Well I'll be... Thanks y'all, that worked!
There's always "that one thing" that's so easy to overlook, but at least now I know what the header is for  :)

If any of you want me to make you something, don't hesitate to PM.

I really wish I'd avoid having to come begging for help but I'm at my wit's end here.
Basically, I thought It'd be a good idea to have a basic response for my character not wanting to interact with various characters, hotspots, objects, etc.
Something as simple as him saying "No, I won't do that" and nothing more.

But, I seem unable to comprehend very basic instructions, and it doesn't help that I find programming (and math) somewhat daunting.
Also doesn't help that I've found multiple conflicting statements on how to do things,
though I know there are many was to accomplish the same goal. I struggle to find even ONE.

Now, I know that I'm supposed to reference the custom function from the global script, something like
Code: ags

function nope()
{
cCharacter.Say ("Nope.");
}

and then in the room script say
Code: ags

function hThing_Look()
{
nope();
}

Or at least I thought it was that simple, but then I read about having to put 'import/export' or something ahead of the function I'm trying to call.
So to summarzie: Not only do I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I just don't know how to do it, period.
If anyone would be so kind as to attempt to guide me through this little conundrum step-by-step, I will be very thankful and make you a character sprite if you like.

Spoiler

It's 'Self-portrait' by Joseph Ducreux.

-This is far from finished but given the circumstances I deem it acceptable enough to upload.
-Once again a process of trial-and-error with a limited palette (the standard Paint colors).
-You can see where most of the time and details went into.
-I'm happy about the pose, which ain't 100% copy/paste but still fairly recognizable.
-I have never been good with clothes, in fact I'm not even sure what that particular fashion is called.
-Had to improvise from the waist down, using referential material seen here and here.

Oh, and since I should technically be disqualified, vote for someone else. I just wanted to show off :P
Have a great day.

Forgive me for asking but I tend to confuse the meaning of certain words:
Does deadline mean "up until" or "show your work, right NOW!"?

In case of the latter, I may have possibly missed the deadline.
Can I still upload my work however, if I specifically tell people not to vote for it? :P

I'm working on mine.
Hopefully I manage to complete it before the 4th.

Congrats to the winners! Well deserved.

And luckily, green is my favorite color :P

2, 3 and 4. Tough choices though.

A Commuter Feeder wouldn't be too out of place in an Earthbound/Mother game :)

Hope I'm not too late.
I could probably have done a lot more on this but here goes:

Fin Xarfax, Hydra Accountant.

Reminds me of poop.
...
Or a subway system.
It's a stool :P

I might come up with something - for participation purposes - but I dread the possibility of actually winning.
Making topics takes way too much effort for this low-energy fella.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Wow, time moves really fast some times.
Anyway, time to announce the winners. That is to say, all who participated 8-)

1st Place:
With a whooping 3 votes; Scavenger! :cheesy: Congrats, a winner is you.

2nd Place:
Shared second place to Grok and Cassiebsg, with one vote each.

That means these two goes straight to the furnace :cheesy:

Thank y'all for participating, and have a good one.

I was messing around a bit and came to the conclusion you might want to "soften" the tips on the moustache (nevermind that other stuff)
by adding a color that is darker than the skin but lighter than the moustache, preferably a shade of gray. Hopefully this is useful.

Gonna bump this once since modified posts don't count.

Voting time. With only 3 entrants I think it's best to limit this to 1 vote per person, so think long and hard before voting (just not too long :()
Also remember you will only be voting for best design of a non-human sidekick. Pay no attention to the humans.

The following entrants are:

Grok, with this cool cat!

Cassiebsg, with this dinosaur-looking thingie!

Scavenger, with this pet racoon!

I'll count the votes in about a week from now. Good? Good.

Just go for it. It doesn't have to be 100% original.
There's only been 2 entries so far.

I'm probably not the right person to be doing this because that sprite is more than I could ever do but regardless...
I thought the hat in the original might have looked a bit big, so what I did was darken the squares were the eyes normally would be,
attempting a kind of "blending effect" with the brim and the shade.

To me it looks like he looks more straight-forward now, though it might not look as good if you zoom in on it.
Oh well, that's spriting for ya.

Heh, thanks a lot for the encouraging words ;-D

In regards to your question, uh... I, should probably take that into consideration, shouldn't I?
