Messages - SeventhBard

Oh bleedin' heck, EVERY time. I swear if I make that same spelling error one more time the goddess herself will come down and bean me one. Guess it's lucky I didn't specialize in ancient Egyptian folklore.  ::)

(resent, with the actual spelling and not the English-a-fied one my brain likes to supply)

Oh dear! I sent it to admin@wadgeteyegames.com, because it was the address on the website.

Oh, except that gmail is telling me I fail at sending mail. Curses! Maybe that was my problem on Thunderbird too, I could have typed it up wrong. What is the correct address?

Woohoo! Totally entered. The Blackwell games hold a special place in my heart. I'm pretty sure very nearly every game there is could be bettered by the addition of supernatural elements. ;)

Er... don't be confused if you happen to accidentally get the email twice. First I tried using my website email, because I was trying to see if I could get it to work (NOPE LOL THANX THUNDERBIRD), but apparently I can recieve but not send until I actually figure out what I am doing, sooo I just sent it from my gmail instead.

;D

Oh and Noa, thanks for taking what might be the only good recent photo of me in existence. For whatever reason the camera tends to catch me only when I'm in a weird pose, making a bizarre face, or have wet hair or disheveled clothes. Maybe I just look like that most of the time? XD Naw but seriously though, the trampoline pic with my hands in the air is fantastic!

I love being the latest late person! :D

Most of you missed it but Matt joined the Irish army!

This has been my favorite Mittens! Italy was the most beautiful but it was my first and I was piss-scared of everybody. XD It was way better this time around.

I am going to be annoying and ask to be called Kimberleigh if peeps can remember, though. Just a personal pref but I can never get anybody to call me by my name! XD My handle's fine too if that's easier. If SeventhBard is still thwarting you with the three syllables thing Sev is acceptable and so is Bard. Cuz I'm the storyteller and all that. I tend to try to remain gender neutral on most gaming forums I'm part of but since a lot of you have met me in person now I'd suppose that to be something of a moot point. ;)

I'm going to jump on the messages-to-everyone bandwagon, because frankly I like the idea!

abstauber - I was happy to meet you! Your cheerfulness is infectious and I hope we get to see more of each other at susequent Mittens!

AGA - You take all the ribbing you get with a kind of surly grace, neither taking things lying down nor letting it trouble you unduly and I've always thought that was cool of you! Mostly I just like you, and I like the way you have a tendency to stick up for stuff you feel strongly about. You are a neat person to know.

bicilotti - You are probably the most suave and fashionable person I know, and yet somehow instead of making me feel like a total slob when I stand next to you I always instead feel very welcome and treated rather like a lady, which is terribly cool, and you are happy to express how it feels to be with your friends. I would definitely not kill you with a banana for realz because I think you are the sort of person who is very giving of themself and we could do with more of those around.

cat - You are super fun and you always seem to enter into the spirit of things! Also I am really grateful for your help with teaching me some of the finer points of AGS. One of these days I'll actually finish a game and you'll be in the credits. ;)

Creed Malay - Well the whole thing's your fault innit? ;D My favorite mister, what would I do without you?

CJ - You just kind of make me happy. I like your easygoing nature, your willingness to be open to others' points of view, your generosity of spirit and your general Jonesieness, which is harder to quantify. Thanks for being a gracious host and doing all the driving. XD And don't forget October! I will bake pie. Hellz yeah.

Disco - Michigan just breeds cool people I guess. ;) You are a funloving and affectionate sort of fellow and I like to be around you. Also thanks for staying cool when I accidentally flashed you in the hostel. Brofist.

Esseb - You're one of the most interesting people I know and I always look forward to talking with you! I was so excited when I knew you were coming this year because I knew that whatever else happened it wouldn't be dull. Also you take some of the neatest photos ever. And I will always remember and appreciate the way you took pains to engage with me on previous outings when I was intimidated by so much strange company because after that I felt more like I fit in. Yay!

Grundislav - Wherever you look, there is Grundislav in the thick of things. You have an insatiable enthusiasm for... everything! I love your vitality and your friendliness and your entertaining hijinks.

Jake - We didn't get the chance to talk much, but I like the way you smile as though you've got some kind of secret joke, and I like the way you seem to take the world in stride.

Layabout - You jumped into all the shenanigans like you were born to it and were friendly with everybody and I thought that was awesome! You are the best banshee hunter I know.

LimpingFish - I was really glad to meet you and I found you to be a very warm and sincere person and I really hope we get to meet again. And also you get a billion banshee points for making a scary game because those are my favorite.

Magintz - I'm sorry we only got to see you for like, a day, because I would have liked the opportunity to interact with you more. So you'll just have to come to the next trip!

Matt - Can't wait for you to come over and get gamemaking with me and the Creedster! It was so neat getting to know you better on our swanky little roadtrip home and hanging out with you on the museum day was a lot of fun! Can I call you mushroom, cuz you're such a fun guy? Sorry, couldn't resist. If we're still friends after that pun then you must be pretty cool.

Miez - You have a creative energy that I really vibe with and I find hanging out with you very soothing in a way I can't quite describe. I'm always happy to be around you.

m0ds - You are vivacious and interesting and fun and I like hanging out with you. Get on a bus and come visit us sometime!

(I mean, you can all get on a bus and come visit us but uh, some live closer than others which makes that a little easier...)

Noa - It was so fun cooking with you, and thanks for being so friendly and kind. You were fun to hang out with and easy to talk to. And I love seeing you and Tzach interact because it makes me feel like love is a living thing that breathes and moves, I don't know how to describe it. I hope Davy and me look like that in another two years. ;)

Ouxx - It was great to meet you too! You had a good deal of capacity for fun despite the computer issues that were confounding you and next time it'll be so neat to see you unwind more. :D

Snarky - I admire your forthrightness and even though we haven't had a lot of opportunity to talk so far I am always glad to see you and I like having you around!

Tzach - You're funny and open and I love the way you really get into the spirit of trying new things. I like your positive energy and you and Noa are an awesome couple of people and I hope I get to see you both again sometime.

Good times, good times.

As previously mentioned by Creed, we are home safe. Hamster is alive and well despite not being cuddled for nearly two weeks and none of the potted plants expired so we're doing well awesome here in Sunderland!

We're both stoked that everything has all turned out so well and between that and being more or less too tired to sleep we are both up on the computers instead of sacked out in bed where we probably ought to be since it is about one thirty am and we've been on a bus for seven hours. BUT WE ARE HARDCORE. XD

Just wanted to offer my XTREME BELATED thanks for the help with the scripts! Can't believe I didn't post this earlier, I just noticed today when I went to have another look at your samples. Oy.

The Day That Nothing Happened! has the distinction of being the first game I worked on that actually made it to a finished product! Woohoo! My role was very minor but it feels like a milestone anyway. :D

There is a background cameo of my prototype hamster character from my as-yet-unrealized Cage Escape game.

This was buckets of fun and I'm excited to work on more!

I apologize in advance at the newb-tacularness of this query.

Problem is, it's been a few years since I've worn the programmer hat, and I was never that advanced when I was wearing it. I can't seem to recall the correct language to ask for what I want to do beyond ("er I need an IF/THEN but uh, IF what THEN what?" doesn't go over well in the search engine ha ha) which has made looking up the answer myself more difficult than I first thought. I searched the tutorial, poked around these pages, played the demo game, and finally poked around the code in the demo game, but I am still a bit at a loss.

I'm making a two-room exploration game to try to learn the program and get a feel for the scripting. I've got a hotspot that is set to display some text when you talk to it. I've also got an object that you can pick up and use to interact with the hotspot. What I would like to do is set it so that AFTER you use the object on the hotspot, it from then on displays a different message upon being talked to. Can anyone point me where I should be looking for tips on how to code things like that?

Thanks much!

Here there be pictures-- of Mittens!

Yeah okay so I'm too lazy to do more than link to my photostream but c'mon, all the Italy stuff is in front. ;D

Good times, good times.

Officially DL'd the program now so I can work on the forthcoming game (and thanks to everyone who encouraged me to try it).

OMFG SCARY STRANGER WHO THE HELL IS THIS?!

No but seriously, it's just Kimberleigh/Lucietta, your friendly neighborhood bossy psychic. I should have just told Ben it was Mr. Green in the lobby with the socket wrench.

In an (unprecedented?) twist of fate, I have joined the forums because of attending Mittens instead of the other way around. Gasp! Had a great time, finally found out what Creed was on about when he talks about this place so much. ;) I took about 270 photos according to my camera, I promise to share soon but we sorta have to borrow internet at the moment while we wait for connection so I'm not sure when.

We had a lovely time with Francesco and the trip home was exhausting but worth it. Never been so happy to see our own bed. Never did find flavored coffee. Bought Italian coffee from British store instead. MAGIC!

I'm even going to make a game soon. It is all your faults. Look what you have created. JUST LOOK! D:

Ha ha, thanks for an awesome trip and some good memories. Special thanks for including me in the filmings. I had a lot of fun, didn't even realize how much I'd missed my theater geek days.
