Wish I knew what they're so sad about!

This is really impressive, Neole! Good to see you can do male anatomy too, well, at least andro-hippus anatomy!

Have you ever thought about trying to do a short animation? Not sure what programs you'd use - maybe flash.

Loominous,

These are very impressive. The orchestral arrangements are lovely, having subtlety and a classical "colour" to them, from strings to brass. It sounds to me like you're very familiar with instrument layering techniques used in movie scores from the last decade or two. The one called S reminds me also of the American Beauty soundtrack.

The quality is certainly up there with the moody music I've heard in the latest commerical adventure game titles.

Of the others, my favourite is the Kr one. Fantastic! If you filled this out into a full piece, I'd probably buy the single!  :)

Wow, this is very good! Good pose and proportions.

Besides the face as mentioned, I feel that there's just one problem. His right cuff-shield (that metal thing on his wrist) seems to have more detailed shading than the rest of the picture, for example his belt buckle.

I think the only thing that's a bit manly is the musculature on the left arm. The tricep beginning below the shoulder is very powerful looking (like someone with a modern gym routine), out of proportion with the back. All of this is just an effect of the hashed shading. I agree that the line between the buttocks needs to be defined a little higher, but maybe she just doesn't work out her lower body!  :-\

I'm just getting blown away by the level of artistry being shown on these forums over the last couple of months. Especially recent work from Neole, Xadhoom, plasticman, trapezoid, laserschwert, erwin and scotch. It'd be great if a dream team could be combined to make an awesome serious title. (wishful thinking!!)

Dude, this is awesome stuff. Like everyone has said, I can't wait to see a game with this art. Keep it up!

Maybe it's just me, but when I looked a second time at Gabriel, I thought the flowing shirt outline made him look like he has breasts...

Haha this is awesome! I feel like I'm about to see obelix coming down the path with two wild boars under his arms.

Couldn't resist posting in this topic!

I think I agree that it's a difficult thing to do well. Speaking of Final Fantasies, I think no. 8 did a good job, but the romance was really the main theme for the two main characters. The whole story REVOLVED around the humbling relationship between these two.

Gabriel Knight 2 was done awesomely - I loved the realism and "maturity" of Gabe and Grace's relationship, but I think this effect was easier to achieve because the game used FMV and actors. (the Von Glower thing was powerful too - Jensen really picked up something profound about the male psyche). I really didn't "feel the love" in GK3.

I agree about Grim Fandango, nice romantic elements there.

The two biggest recent adventure titles I've played (TLJ and Syberia) focus on self-discovery rather than romance.

I see the solution to this problem as a choice between going for something mature and realistic, or something symbolic and "superficial". Computer games have traditionally gone with the latter, but it shouldn't be placed in a game with otherwise "mature" character development.

Frobozz: Yeah, I had to go with flint too, she was just more real or something!

(man it's been ages since I've posted on this forum, but I have been lurking!)

I actually really like this, archangel. It's a different look and I think it'll work well in an adventure game. The only thing that bugs me is the thin neck and fat head that you see in the front view. Maybe you could bring the collar up one pixel to limit that effect.
