@ heltonjon and Crimson Wizard: thanks for the info!

@heltonjon

Actually, I'd like to download them all. Just can't with their site being down. But thanks for the link!

Has grundislav games recently gone offline? When redirected to it, I get an "Unable to connect" message so I can't download any of the games. And all the website checkers show www.grundislavgames.com is down. I hope all is well with Fransisco, et al!

Doh! I never tried to have Moss

just walk into the elevator shaft...I thought it was a closed door in front of him.

Niiiice. Thanks again!

...sipping wine....hic....

This episode seems to be kicking my butt, Nicky! I am now to the point where both Moss and Head are at the non-functioning elevator (on their respective levels),
Spoiler
and Hand has just touched a button that apparently made power go across a broken conduit. I've tried having Moss turn on and off the fuse near the organism, and Hand doing the same with the power (?) button, and checking to see if Head or Moss can do anything more. So far I haven't found anything else they can do, and Hand can't get back down the elevator shaft to try other things. Oh, and Moss needs a key card (which I have no idea where it is) for a panel near all the pretty blinking lights.

What is a next step?

Thanks! It turns out that this works better if the game speed is turned down to at least the default setting. I had set it to be much faster because the default walking speed is too slow for my taste. I thought I was on the right track, but thanks again for the confirmation!

I must be as dumb as Commander Moss...
Spoiler
I'm trying to get the USB cable for Head, but I can't even figure out how to get rid of the maintenance droid! I tried pushing the laser button several times, but he comes back before I can grab the cable.

Help?

I made it through the first two games (which were a blast, by the way) without help...maybe the wine is finally kicking in?

Thanks for the tips on how to beat the relief puzzle, Shaun. I was finally able to get past it, but I found the only way I could do it was to
Spoiler
start at the middle hand, then go down touching the two places below it, and then clockwise around the relief. No matter how many times I tried going any other way, and regardless of how quickly I touched the remaining locations, the puzzle reset before I could complete it.
[close]
And I also found if I had the game set too slow, I couldn't complete it in time either...so like you said, setting the game at default speed was the key. On to the finish!

I'm afraid the relief puzzle has beaten me, try as I might I can't hit the hotspots in time. I can only hear the first click and nothing else despite trying Jojo's suggestion. I know it's me but I don't like arcade games, ( how sad I hear you cry ) and for me this has ruined a great game that I was thoroughly enjoying.

I'm with you, Tinytim! Same here...

Tinytim:
Spoiler

The only order is that you have to hit the hand in the centre first, then all the other points can be in any order. I think the timer was set at 10seconds for default speed
[close]
I also have the speed set all the way down, and am at a loss how to get past this.
Spoiler
Jobos said the hot spots have a click, but no matter where or what I hit after the center hand, nothing else "clicks". Why is there no feedback that you've hit a correct spot?
[close]
Spoiler
Do all the spots have to be touched while the clock is showing? If so, even at the slowest speed the clock (timer?) disappears after only about 3-5 seconds. Or does the timer keep going if you keep touching different triggers?

I seem to be overwriting my saved games without meaning to. For whatever reason, I can't save more than six times, and no matter which saved game I hi-light and backspace the name of so I can create a new saved game, one of the two last ones I saved gets over-written. It seems earlier I had eight slots, now just six. Have I forgotten how to save properly? What am I doing wrong?

By the way, this is really a fun, funky game! It took a bit to get used to the graphic "style", but it's really growing on me, and the dialog is hilarious! Good job!

Okay, I feel reeeeeeally dumb! I just realized what the problem is. After I downloaded the game, I unzipped all the game files to a folder on my desktop. To make things easy on myself, I then dragged the Mudlarks.exe file to my desktop, leaving the VOX file in the original folder. Therefor, I had no music playing as I tried to enter the pub, which because of the way the game is coded, it crashed when it couldn't find the audio coding.

Moral of the story: Leave all game files in the same folder!

Sorry. You may now call off the hounds.

Hi Shaun,

I figured out how to add them to the game folder.....see my edit above. I will send you my saved game just prior to entering the pub. If you come up with anything, please reply to that email.

Cheers!  Mike

My only theory is perhaps if you tried to load a saved game from a different version?
The only version of the game I ever installed is 1.3, so that can't be the issue. Is there some way for me to send you my saved game file of just before Winston tries to enter the pub to see if it happens to you? If it doesn't, that would point to a conflict with a driver or something on my system....

I went ahead and loaded both of the saved game files you provided into my game folder, and with 009 the same thing happened....it crashed with the same error message. With 010, I was able to interact inside the pub, but if I went back out and tried to re-enter, it crashed again. Weird.

Hi, I'd like to include a screen shot of an error message I'm getting in this game, but I can't seem to get the "Insert Image" function to work for me. It is a jpg file on my desktop, and it's about 70kb. I tried entering the file path in the "Insert Image" dialog box, but when I go to preview it, the image doesn't show up. Is this function not working, or am I doing something wrong?

Secondly, I probably need to download the latest version as I'm playing v1.0.0.1, but will I be able to use my v1.0 saved games in the latest version, or will I have to start over?

Turns out I am playing v1.3. The bug I've run into is early in the game...after the cop leaves the river front, Winston heads for the pub looking for his buddy. Every time I try to have him enter the pub, the game crashes and I get the error I mentioned above. Since I can't seem to find a way to upload the image of the error, here is what it says:

An Error has occurred. Please contact the game author....(blah blah blah)....then it goes on with (ACI version 3.21.1115) in "room22.asc", line 43....then Error: Error running function 'hHotspot2_WalkOn':....then Error: Null pointer referenced

Is there a way to avoid this crash?

So I am now playing as a Sorceress after my first run-through as a Warrior. I have just
Spoiler
successfully retrieved my stolen stuff from the thieves lodge
[close]
and have told Sigurd that I know where it is. He wants proof, which I don't have. As a Warrior, I never did give him evidence, but as a Sorceress,
Spoiler
Kraka remains on my map in Munarvagir (which she didn't on the Warrior run-through) even tough I have my stuff back, leading me to believe I'm not done dealing with her in the thieves lodge yet.
[close]
I've tried everything I could think of there to get/provide proof to Sigurd, but it ain't happening. What am I missing here, if anything? Is there points given for providing the evidence Sigurd seems to need?

You can't use the horse in Ch4.

Do you have something which can protect you?

I'm not sure what you mean....protect me. I've got lot's of stuff....gloves, chain mail, bracers, weapons, healing potions....

And another thing, I've tried everything I can think of to
Spoiler
try to get through the door to Egther's Throne Room
[close]
but nothing in my inventory seems to help. Maybe I haven't done something prior to Chapter 4 that will provide me with whatever it is I need to move forward?

EDIT: I figured out how to continue down the corridor
Spoiler
using my shield.

Off to bigger and better things!

The horse is the reward for chest. Try using the horse.

I'm playing as a Warrior. I was
Spoiler
stuck in an ice corridor in Egther's Keep in chapter 4 (after getting out of the pit),
[close]
so I reloaded a save slot to just before I got the second eye and decided to do more questing. Now that I have done so, I now have the
Spoiler
horse figurine
[close]
that I didn't have before, among other things. I've still got other quests I can work on before obtaining the second eye (again), but I'm curious:
Spoiler
is the icy corridor a good place to use the horse figurine?
[close]
or do I need to "use it" somewhere else? And if that isn't the solution, how do I continue
Spoiler
through the icy corridor? I just keep getting the statement "a reflection shouldn't move like that" or some such rot.

I'm playing as a warrior. My animal ken is 28.

See, I don't really get that. I always take every opportunity to raise my character stats (never go to bed with spare stamina or mana!), so at this point in the game, my Animal Ken was in the nineties. (You can raise it simply by clicking on any on-screen animal: any time you come across an animal, you should just click on it like twenty times.)

I totally agree about raising the Animal Ken, but for what ever reason, it seems to be stuck or just going up really slowly. I see a dog, moose, bird, Kraka (she counts as an animal, right?), I pet or talk to it, as much as possible, yet the Ken doesn't increase. It did go up by about six when I first tried interacting with the cat (once I found it), but that was it. Guess I'll try harder.

And thanks for the food idea.....sometimes the most obvious things are difficult to see....

Found the cat.

I'm playing as a warrior. My animal ken is 28.

Okay, I've read everything I could find in this forum regarding the cat's footfall.
Spoiler
I've found the cat near the gazebo but cant get near it. I have the deciphered note and the ink. I've tried to lure the cat out of the tree, but it ignores me. I tried feeding it; it doesn't like what I'm trying to give it. Does it want a particular type of food? What is the correct method for "collecting" the footfall?

Please spell it out for me...I've been banging my head for two solid days on this puzzle, and I'm afraid I'm gonna need a lobotomy.
