The bottom of table surface should be slightly lit.
Also I think the table could use more detail. Round legs would be more convincing as well as some form of lateral stiffening i.e. horizontal connections between the legs in the top or perhaps a cross at the bottom.
I also agree with the zoomy bit.

Otherwise a great animation!

Realize that because the horizon of the sea is relatively higher, your helicopter is currently flying at a downward angle and at some point will crash leaving it's crew to a watery death, if they don't pull op. This ofcourse might be part of your plot outline.

Excellent screenshots! They have a lot of atmosphere and they're very pleasing to look at. Did you draw, scan and then color them?

Keep it up!

Taken from some Nasa site:

"Once considered one of the blander-looking planets, Uranus has been revealed as a dynamic world with some of the brightest clouds in the outer solar system and 11 rings. Uranus gets its blue-green color from methane gas above the deeper cloud layers (methane absorbs red light and reflects blue light).

Uranus was discovered in 1781 by astronomer William Herschel, who at first believed it to be a comet. This seventh planet from the Sun is so distant that it takes 84 years to complete an orbit.

Uranus is classified as a "gas giant" planet because it has no solid surface. The atmosphere of Uranus is hydrogen and helium, with a small amount of methane and traces of water and ammonia. The bulk (80 percent or more) of the mass of Uranus is contained in an extended liquid core consisting primarily of "icy" materials (water, methane, and ammonia), with higher-density material at depth."

Hey guys, I designed this logo for some people, but for their website I'd like to animate it. It needs to talk, but I have no experience in creating a decent talking animation, especially a chicken.

This is it.

Any ideas? I'm mean about how the beak should look, how many frames I need to animate, stuff like that. If someone feels like drawing some rough sketches that'd be a great help!

After reading this, take a look at Synthetique's topics, because I hate to steal his thunder with this thing.  ;)

I tried some shading for you. First off, daylight is very diffuse light, therefor shadows won't be very dark and won't have very well defined edges. Just like in real life.

I drew lines from the corners of the windows to the objects on the opposite sides (in a seperate layer). I then filled the shadows in with black in new layers. I then lowered the transparancy of said layers to values ranging from 15-45%. I made a second version with more shadows and overall lower transparancy values. Judge for yourself which is better.
I blurred the edges of the shadows to give it more realism.

I have to add that some of the shadows drawn aren't entirely correct now that I've taken a closer look at my own work, but at least you know one possible way to go at it yourself.

A final nice touch would be to add direct light from the window on the carpet. A light coloured rectangle and beams of light. I wasn't able to produce this within reasonable time. Maybe you or someone else could have a stab at it.

It's chaos, but there's some fuzzy logic in it!

Something about he shoulders on the front view disturb me.. I think they should be more broad and squareto fit in with the rest..

Or maybe I'm completely wrong!

I agree. The shoulders need work, the 'white' pixels should form a more horizontal line i.e. broad shoulders.

Did any of you do the old trick of drilling an extra hole in the 720kB disks to make it 1,44 MB?
EDIT: Where are my manners... I used to call it "the A drive". Now I don't call it at all.

I did that. I bought DD (double density) disks by the hundreds. Then I drilled them through stacks of 10 until I had enough HD (high density) disks to take over the world. Nowadays everybody seems too have that many, they don't cost as much.

1. The lamppost is much to big or thick.
2. The front legs of the bench should be equally high.
3. I'd straighten to bottom edge of the fence in the back.

As for colouring, maybe you should watch movies set in the same period with similar storylines. Any Sherlock Holmes movie, 'From Hell' or 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'.

But seriously...

I like F.A.T.E. a lot. One thing though, emendation (had to look it up) is altering with the intent of improvement. This would go against the idea of an agency founded to preserve history as it is (that was the idea, right?). In that case just find another E-word. Fate has a nice relevance to the story and sounds pretty good too!

Federal Agency for Time E.....?

I like Ozwalled's 'Timeless"

Thought of:
"A Time Odyssey" (keeping in spirit with your avatar)
"Time And Again"
"Alternatives"
"Cause And Effect"

And:
Temporal Law Enforcement Agency (TLEA)

Wow, that C&C clone Chris made looks pretty cool.

As for a name for the game, how about:

"Future's End" (Voyager episode name)
"Out Of Time" (also new Denzel movie)
"Once Upon A Time" (classic reference)
"Status Quo" (as in keeping things in the same condition)
"Timeline"
"Intervention"

And for the agency a combination of 2 or more of the following words:

1st word:
International
National
United Nations
Federal
Central

2nd word:
Temporal
Time
Timeline
Historical

3rd word:
Corrections
Intervention
Security
Policing
Protection
Integrity
Preservation

4th word:
Facility
Agency
Bureau
Police
Center
Corporation (like OCP from Robocop)

Examples:
United Nations Agency for Timeline Intervention (UNATI)
Temporal Corrections Center (TCC)
Intl. Facility for Historical Integrity (IFHI)

Yeah, it's pretty bad here in Holland. I'm in the Hague, close to sea, and I hear the wind blowing hard against the windows. Thank God for masonry and central heating.

Well, I'm just looking for a short game, something I can actually finish. It shouldn't be too elaborate. Also, my forte is backgrounds, so a lot of characters would slow progress down more than a slightly larger number of rooms. But I really don't want to rule anything out, I'd be glad with anything. Puzzles are ofcourse essential, so no restrictions there. I'm no coding genious, so complicated timed puzzles and such might take me more time, but hey, I need to learn stuff like that.

The setting too can be anything. I'd prefer something contemporary over sci-fi, fantasy, historic, etc. but again, I'm not ruling anything out.

As for my art: I made these once, and they pretty much sum up what I like to make best: http://karolina.ricardis.tudelft.nl/~dizkoplaja/Louvre.jpg and http://karolina.ricardis.tudelft.nl/~dizkoplaja/Oele_voor.jpg.

As for the "I'm stuck in a room" story as you call it, Malcolm. That's just fine, except I can't possibly come up with a brilliant backstory like "6 day assassin" or character like "Little Johnny Evil" which both give that concept a great twist. And that's exactly what I was looking for.
Since I'm asking for rejected short concepts, I hope I don't end up with 'scripts' for Snail Quest IV through MDXVII.

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a short story you might have written for an approx. 2-4 room adventure game, that you had rejected for some reason. I'd like to make a short game, but I'm really not feeling like thinking up an original concept/storyline. I'm lazy when it comes to storywriting, so sue me....

If you still believe your dust-collecting story has potential but have no intention of making a game with it, post them here, or rather send them to rejectstories@hotmail.com.

Ofcourse you'll receive credit for writing.

I finally understand who you guys meant with the guy from Predator! At least I think....

This is the original I used:

Were you guys referring to Bill Duke (shown here on the right)?

Quote from: Malcom X.L. on Mon 08/03/2004 15:35:59HAHAHA, you're saying that you only copy bad games and buy good games. HAHAHA
I know you copy the good games and don't even bother to copy bad games.
Say that I'm wrong and that you dont copy games if they're good.
Come on, lie to me.

That's what I do. I bought Half-Life, Monkey Island 3, Grim Fandango, Outcast and Medal of Honour. Those were games that were really good, and that's exactly why I bought them. The brilliant people responsible fot those need to be paid... a lot.

I do the same with music. I buy old jazz albums, classical music, the newest Counting Crows, St. Germain or Morcheeba album to name a few. Crap like Britney Spears or 50 Cents is good enough to listen a couple of times, but I don't think it's worth the money. That's why I download it and delete it after a week or two.

After miraculously winning an Acadamy Award, unknown actor Sean Penn finally makes a breakthrough in Hollywood, after being cast as Guybrush Threepwood in the blockbuster hit: 'Monkey Island: The Curse of the Diamond Ring'

Thanks for the advice, Steve. I should have added more l33tsp34k, but I already sent it.

Anyhoo,

Gamespot is running a poll on the cancellation of Sam n Max.
It asks: "Are you sad Sam n Max have been cancelled?"

Half replied 'Yes', the other "Sam & Who?". Most surprising to me is, that nobody (well relatively speaking) answered "No". This would mean that, if you even know about the project, you're disappointed it isn't gonna be released.
