Ah, yes... I vaguely remember glazing over that section of the manual :undecided:

Thank you, Crimson, and my apologies for asking about something I should have noticed while searching for the answers. I have to admit, I'm a little embarrassed cause I do remember seeing something about this, it just didn't click.

Have a great day!

Hi everyone!

Earlier today I imported an older game of mine from AGS version 3.2.1 in to the current version 3.6.1 (I believe this is the version, I'm away atm).

Now, I'm guessing it has something to do with the new audio system in AGS? I am new to this system, obviously, so what are the steps I can take to diagnose the issue of the audio not working anymore?

The SFX still work, it's just the MIDI files for the background music that aren't playing (or muted somehow).

I've tried changing options in the setup, I've messed with variables in their settings (like changing the volume from -1 to 100 for instance).

Now I've read about the channels and things like that, but honestly it's going over my head just a bit. Is there something that I need to be setting up for background music to be working correctly?

Side note, the music files work when I click on them in the editor so I've ixnayed the idea that it is my computer... but I just don't know anymore.

Also, I have NOT changed any of their names. I left everything as it was after importing.

Thank you all in advance for any help, I greatly appreciate it!

Looks really good! I'm going to download and play momentarily. I'll be back with my response as soon as I can, but I'm looking forward. I like games like this and everyone keeps mentioning the atmosphere, which I'm a big fan of, it sounds really good.

Stu, just don't forget him on the top of your car, drop, step-on or mail/flush by accident and you'll be fine ;)

Congrats, btw. Being a parent is fun. My daughter is 12. Unfortunately she looks like me, but she is quite the little comedian heh

I can't remember the context but the other day I said to one of the kids I work with, "Kids: you try SO HARD to turn them in to YOU, but it eventually just bites you in the ass!"

Some of you may remember me. It's been such a long time since I've been here on the forums... 4 to 5 years, maybe? I don't remember. I released a game a long time ago (Castle of Fire) and a demo adventure game (Matt to the Future). Some of you may even remember big promises of a little adventure called, "The Legend of Leitor's Edge" (one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, as someone once stated haha), that was me.

It's great to see this place is still hopping with many great people, conversations and tons of adventures being released. Does Chris Jones make any appearances now and then?

I just wanted to pop in and say hello and hopefully be an active member as I once was.

I can't say I've got a lot of spare time on my hands, I work a ton, but what I have I'd like to spend some of it here. My wife and I are separated, been so since the beginning of the year, and divorcing eventually, but we are very civil and still remain best friends as we always were. It's a little bitter sweet, I suppose, but it was mutual.
That's about it for anything substantial. I love my job and life in general.

I can't wait to rejoin this community, I can't believe it's been so long.

Best regards,

PS
I may or may not change my forum name. I'm considering it.

This looks really good! I'll purchase it for the Switch ASAP

Can I ask, how were you able to get an AGS made game on to consoles? I've been gone from this forum for quite a while and this is absolutely blowing my mind! I've read this whole thread and nobody has mentioned it.
Thanks! I look forward to this.

I'm still looking forward to this, Andail. I love the atmosphere, which isn't a surprise to me since all of your games have a great atmosphere. Great job and keep it up :)

PS
I want to see more screens!

Guys, I want to thank you so much for your input and suggestions. I love the looks of both Toon Boom and AnimeStudio. I'm definitely going to look in to those programs.

With a cherry on top of COURSE!

Hi guys, long time no see. I've been away for a long time due to moving to another state. But here I am now with the internets weehee!

So as the subject line says, I need some helpful advice to point me in the right direction. I want to do something with my art, whether it be freelance and/or start something completely for myself, like say a comic strip/cartoon show.

Not only have I wanted to do something with illustrating/cartooning my entire life and it's finally time to actually DO something about it, I also NEED to do something about it now - the sooner the better, I just don't know where to start. Money has always been a huge issue, but now it's even worse, but anyway, I won't bore you with backstory.

What I have for ideas so far include creating an ETSY page and selling artwork on there. ETSY seems pretty limitless when it comes to the possibilities of what you can sell, and there's a ton of other people also selling artsy-fartsy stuff and illustrations so that's a great sign. I have also found a site (well actually my wife found it) where I can have an online portfolio. Seems like a pretty good idea for freelancing some artwork.

Now what I REALLY REALLY want to do is create a cartoon show. I already have a bunch of characters (characters I've had for YEARS and an addition of a few new characters), the storyline, tons of ideas/jokes, I can do all the voices myself, I can animate it myself and I can also do the music myself. Of course that's a lot for one guy to do himself, but that's all I am right now. Originally I was planning on doing this all in AGS, only because I know how to use it. It would be simple to do. But now I am wondering.

I have looked for animation programs, I've looked in to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and neither I know how to use. What would be the best program to animate a cartoon? Is there anything you use yourself? I'm looking to do more along the lines of traditional animation, but I'm not 100% opposed to vector... even though in most cases I can't stand it.

Another possibility for work has always been illustrating for children's books, or books in general that call for a cartoony-style. I don't do any serious type work, like say what MARVEL characters look like. But again, I don't know where to start looking for this type of thing.

I can also do backgrounds for cartoony adventure games too, but I guess that would be another post in the help wanted thread.

Sorry for the long post! Any help with giving me some ideas and fingers pointed in the right direction would be most appreciated! I just don't know where to start looking.

Thank you!

Just as you think AGS games are running out of ideas... then something like THIS happens. I love it. Keep up the good work!

You took the words right out of my mouth. It must of been while you were kissing me. Oh wait...

Anyway, yeah, I was thinking the same thing pretty much. This is a nice fresh idea for a game. I will download the demo now. I also love the color palette!

Hey, Duals, you handsome guy, you. Thank you very much, that is what did the trick! THANKS!

Wow this looks and sounds amazing! I love that you made this game for your kids :)

Downloading now and will play ASAP. I'm sure my daughter will like this one :)

Hello! I'm very sorry, I DO know that there hasn't been any posts in this thread for a very long time :-[

This is a very cool module. I have a blocking animation that stops the water from moving when it is called. Is there a way for this module to ignore blocking commands?

I just want to chime in and say how that every time I see the subject line of this thread I always think that, "AGS World Cup", is some new AGS sports game (like that football game someone was working on years ago) that we all play together through the online plug-in or something. Every time the answer is still the same. Nope :-[
