Hi, everyone
Haven't posted anything for ages since I sort of put my game on ice. Inspiration returned, resulting in me writing an almost complete script for Chapter I of my game and resuming work on backgrounds. The last thing I posted was the house in this topic: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=35177.0
Now, here is a completely redone version. Forgot to check if AGS will scroll upwards, but i assume it does.

Comments, kudos and criticisms will be appreciated!

Critics' Lounge / Is it finished?

I can't stop fiddling about with this one. Should I stop now? Is there anything that should be improved. Is it a bit too orange?

Critics' Lounge / C&C on problem room
Mon 30/06/2008 14:09:05
Hi. I thought I didn't want more C&C now, as I've been getting more confident. However, I can't seem to get this room right. In this room the view changes to the first person perspective, so there need not be room for the sprite. Somehow, though, it just doesn't feel right. I might want to redo the whole room on account of the boring perspective, but I think you can have the odd room with one vanishing point, for the sake of variety.
Help, suggestions, paintovers: all very welcome

Critics' Lounge / C & C for outdoors BG
Tue 03/06/2008 22:09:16
Hi

You might remember my witch's house interior and other stuff from earlier (go to wqpd.blogspot.com for a reminder). Here is my first outdoors background, featuring the exteriors of aforementioned buildings.

This is a work in progress - but I am pretty much pleased with it so far. However, seeing as I learnt so much from the last time I posted here, I thought I'd post this up just to see if there's any constructive criticism out there.

BTW, apologies for the size. I'd post a thumbnail if I knew how.

Critics' Lounge / C & C for BG and sprite

Please note that this GIF is 256 colours, whereas the original image is 32-bit.

This is from my game in production (working title Witch Quest). All in all I'm pretty satisfied with it, but there are bound to
be things wrong with it that I have not seen. Please let me know what you think before I start animating stuff.

EDIT: see www.wqpd.blogspot.com for more details and info.

Referring to this thread: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=32745.40

The bloody thing stopped working again. Same problem: the coin will not appear when I click objects or hotspots that are near the lower and right-hand edges of the screen when running the test game. I've tried all solutions suggested in the previous thread.
I'm at 800 x 600, using 3.0.1 and the most recent update of the GUI.
Also: the cursor won't change over hotspots anymore. It used to do that in the previous ver (after I found out that the active cursor was a VIEW and not a cursor), but won't now.
Sorry if I it's all my own fault somehow. I might be missing something obvious.

Hi y'all.
Check this out: http://wqpd.blogspot.com/ (my production progress diary).

From the diary:

Witch Quest (working title) Production Diary

This blog has been created in order to keep anyone that might be interested up to date on the progress of my AGS-based adventure game Witch Quest.

The production of this game is purely a hobby. If it starts resembling work, or takes on any other life-destroying characteristics, production will be discontinued. At the moment I'm doing everything myself, that is I design, draw and animate all of the sprites, I draw all of the backgrounds, I write all the music and I (will) do all of the scripting. The latter part is something that I'd like to outsource at some point in the future, since it is not, nor is it likely to become, my area of expertice. Fortunately, the AGS community is full of talented and helpful people, some of which might be interested in contacting me. That remains to be seen, however, and depends on how much I will be able to do on my own.

My progress so far:
-The graphic style and overall idea of the game is pretty much in place.
-The storyline has an overall idea, but only the first part exists in any significant detail.
-Puzzles are integral to the story, I believe. Hence, I have only developed puzzles for the first part of the game, and even those are only 50% finished.
-The first part of the game will contain about 20 rooms (including a map screen).
-Seven rooms are thumbnail sketches,
-Two rooms are finished drawings (pencil on paper).
-One room has been scanned and coloured with Photoshop.
-The remainder exist in my head only.
-The main sprite has been designed and one walk cycle (left) has been animated. When this is perfected I will make the other three (eight are too much work) + talking and other animations.
-Other characters are developed but have not yet been designed to perfection. Or "perfect".
