You don't have the right not to be offended.
This is the most sensible post in the thread.

Sexuality is individual to each person, Gay or Straight is a very limited way to view things. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, even to be offended by other's behaviour. I don't mind if you are offended, that doesn't mean the thing you are offended by shouldn't have happened. It's all part of the rich tapestry.

I can guarantee there will be a design team who would think VERY differently Babar!

I don't understand why people moan when websites change design, at least they're trying to stay relevant and fresh.

Or not?

Thank god we have a few more nice animations films. Fuck those Chinese bastards.

I think you're missing the point of this thread. The thread you are looking for is "Steve Jobs - Who even cares because volcanos still happen what a dick"

I get that you are pointing out that noone is MORE worthy of remembering that anyone else, but the flipside of that coin is that nobody is less worthy either. It would be impractical to have a thread for every child who dies in poverty, but not for one man who made quite a big difference to the world you are in. Show some respect, preferably from off your high horse.

EDIT: Reactionary vitriol aside, this thread isn't the right place to air views on the shortcomings on the recently deceased, nor does it seem to be the right place to criticise the sadness of others.

I read about his death on a laptop he invented, text my partner on a phone he invented. I'm probably maccier than many on here, but it's undeniable that the world got less good yesterday.

Sad news. My Dad is 56. Jobs left behind a family and an incredible legacy. It was no age.

I find this "Greedo shooting first" business very confusing.

If Greedo shoots first, Han Solo is defending himself

If Han Solo Shoots first, he's an arsehole who kills people to get what he wants.

Which one is the good one?

I know we've had a "What was the first Adventure Game you played" thread, and I apologise if I'm re-treading old ground. My question, is "Why?"

Adventure games for alot of their lifetime have been an anomaly, certainly not something that was fretted over in the classroom over who's played/seen/collected what. So I wonder how you found adventure games? What led you to love this genre through thick and thin?

I remember being small, maybe 6 or 7 and being at my grandpa's house, and he was playing Myst. My sister and I would sit and watch, unable to help at first and eventually chipping in ideas on how various puzzles could be solved, where we'd seen things before etc. Soon Grandpa set us up on our own adventure, leaving us to solve the puzzles, to be called on when we got stuck. (We weren't old enough to access the internet for walkthroughs!) Another early game we played was Toonstruck, actually being lent this one to play at home. Soon we were playing Fate of Atlantis together and trying out all of the three paths to get through, exhausting all avenues to get every last bit of brilliant fun out of the game. I don't remember the order we played, but we went through all the Lucas classics, until I bought MI4 on my own and was disappointed.

My Grandpa, my sister and I had a lot of fun with adventure games and they are important memories to me. I know for some people they are just games and that's great too, but the interactivity and difficulty of this genre brought us together in a way any other couldn't.

Does anybody else have stories like this? How you found the games? Do they mean more than just games?

(Also, does anyone else remember a game called RAMA, set on board a spaceship i think, never completed it!)

Creed is at Mittens, so will probably be out of touch until then. If you are desperate for a new competition then I guess the runner up should start it...but Creed will be sad.

What makes this hard is differentiating between people with an actual grievance and people who want to take whatever they can grab from JD Sports because "it's free ennit".

There are many people in this country who feel disenfranchised by the cuts the government have been forced to make during recent times, and for some, this is the only way they feel they can make themselves heard. Shooting rubber bullets and bean bags might stop the violence but it won't cure the problem that allows it to happen. Sure, "thugs" have taken hold of this grievance as an excuse, but it doesn't stop there being a grievance to address. Until we can establish proper communications across the strata of society end everyone can feel like they are being represented, this will not go away.

The violence should stop. It should not be stopped with tear gas.

Arjon, If this is to be an actual game, I suggest patience otherwise the thread will get confused with multiple games running at once. Don't get over-excited by the new "Who is the obscurist" side to the fun.

General Discussion / Phone Hacking

After many months of deliberation, of the past weeks several revelations in the News media have forced the News Corp owned newspaper, The News of the World, to stop publishing.

This is due to the dshonest, cruel and thoughtless actions of journalists and private detectives in the employ of the newspaper. They hacked into the phones of murder and kidnap victims, of soldiers killed in action and the victims of the 7/7 bombins in london. Although these are simply allegations, I can, from personal experience, say with some confidence that the News of the World has no qualms about lying, cheating and planting evidence to get a headline. These revelations did not come as a surprise to me.

For more details on the story, go here http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/phone-hacking

I was wondering how this story resonates around the world, News Corp are an International organisation owning, amongst MANY others, the fox network in the USA.

These recent revelations may well stand in the way of News Corp's aims to purchase the remainder of shares in Sky Television, a move I believe would be detrimental to the state of broadcasting in the UK.

Many people tend to put a blanket over journalists of being untrustworthy, while I do not think this is true, I have little faith in News Corp to uphold any kind of journalistic standards.

Does a story like this in the UK affect how you consider News Corp outlets where you live? If you are in the UK do you think it affects their other publication such as The Times?

Seconded to Hijack this, after suffering malware problems on my old laptop it was the only thing that would solve the problem.

I'm not sure why there is this mood taking over the forums, everyone is sad that the community is dying or that people can't be bothered or it's not what it used to be. Feeling sorry for oneself seems a touch self indulgent on a forum like this, people will do what they want to do, nothing more nothing less. At the moment we have a surge of new games and interest in moving the community onto bigger and better things, mourning things that have fallen by the wayside doesn't really make sense.

Sure, if you are passionate about a section of the site that isn't flourishing, get involved and get others excited. If you want to revive something, do it. Moaning that nothing is happening is bizarre to me.

I guess in summation, there's no point being negative, this is a fun forum and if something has fallen out of favour or into disrepair, i'd much rather be geed up into action than guilted into it!
