Man, that's cooler than ice tea

Wow.  That's a great complement.  Any criticisms?  Are there any unnecessary panels?  Are there "missing" panels that you wish were there?

Is there a possible game in here?

It's kind of a strange quantum webcomic thingy.  33 panels, 6 threads, a robot, a monkey, a monster, a plague, a war and a volcano.

Please let me know what you think.  Also, is there a game in here?  Somewhere?

OHH SNAP!  Seriously that's really lame claiming credit for those screens if you didn't draw them.

The link no longer works

Try cutting and pasting the URL into your browser bar.  THe link isn't working for me either, but the file is there.

If you really want to hear it and the link won't work I can email it to you.

Jason- thanks.  I'm a big Xzibit fan.  Didn't even think of the comparison.

One more request for feedback, then I'll let it die.

I think there's a divide over how much "story" you need in your games.  Sierra games were more "game"y while LA's were more "story"y.  If that makes sense.  Sierra did try to do more storytelling later on, but they weren't as successful as LA in my opinion.  I don't think either is "better".  I've played both companies games extensively.  They're both well made and thoght out.  Just had different design goals.  If anyone has a preference, it's really a matter of taste.  They're both fruit, but one's apples, one's oranges.

It's so awesome I have quoted you in my signature file.  It's an interesting setting, and I would like to see it play out.

I'd really like some feedback on this.  If anyone is so inclined.  It sounds good to me, but I'm deaf in one ear. :)

Very nice work.  I like the drawing style.  It's actually quite similar to mine.  We probably share a few influences.  I look forward to seeing more games.

I agree that dropping in nearly anything for background music would have made it even better.  Did you happen to use the Open Source Disc World interface, or did you use your own?  Either way, nice implementation.

Something also to keep in mind about newer games becoming easier, when you spend millions on artwork and development, you want to make sure customers get to see where all that money went.  Back in the lower budget days, I don't think that was so much a concern.

Try it now.  I re-incoded it so it's smaller.  And I tested it.  Should work.

This is a zip of an ogg file.  It's made from a Mozart sample.  I have no musical background whatsoever, so be gentle.

NOTE: It's been pointed out that the link might not be working right.  If you copy and paste the URL into your browser's bar, you should be able to get the file.

These are really REALLY good (often professionally done by composers) midi arrangements of like 25,000 classical tunes sorted by composer's name.  Also have WMA streams as well.  This is a cut above most of what you'd find looking for free midis.  I should have specified that in the initial post.

Wow.  This was moved twice with no reply.  At least I know the mods read it.

General Discussion / A good place for music

This isn't a question, but more of a tip.  Classical composers write better music than you, and they didn't copyright their work.

http://www.classicalarchives.com

Has TONS of MIDIs of Classical pieces.  They let you download up to 5 a day for free, and if you know how to clear out your cookies, you can pretty much leech as much as you want.

I've found good stuff here.  For my game, I'm taking samples from the midis and looping them with royalty free phat beats I also found online, but I imagine that the straight classical pieces will work well with a lot of games.

Just wanted to share.  :)

I definitely like the new one more.  It's less anime-influenced (hair, eyes, mouth).  Nothing against anime, per se, but I much prefer when people establish their own style.  What resolution are you using?

Final game will be 640 by 480.  I'd prefer to do 800x600, but I'm told there are performance issues.

Hm, I thought the 13 guy looked better before, just my opinion.  I do like it though, and overall I'd say you have the nicest graphics of any upcoming game I know of.  They're just cool looking, it's hard to say why.

THanks.  Can you tell me what you liked more about the character before?

I made a comparison for your reference.

It's a positive article in that it really plays up that adventure games aren't dead, and how the project was a success and all that.  Talked a bit about the community and all.

My guess is that the writer of the article for whatever reason left out AGS.  Tierra links to it from their site after all.  I'm sure they'd have mentioned it, and if not, all the people who visit Tierra to follow up on the article will learn about AGS that way.

Probably going to be an influx of users as the article hits its peak circulation.

Also, in that magazine is an advertisement I made.  Just in cas you were wondering.

Thanks!  The G is supposed to be beveled, like raised off his chest.  It's not meant to contour, but it does sit a little odd.  He is the least refined of the characters at the moment.   First draft of his costume as well, so it may change.

I read the article.  It's a good article.  Didn't mention AGS a single time.  You'd swear they coded it from scratch.  Not sure whether that was the AGDs or CGMs fault though.
