Don't feel bad; I got stuck at exactly the same place

Thank you!  That's very helpful indeed. Also, it's surprisingly reassuring to know that at least one other person got stuck at the same spot!

I feel a little goofy asking for help when everybody seems to be posting about how quick and simple the game was, but I'm completely stuck. I'm also not stuck on a particular thing because I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing now, so my description of where I'm at is going to be a little long-winded, I'm afraid. However, any hints or tips you can give me would be AWESOME.

Okay, so I've spoken with the witch and been told to find her hair. I've gotten the record from atop the cart. I've swapped records and made the note appear, then invested my cents, lost it, and got a receipt. I've gotten the kite and the feather. My current inventory consists of the two records, the feather, the receipt and the kite. Things I can presently interact with are the hat, the vampire, the box, the door, the witch, the gramophone, optionally the note if I put the record on, the headstone, the crow, the lamp, the cart, and the trapdoor. No interaction with any of them appears to do anything, not does grabbing any of the objects in my inventory and trying to use it on them. Trying to use the feather on the vampire gives a leading response that maybe it's not ticklish on that end, but clicking anywhere else on the vampire produces the same result. I can cast a spell on the hat, and I've probably exhausted close to 60% of the search space trying combinations, but I lost track of where I was and didn't have the heart to start over. And, um... that's about where I'm stuck.
