General Discussion / Re: Seattle suggestions?
Wed 01/10/2008 09:59:55
- Take a ferry across Puget sound to see Seattle´s magnificent skyline.
- Go to Pike Place Market to see flying fish.
- Take a car and drive all the way to Kirkland. Just walk along the lake. There is a couple of nice restaurants around Lake St./Lake Wahington Blvd.
- Ride the monorail.
- Go to Chittenden Locks and see the Fish Ladder that allows salmon to pass between salt water of the ocean and fresh water of lakes.
- Go to Beacon Hill viewpoint or Kerry Park to see the city panorama. Preferrably in the evening.
- Grab a coffe at Starbucks:)

Hi, it has been a long time since my last post on AGS Forum . So the forums are not what they used to be? How come?

You know what is strange? I was a frequent visitor (more lurker rather than heavy poster) over here a few years back. It was kind of an escape from reality for me. And then something changed. What? Ummm.... I started to work in a game company. Not PC but mobile phones one. And from that point games were no longer a pastime but a regular job. I still loved games (and I still do) but once you have gaming as a job you somehow don't feel all that tempted to spend much of your free time reading about.. games. This is maybe an offtopic rant but worth two cents anyway.

I could't  remember Azerbaijan (always thought it was in Asia already..) and Liechtenstein escaped due to spelling. Not bad.

The USA was tougher - 39/50.

I worked pretty close to where the movie was  being shot in Prague and I must say it was quite annoyng as I was twice late at pub because of roadblocks. So where was I... Oh, yes, the flick should better be good considering the abovementioned fact! Incidentaly I have two free cinema tickets so the question is: James Bond or Borat? Any suggestions? :-)

General Discussion / Re: World Cup 2006

Yay, cool World Cup so far.

I was quite surprised that the Americans were absolutely no match for our team. Rosicky showed a real world class and Nedvet seems to be back as we know him.

On the other hand, loss of Koller could have devastating impact on our performance, considering that other two main strikers are injured as well (Smicer and Baros), as it is now, our attack is in ruins.

As for other matches, Argentina impressed me, so has also Socerroo's comeback. Italy looks very strong.

French disappointed me a lot and Brazilians just lack their flair so far. Very good performance from Croatia though, they deserved an equaliser.

Sweeden vs TaT was a shocker, who could have guessed. I saw TaT on my very eyes playing a friendly against Czech republic last saturday and they looked totally hopeless, loosing 3:0 after 40 mins.

I am really looking forward to Germany vs Poland today as Poles just have to steal at least a point, but the most interesting match of the preliminary stage for me shall be ARG vs NED. Followed by CZE vs ITA and ENG vs SWE.

Jo jo, kurva mac. Ale Polaci si to prohrali sami. :-) Well, performance of the Polish team was a great dissapointment, especially after they have dominated the game in the first 20 minutes.

I would appreciate if someone over here could translate content of this page for me. I think it's Thai language but I haven't found any free Thai to English online translator, thus I'm stuck...  :-[

Hi,

It's been quite a long time since I posted anything so here goes one little piece. It's a splash screen for a mobile game.

It's not finished yet thus the text as it is now is quite rough, the same goes for cloak.

Anyway, what do you think about it?

I just thought I'd share this neat clip as it blew me away. The ending in particular.

Soud on is a must!

This is not the biggest file ever downloaded but regarding all the circumstances I suppose it is a remarkable feat:

Once I downloaded 278 Megs of zipped movies for my cellphone directly over the air to phone through GPRS. No computer involved, the speed being roughly of the speed of 56kb modem.

My log now says: Data received: 1,15 GB
                            Data sent: 147,59 MB

Not bad for a pocket device  :)

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Re: pixel art
Thu 06/10/2005 15:09:15
I was just about to write what Helm said. Limited colours. Once you are serious with pixel pushing you will find that 256 colours is more than enough. àt might seem that high colour count doesn't matter at all nowadays but for example doing gfx for a mobile java game means you have to fit all the graphics and animations into about 50 kB. Now there every colour saved counts.

Even though I am doing graphics commercially,  I am still guilty of not tuning my palettes properly and sometimes I resort to techniques that are not considered "right" by pixel purists. Yes, I mostly use PSP 7 and I consider it a great tool even for pixelart.

But I highly recommend trying Grafx2. It does just about everything a pixel artist needs and it is fairly similar to legendary Deluxe Paint from old Amiga ages. And it is FREE!

You may get it for example here:

Hm, maybe it would be better not to give any meaning to the title. But there are some good ideas in this thread.

Anyway, your feedback is valuable for me so thank you and keep it coming.

If it will be possible I will mention all of you in game's credits :)

Do they, eh ;)?

In fact tweaked bits of graphics originally from MIA have been an excellent source of visuals for some of my games.Ã,  :)

Well, I suppose you are right but you never know if something obvious isn't just around the corner :)

If not then it's not a big deal. YakSpit's idea isn't bad, it could work this way but people, keep 'em coming, the more the better ;)

Hey, I was a bit MIA too.

The fact is that I am working on commercial mobile projects now and it just eats all my free time. I just can't afford to spend much time doing freeware anymore. Which is a pitty.

I think that it is a good idea to release M.I.A. as it is now. It's short yet funny and playable. It would be a shame to shelve it completely when so much is already done.

I was even thinking about making M.I.A. as a mobile game. It is certainly possible to do it, just yesterday I played Cannon Fodder on my Nokia and it looks and plays good. We'll see :)

BTW: good luck with your cab licence study and PM me if anything ;)

General Discussion / S*T*O*R*M

Hi everybody,

here I am with a little request. I am working on a mobile shoot 'em up which is going to be completed soon. The problem is we didn't have any good sounding name, only working title which can't be used for variety of reasons. But finally we've come up with simple name: S*T*O*R*M. It sounds OK for a shmup and it looks like an acronym of some sort.

Now, here goes my problem: I am not able to come up with any decent meaning for the acronym :)

Any suggestions? As you can see it's pure shmup set in three worlds (snow, jungle, desert). Primary goal is to save whatever has to be saved...

Screenie:

Here's my shot at it:

Special
Team
Of
Rescue
Missions

As you can see, it sounds a bit lame... at least to me. But, hey: cyborgname websitecame up with even worse acronym :)

So, if any of you have any idea, please tell me. Your name will be listed in credits and you will get a free copy of the game.
