So, I'm releasing again "The Digital Spell". What is new, you ask? nothing really, except for the fact that you can download it now! yay!

The thing is that I was remodeling my web-page, and found out that the place where I was hosting the game files, had deleted them who knows how long ago. So although this is an old game, many of you might have never had the chance to play it.

If I remember correctly, because I wrote the story a while back, you play as a pair of mages sent to find this powerful enchantment called The Digital Spell. As the title suggests, this has something to do with magic and technology, but the take is not like we've seen in games like "The Longest Journey", and such. Here magic and technology coexists, harmoniously (I believe... as I told you, I don't remember).

It is a kind of universe like the ones found in the pages of Heavy Metal magazines, but without the adult situations. I've been meaning to write a game like that, but despite my intentions, they always end up being PG, or PG-13 at the most. Anyway, I'm rambling. The thing is that the game has an atmosphere that reminisces those sci-fi European comics, but it has a slight irreverent tongue I cheek humor. A mixture I'm sure you are not used to, but one I hope you'll enjoy.

The game itself is not like most adventure games. The idea came after re-playing Lucasart's "Loom". In particular, getting to figure out how to play it is the first puzzle. But don't worry, it's not that hard (nor is the game nearly as hard as Exile).

Get it here!

General Discussion / Where to host?
Sat 17/02/2007 04:59:16
OK. Maybe this is not the best forum for this, but I just realized Justadventure had deleted my game files. So, now I'm looking for a reliable place to host them, and was wondering which was the best (to do it for free, of course).

Critics' Lounge / What to do with a dead body?
Thu 06/07/2006 20:17:33
Hi

I'm looking for some ideas on a puzzle, and would appreciate any you guys care to give me.

The Character wakes up in his apartment, with a dead girl's body next to him. He doesn't remember what happened. Looking around reveals that last night was one of passion and drugs (and amnesia).

So, the guy must get rid of the body. He must take it to the dumpster, as throwing ir out the window will probably, attract some attention.

What kind of obstacles does this journey (carrying a dead girl) present?

I have this so far:

1) While carrying her, on the distance a door opens, an old lady coming his way. He must kiss the corpse to apperar as if making out while the lady gets to her apartment.

2) A dog grabs her feet, and he must get rid of it before it attracts too much attention.

3) He gets her into the elevator, but a shoe falls off. When he goes to get it back, the elevator door colses. Taking the body with it. He must run and distract the person which called the elevator before the door opens.

Any more ideas would be deeply appreciated.

thanks.

Advanced Technical Forum / Some questions
Fri 09/01/2004 20:33:05
it´s been a while since I´ve been here, and I had some inquireis on how things have changed. here they go:

1) Is it posible to give each character it´s own dialog font?
2) I want to do closeups of ny characters when they talk. (like scummbar in momkey 1, but with cuts. (when I talk I see a closup of me, when the other replies, I see a closup of him). Can I do this with quest4glory kind of dialogs, or I´m stuck with a room per shot?
3)can I change the width of the True Tipe font outline (it´s a bit thin in 800x600 for my taste)
4) Can I have true type fon t anti alias against he background ( with player speech)?

thanks

I was wondering guys; which are some good basic plots for adventure games.

I'm writing and found out that I can get very repetitive in my chapters (or parts if you prefere the Monkey Island reference) in terms of what the main goal is. As of now, I have the player:

-Gather the peaces to fix something in order to leave.
-Escape.
-Rescue.
-Infiltration.

(in other words: "Getting out", or "Gettin in")

And soemhow I have come across a writer's block, and can't think of anything else to be the goal of a chapter.

Can you guys throw me some ideas?  maybe things already done in comersial adventure games that I might not have seen. I'm sure There must be thousands, but at this point, I can't think of any more.

I've published the source files from Exile, minus the videos. This includes graphics and game code. It is provided so you can learn how the scripting was done, and so you can recycle graphics, rip the GUI, make sequels and go nuts ;)

(let me know how it goes, and if you have trouble)
