It's not discordapp.com that removed it, it's the admins of the Tigris Game Development Discord server that hosted the ags channel who removed it. Just as well. Some reliable long standing AGS member should create a Discord server for AGS. Anyone can just do it for free and then we wouldn't be vulnerable to the whims of the Tigris Game Development admins.

Yeah, Mandle is right. Even if the photograph is in public domain it just means the ownership of the photograph itself has expired. The likeness however is a different matter, and the family of the soldier in the photo could indeed have something to say if it's being used in a commercial product, especially if it somehow is an emotionally sensitive matter because of the war, etc. Because the likeness is copied pretty much 1:1 in its entirety from a famous photograph I really wouldn't put it in a commercial game, just to be on the safe side.. :)

I don't mind tropes at all, after all you can divide all good fiction into one selection of tropes or another and the most riveting entertainment out there follows true and tried concepts, but excel in presentation and delivery. A well done storytelling is a well done storytelling regardless of it being on tvtropes.org or not. Again, most of the time it seems the developers are not working well with the resources they have at hand or are too inexperienced or not skilled yet to deliver.

As for comedy. Wow, that's a difficult one. Different people find so many different things funny and I have probably only laughed a handful of times, like not more than five times, for real playing a game. Sure, I chuckle once in a while at something that's meant to be funny and give the game a genuine smile in recognition, but true comedy in a game? No, that's a rare, rare thing to me, and that's why I never play comedy adventure games anymore. Not just because the humour is lost on me, but also because it's just not my thing in an adventure game. They get too goofy and silly, too forced, and that's not for me at all. Give me drama, thriller, smart dialogue, good atmosphere and character development and I'll squee like a fangirlboy.

I think articy:draft probably does what you need, though it's a bit pricey. Haven't used it in a few years so I'm not up to date on the features today, but you can check it out here:

Chat Mapper might also be an alternative:

All we have are opinions when it comes to personal preference, there's no absolute truths regarding the look of this remastered version :)

Again, it doesn't look outright bad, I think, but it could have been much better. I don't think a remastered version of this game in particular should just involve upressing, it since the result comes out very clinical and a bit soulless somehow.

Again (again), just a personal preference, I'm happy for you guys (and gals) who love it; wish I could be one of you!

I think they somehow managed to turn a great looking game into something that looks like someone's hobby project, which isn't bad in and of itself, but in this case... I can imagine DotT looking great in high resolution vector graphics, but this looks lazy.

I don't want to get stuck anymore. Not for any extended period of time, at least. There was a time when I felt like I had all the time in the world, but today with a family and work, every second feels precious, and whenever I'm stuck in a game I feel as if that time is somehow wasted, and I start to get stressed out about that lost time that I could have used on... not being stuck.

That said, puzzles were never the main attraction for me strangely enough. I always enjoyed the storytelling, the graphics, the dialogues, the settings and atmosphere more, so I think on a personal level I feel as if the games of today are more geared towards David of today :)

Backed! Would have backed at a higher tier, but y'know... money :P But to compensate a bit I did the Twitter and Facebook thing (not that I have many followers, but still!).

Just started in on this.  Definitely one of the best point-n-click's I've played in recent history, certainly the most detailed and high-resolution!  Great work!
The sad thing is one of the main complaints from players I've seen is how 720p is way, way too low to play on their 4k and 1440p screens, and that really makes me sad. I don't even want to call them ignorant gamers, because I don't think they are, not really, it's just sad that such a thing would be such a big problem for some people.

Big congrats on finishing this, Chris, it certainly looks like a homerun on your first try. Impressive as hell!

The Indiegogo campaign is discontinued, it's referring people to the Kickstarter instead:

QuoteAttention. Fundraising for IndieGOGO discontinued. All those who supported the project definitely will get their reward. We have been campaigning on Kickstarter. Support us.

With all the games where you kill people, objecting to a fishing game is just ludicrous.
I don't know about that. Let me first just say you'll be hard pressed to find a game that I find objectionable, you'd have to venture into raping simulators for that, but if I was forced to put it on a scale then I'd say killing innocent fish in a game is worse than killing humans in, say, a Call of Duty game, yes.

Yeah. I didn't even know about this, and now that I do know I just don't care as much as I would have a few years back. If someone is close enough to connect to my WiFi and want to do me, specifically, harm I'd be more concerned about other things than them accessing my wifi...

General Discussion / Re: Fallout 4

QuoteThank the 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating for Mad Max Fury Road for the Fallout 4 greenlight.

They've already worked on Fallout 4 for years, so I'm not sure how much Fury Road had to do with it :cheesy: Fallout 4 was already in development before Skyrim was finished, a small team on it, and when Skyrim was finishing production the rest of that team moved over to Fallout 4.

Quote from: Armageddon on Mon 08/06/2015 10:40:42I don't like the colors they're going with, reminds me too much of STALKER and TF2. And the graphics are exactly the quality of FO3, very disappointing. Was hoping they would drop Gamebryo after Skyrim, but NOPE. Maybe they can at least write some proper player physics and AI movement with IK. And maybe give the weapons some weight.

Fallout 3 didn't even have any dynamic lighting, which Fallout 4 has, so just that is a huge upgrade in graphics. Pretty sure that's not Gamebryo.

Article about Thimbleweed Park. This part jumped out to me in particular:

Quote“Classic adventure games were really about the puzzles,” says writer and designer Ron Gilbert. “We want to get back to that. Puzzles drive everything and it seems that modern adventure games tend to get too lost in story, and puzzles are just something tacked onto that. Also verbs. I loved the verb interface and I do think something was lost when adventure games got rid of them.”

I do, on occasion, enjoy me some clever puzzles in adventure games, but story is definitely what does it for me. Story, interesting characters with solid development, and great dialogue.

Also, he wants verbs. Ron Gilbert is certainly not kidding when he says he wants to make a classic point and click adventure game, which (oddly enough) might be something fresh in today's climate of simplified UI :)

You can't please everyone, and trying to do so will probably water down your game, making it a diluted experience for all. Just make the game you want to make and come to terms with the people who will be put off by the swearing are just going to have to be put off by the swearing :)

(As for option #3, it just doesn't have the same impact as the proper, real words, so then you might as well just go with "darn it". BSG with its "frak", and the Farscape with "frell". Two great shows (Farscape in particular), but those words kept bringing me out of the experience every time they were used.)
