Completed Game Announcements / Re: Primordia
Mon 10/12/2012 00:11:54
I had this game on preorder and was really excited when I got the email with the download link... I think it took me two nights to get the good ending (thanks coffee). Absolutely amazing game, and I would def. buy a sequel if there was one. I think I ran into a couple bugs, but nothing game-breaking. One was the bug Arjon mentioned. The other is, at one point, all the dialogue started skipping forwards really fast so that it was impossible to read. I've run into this same issue with some of the Blackwell games too; not sure if it is a bug in AGS or some special-sauce Wadjet script or what.

Anyway, thanks for making Primordia. Look forward to your next release.

Fun game! It was an interesting story and I liked the atmosphere. I got a little confused at

Spoiler

the part where you put the pound coin in the slot. I thought that I either had to try to get the coin back, or that I'd irretrievably wasted an important inventory item. I tried using the magnet on the slot but the narrator scolded me for trying to put the magnet in the slot. So I restarted the game. Not sure if I'm the only one that silly, but if I'm not you might drop a little hint that it didn't work because it was the wrong kind of coin, not because I missed some other important step. Or let the player get the (useless) coin back somehow, just as a woobie.

There are just the two endings.  :)

I would also suggest using a different payment setup, but for different reasons. I think the WEG one is a little awkward. If you try to donate $x in a different currency, it sets the price to $x USD and shows the converted amount. I'm not American so I had to guess at exchange rates. Also the form makes it seem like Paypal users have to fill in their contact details, then just throws them out when you get to the payment options section. Part of the point of Paypal is that you don't have to do virtual paperwork; if I hadn't already learned the "trick" from the Blackwell games I might've bailed. :P Yeah it's extremely lazy but it's hard to overestimate the power of laziness.

That said I've played a half dozen of them so far and finished a few and they're pretty great so far.  :o "The Rail" is probably my favorite -- my astronomy class discussed how life would have to operate on tidally-locked planets only a few weeks ago, so in addition to being a great game it made my inner nerd whee. But it's pretty close competition.  ;D

Would it be spoilery to ask how many endings there are? I've found two, and I'm wondering whether my 96-point ending is the "full" ending. Probably not, huh?

I like the ending song, it's very pretty.

I don't have time right now, but I can also send you a savegame for the exact point where the game crashed later today.

Yeah, that would be awesome, thanks! I also made the mistake of saving in the purply cliff area so my current savegame is borked.  :P

I got through the BIOS puzzle...

Spoiler
but when I put the "1" in the on/off switch, I was standing on the platform just to the left of the switch, not the one right under it. Now I'm standing in a purply cliff area, and I can talk to Arkady's support program, but I can't walk around. Talking to Arkady doesn't seem to yield anything useful and I don't see any other clickables.

So I think I'm either missing something, or stuck in a 'wall'. Help?
