, growing it up from simple prokaryotic microbiota into a more complex animal, until the species becomes intelligent. At this point the player begins molding and guiding this species' society, progressing towards a spacefaring civilization. Spore's main innovation is the use of procedural generation for many of the components of the game, providing vast scope and open-endedness. Wright said "I didn't want to make players feel like Luke Skywalker or Frodo Baggins. I wanted them to be like George Lucas or J.R.R. Tolkien."
Spore will be a simulation that "ranges from the cellular level to the galactic level". It will consist of several long phases, each with its own style of play. In his Game Developers Conference speech, Will Wright likened the style of game-play of each phase to an existing game:

   1. Tide Pool Phase, similar to Pac-Man
   2. Creature Phase, Diablo
   3. Tribal Phase, Populous
   4. City Phase, SimCity
   5. Civilization Phase, Risk and Civilization
   6. Space Phase (a.k.a. UFO stage or Invasion), with some elements reminiscent of Destroy All Humans!, and later, sandbox gameplay.

Each phase of the game determines the starting point of the next phase. In the Game Developers Conference presentation, the creature that Will Wright was presenting during the creature phase was based on his earlier cell creature (in having three legs, a tail, eyes and mouth in roughly the same positions) that he had evolved through gameplay. He also mentioned that how each phase is played develops the creature's personality, referring to whether the creatures would be logical or emotional, peaceful or violent, among other attributes.

So I have decided to play again all AGS games I have from the beginning (of time), You know the Rob Blanc, Larry Vales etc. era (ahhhh the good old days) till today. Problem is I have XP and the old games that came with the old dos Adventure Creator (ac.exe) like Larry Vales work but can't play music and smear the graphics when you move the mouse when there's a conversation box. Some games, like the Rob Blanc series, had been released with win mode. But now I want to play Larry Vales and can't play the music. So I tryed different things. VDMsound makes scratchy noises and weird horrid noises when trying to emulate the old sound blaster music. DOSbox doesn't work well with ags games for some reason. I tryed for the long shot and right-clicked the larryvtd.exe-->options-->compatiblity-->win95 compatiblity mode, still didn't play the music.
So is there any way to play the old dos AC games with music under XP?

Hey all,
A friend recommended it so I started playing Star Control 2 and I really like it but I find the battles part too hard & frustrating, to a level that prevents from playing the game any further.

Anybody has any cheats or trainer for winning the battles or at least good tactics to make it easy?

I'm trying to install a game and setup stops right after initialization reporting an error in the DRC stub.
What does this mean and how do I fix it? 

According to the walkthrough on agshints.tk that Spyros wrote I'm supposed to use the bar in the forest on the lid.

I usually don't take my personal life to the internet but maybe your advice would help me pass this.

I have a huge problem with this girl. She's been my best friend ever since I knew her, last December. We were the best of friends. In the beginning I wanted her to be my girlfriend but it didn't work out, we are too different. We agreed that it's not good for us to be romantically involved. We had a lot A LOT of fun together. We even was in Barcelona together (only us) last month for 5 days. But with that always came a lot of fights. Small fights, big fights, huge fights. That's because we are too differnet. We are the complete opposite of each other. Everything one of us likes the other one don't. A lot of things we say or do meaning positively are accepted negatively by the other one. At times we couldn't stand each other. At one time we didn't speak for 2 weeks and then we agreed to not fight over things anymore. But of course it didn't work. I was giving and giving, doing things for her  that she didn't do back when I was in the same situation. Giving up on things for her, suffering things I don't like just for her to be happy while she wasn't doing the same for me. So I stopped. I had a lot of fun with her but with it came a lot of suffering, being hurt, being humiliated, getting depressed. But always I in the end forgave it in order to be friends with her again cos she is the only real female friend I have or ever had. But esterday she did the thing that finally broke it. We went to vacation in a hotel with my family. We were supposed to go Wednesday till Sunday. Since we arrived she ruined my vacation not wanting to do anything, wasting time, fighting almost. Then we woke up yesterday (Friday) morning and she got pissed and decided to just fly home. After everything I did for her. I invited her to my family's annual hotel vacation, we gave her everything she wanted and needed and she just leaves and thus totally ruining my vacation. I flew home too cos I have nothing to do there alone. I tryed to persuade her not to leave but she wasn't listening. After all the hell she put me through I told her that if she does this she can forget about me cos I will not be friends with her anymore. And that I did. I'm sick and tired of her manipulations. For that I can't forgive her.

Now the problem is without her I have no girl in my life. No girl has ever been this close to me (unromantically). She put me through hell and for that I don't want her back but on the other hand I always remember all the good times we had together. She will always have a corner in my heart, for sure. There is just unexplained love for her in my heart that doesn't go away despite all what she does to me. Now I know I decided to never be her friend again because of her behaviour but it's always hard for me when I see her or think about her, remembering the good times. For some reason I still love her (as a friend) despite it all and it's hard for me to deal with it. I see her and wish her to be mine again wishing all the crap she did to me to just not be there. That's my heart. But my brain says I should not be in any relationship with her because she hurts me all the time. I KNOW we shouldn't been in a relationship but feelings of love are not something I can control.

How do I deal with that?
