...just got done downloading this from GOG last night!  My wife and I watched the intro and are psyched to get into some gameplay tonight!

Here's my pass at it.  I didn't get to test it on a whole lot of speakers so I apologize if the high end is too painful on certain ones.

The tune is named after a river I grew up by called the Stillwater River.  It was actually nice and pretty most of the time but could be awful spooky and downright chilling if you caught it at just the right time.

Congrats Erenan!  I also liked being able to follow along with the score.  The piece develops nicely.

Here's my entry.  Its a giant squid.  The organ, bass and drums are (supposed to be) the ominous body.  When the guitar hits the 32nd notes, the tentacles are out and no holds are barred!

Hey everybody!

So correct me if I'm wrong, but we had three entries.  All three were epic indeed!

Mods wrote a killer track with some parts on boil with some nice simmering sections contrast.  I especially love the transitions.  My favorite as far as personal taste is definitely Doc_Savage's cut.  Its a slow build, has the most melody, and the brass at the end is especially intense!  However, Sunny Penguin has to be the winner based on the criteria.  The other two are certainly more melodic but, for my money, Never Negotiate is simply more epic.  Even though I was joking about it being a criteria, it does coincidentally also happen to be the loudest (even after the edit).  So June is all you, Mr. Penguin!

These are some ferocious tunes!

Erenan - yes

Giraffadon - decibels (kind of a joke but not really)

Mods - That is an awesome cut!  You have throw the gauntlet!  I hear the influence.  Still, its totally original, but more importantly, EPIC!

Eric, that is an awesome tune!  ...very melancholy and clearly caught the ocean vibe too.

Ok...so waltzes didn't work out, so lets get as far from waltzes as possible!

Write a song that's EPIC!!!!

It doesn't matter what style it is as long as it sounds like something one would listen to as the world ends...or is saved...or something like that.  Ideally, the bulk of your title will be exclamation marks with the occasionally accidental number one.  All files submitted with a "quality" less than 180dB will not be considered.   Write something MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Due date: May 30

I'm sorry guys.  I really thought that would be a fun one.  So what happens now?

Hey everybody,

This is new for me so please let me know if I'm setting this up wrong.  I was really impressed with Emont's idea last month to come up with a steampunk western tune.  It reminded me of an idea I've wanted to do for a while: steampunk Vienna waltz.  In order to keep things open, I'd like to make this month's competition waltz's generically.  So if you want to take a stab at fusing actual Victorian era waltzes with the steam punk style or do a new take on the jazz waltz or ...well anything waltzy but a little different, give it a shot.

Lets make the deadline April 26th.

Happy writing!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the nice comments.  I have to agree that the other two entries were both unique and awesome.  I'll get to thinking about the next theme and get it posted ASAP.

Thanks!

Emont, that's awesome!  The whole thing is totally ominous.  I really love that scary chromatic slide at 1:18!

Here's my entry.  Its pretty sloppy right now but there are some ideas in there I'm proud to present.

Hello,

I would like to offer my services as composer.  I grew up with the classics and my favorites to this day are the Quest For Glory Series, the Monkey Island Series, and all of the others with a strong plot and challenging but not impossible puzzles.  I am absolutely shocked at the high level of games that some of you are making these days though.  I had no idea until recently that the genre was alive and well.  As my wife and I have started to play these new games, I've really developed a desire to get in on the action.

While music is my vocation and how I support my family, composing for games is a new venue for me.  All that to say, I'd love to work for cheap or maybe free, depending on the game.  I would also appreciate any feedback or critique of the reels I'm posting.

Here is a diverse sample of my composing.

This is all stuff I wrote after watching Twin Peaks.  Its all in the previous reel but shows more how I can make material that could all be used in the same game.  If anyone out there is planning on doing a Telltale style continuation of Twin Peaks, I'm definitely your man!

Here is some weird elecro-jazz I make in the off chance your game fits this bizarre niche.

Once again, critique is also very welcome.  Thanks for any time you may invest in considering hiring me to make some music for your project!
