Residential Green hasn't updated in ages! OMG NO! But what's this?

TO THE REEEEEEESCUE

-----------------------------------------------------------

If games like A Mind Forever Voyaging and Starship Titanic are the hefty literary classics of the Interactive Fiction genre, the ADVENTURES OF ANGELO DEADHAND are the shlock you buy in airport terminals to while away the time on your transatlantic flights. Critics called them trash designed for the lowest common denominator. Average people thought they were the best. Eighteen Angelo Deadhand games were released in all, with a further twenty-two planned, before the series' reclusive creator vanished under mysterious circumstances. Angelo Deadhand was forgotten in 1993, along with the entire genre of interactive fiction.

This is the seventh adventure, taking place immediately after ANGELO DEADHAND AND THE LUNAR CAPER. Angelo's experiences on the moon have left him scarred, but he's already back on the case.

So yeah I'm makin a sequel.

Many years after those other things happened, our hero Rolande wakes up in a darkened room and things start to happen again.

The story begins amid the ancient ruins of the Lost People. Centuries ago they built an enormous city here, but they never lived in it. Why not? Nobody knows. Living things still haunt the ruins. Something is sleeping far beneath the earth. Rolande comes to the ruins looking for an old friend, and things kind of spiral out from there.

FEATURING!
* Listless ghosts!
* Creepy fairies!
* The mysterious ruins of an ancient civilization!
* Puzzles involving runic magic!
* Original soundtrack up the whazoo!

lol guys, you should make a REAL game about Oceanspirit Dennis :)

Okay.

I pride myself on knowing a bandwagon when I see one, and Dennis has a funky way of capturing the imagination. Hence this attempt to bring something new and exciting to the table, namely, AN ACTUAL RPG ENGINE!!!

FEATURES:
* LEVEL UP and raise THREE UNIQUE SKILLS: Magic Skill, Blocking Skill, and Whacking Stuff until it Falls Over Dead!
* The most exhilarating TURN-BASED COMBAT the world has EVER experienced!!!
* An ALL-NEW and PAINFULLY brief story set ten million, or perhaps billion, years into the OSD mythos!!!
* Perhaps the visual low point of the entire Oceanspirit Dennis Saga!!
* LENS FLARE!!!

Game!

Source!

Assembled in an afternoon. Production quality is very high.

Well here's another compo at last! Apologies for taking so long, my brain was obviously paralyzed by the sheer weight of awesome from the previous one.

Here is your theme: WAR STORIES

It can be about a historical war, a modern war, or a completely imaginary war, it can be about soldiers or non-coms, just as long as it's set against the backdrop of some kind of War. Have fun! If my counting skills are still working I think you've got until around March 4th to churn something out.

Completed Game Announcements / Shades of Greye
Tue 26/01/2010 22:04:07
You are Montmorency Greye, a private investigator, gun-toter and name-taker. One fateful night you are sent to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances in an isolated whaling town. Before long you're fighting for your life. That's right, YOUR LIFE!

This is a shooting game featuring a variety of exciting and challenging puzzles, such as "How much lead must I pump into this shambling monstrosity before it dies," and "Oh crap what is that in the dark behind me?!" If you like shooting at things until they fall over, this is the game for you!

MAGS entry for January, and so far it seems the only entry :'(

Here is the game itself!

So I'm making a game that's controlled by the keyboard. For hotspot interactions, I'm drawing hotspots on the ground. A label gets the name of the hotspot at the player's coordinates. Pressing an "interact" key causes an interaction to be fired at the player's coordinates. This has all been working perfectly smoothly for some time.

Now I've started using scrolling rooms. Initially this seemed to work just fine. But in certain rooms the whole hotspot seems to have been shifted a fair distance over to the left. The label says I'm touching it, and the interact key works on it, but it's in entirely the wrong place. I checked in the room editor and the hotspot is drawn somewhere completely different from where it appears in the game. This happens with objects too.

I've meddled with this a bit. It always seems to happen when the hotspot is on the far right side of a room, i.e. you have to scroll across the room to get to it. So far it only seems to happen if you enter the room on the far left side. If you enter a room on the far right, all the hotspots appear in the correct places.

I find this behaviour completely bizarre. Anyone know what's going on?

I'm using version 3.1.2.

Fortnightly Writing Competition

The rule is: The Unreliable Narrator!
It's pretty simple: The story should be told by a first-person narrator who cannot be entirely trusted. Maybe he's mentally unstable, maybe he's putting his own spin on things because of twisted rage. Whatever the case, the guy telling the story isn't telling the whole truth, and that should eventually become apparent to the reader.

Have fun, y'all!

I am the last of the treasure hunters.

I've spent my whole life finding treasure: not boring ordinary treasure, real treasure, under mountains, in dark jungles, at the very ends of the earth. You'd think I'd be rich, but I'm not. It usually gets taken away. Museums get rich. I don't. I just keep going. It's all I really love.

Not long ago I got an unusual call. Most people don't know I exist, except government interferers and museum curators, and a few real die hards of treasure hunting who wish the good old days would come back. They won't. But I digress. I got a call from a man called Lord Fern, asking me to find a something for him. It's not something I ever do, find things for other people, but I've been getting bored and tired with my usual expeditions, and besides I haven't been on a usual expedition for over a year now. I'm beginning to fear that there isn't anything left for me to find.

So I accepted.

Of course, there's a lot more to Fern Island than is immediately apparent: there seems to be a ghost haunting the abandoned lighthouse, and Lord Fern and his house guests all act suspiciously like they're hiding something. Not to mention what I keep seeing in the mirror.

Look! This place has a front door!

And there's a well-stocked library.

Weather's not so good, though.

This is the very first game I have ever released, so I'm eager to be lambasted for incompetence, i.e. criticism is appreciated. If you happen to like it, I won't complain about compliments either.
