Hints & Tips / Re: Roccio's Quest
Sat 20/01/2007 04:43:02
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I have missed something.

I need to obtain the seat but...
Spoiler
I am unable to give the trashcan to the bongo player.  When I try to give it to him Roccio keeps saying "No, it's mine." Do I have to do something to the trashcan first.

so if anyone gets the cheat can thay tell me it knowing me i cant get 1000 points :'(

I think there is a bug in the game where you can keep getting extra points for doing the same thing over and over again.  It was a long time ago that I played this game but I remember that if you keep talking to the guy standing outside the school over and over again (I believe it was when I played as the girl but you should try with all 3 characters and exhaust all dialogue options over again) you can keep getting points.  Other than that you can get a lot of points by answering the quiz questions correctly at the end (you can look up the answers to them ahead of time online).

I encountered this same problem and I think the trigger might be that you have to try to open the door to the room the doctor is in (basically, I clicked every icon on that door).  I them received a message that "it's not the right time yet" (or something like that).  Then I walked back into the room where I started the game and it triggered the cutscene so I could continue the game.

When you check the computer in the clothing store you can scroll down the page to look at more e-mails.  There should be one there talking about a synagogue that Jack Lauder is a member of (at the very bottom of the e-mail list.

Have you gone to the other synagogue yet?  There is an e-mail on the clothing store computer regarding another synagogue.  Search for the name of that synagogue on your computer to find an address (and open up another location for you to go to).  Be sure to look at the photos when you get there to find out Ethan G.'s full name and then do a computer search of his full name. in order to get the gun away from the Rabbi.Ã,  Get as close to him as possible (this will require stalling him once, and getting shot twice when you try to grab his gun).Ã,  Then sit on the balcony and admire the view.Ã,  He will turn away to look at the scenary and you can grab his gun.Ã,

I'm enjoying the game so far.Ã,  However, I don't like having the ability to save over old files.Ã,  Everytime I save I have to create a brand new save file.Ã,  Since I'm somebody who likes to save frequently and try every conversation branch (I'm obsessive, I know), this can get a bit tiresome.Ã,

Update: I completed the game and I really enjoyed it and because I liked it so much my only complaint (aside from the save situation) is that the game isn't longer.Ã,  It was a lot of fun discovering all of the different endings especially the ones involving moral dilemmas.Ã,  A highly enjoyable game with realistic character reactions (especially Mrs. Lauder and Rabbi Stone).

Marlamoe, I had the same problem but I figured it out:

Spoiler
You have to go up to the cave (by the telescope) first and complete the first part of the crypt puzzle.Ã,  At that point you will discover that you need an item that the fisherman has.Ã,  Also, I believe that you have to talk to the bearded man about the crypt (after doing part one of the puzzle) in order to figure out that you need to get the fisherman to leave his hut.

I am curious as well about how to use this key.

Spoiler
Immediately after the shootout the game goes directly to the credits.  Are we supposed to get the key somehow before being placed in the jail cell?

I've found some bugs:

- the game crashes to the desktop when I start a new game unless I play it in a window
- unable to save over existing save games
- can only load the most recently saved game (cannot load older saves)

This isn't really a bug but hotspots to leave screens are very hard to find (especially if I have to play in a window so the game doesn't crash).

Overall, a nice short game.

I found this to be quite an enjoyable game with nice atmospheric touches.  The graphics were very good and cut scenes were enjoyable although my computer tended to crash when cutting to them so I had to skip some of them.

I found the interface frustrating, though, as I do not like using the keyboard and mouse at the same time.

Also, for the part involving the CD player, it would have been nice to have the option of just exiting and NOT playing something...but that's just because I was too lazy to run upstairs and grab some CDs.  Also, upon replaying the game one of the CDs that was acceptable the first time through, was rejected the next time - confusing.

As well, not being able to save over games was quite annoying.  I had to start saving them as "one", "two", "three" because if I didn't use distinct names for each save, I couldn't restore the game I wanted to.  Also - F7 should not be used as a save button - I did this on one occassion thinking that I was restoring a game but I actually saved instead (no problem, though, since you're not able to save over anything).

Overall, quite a good game and considering that I stuck through all of these problems and crashes, it means that your game is pretty good in my opinion if I played through until the end.  :)

I need some help getting the 3rd ending:

I'm not sure if this is the puzzle you are talking about, but if it is the one you have to checkmate the king with one move, keep reading...

only the bravest knight can beat the king

Excellent, that was the answer to my question - thank you so much, ikari!  I didn't realize that was the last puzzle in the game.

For puzzle #3

Spoiler
I cannot quote you the exact moves as I have already completed that portion of the game and can't replay it again.Ã,  Resist your temptation to capture the pawns.Ã,  The bishop should be moved so that it will be able to attack the king if it is forced to move by the rook.Ã,  The movement of the rook takes 2 steps: move it across the bottom of the screen first and then move it in a position so it is right next to the king at the top of the screen.Ã,  That should be enough info for you to figure it out.

If anyone has completed puzzle #7 (it keeps crashing on me - so annoying) I would appreciate some help.

I finally found the secret area - it's quite a pixel hunt and he's falls extremely fast (but I guess that's the whole purpose of an Easter egg).

And if I downloaded the game a couple of days ago, then the fix is not fixed?Ã,  So I cant see the secret area?

Rosie:Ã,  As long as you go back to an earlier saved game from before you killed the demon you should still be able to get to the secret room - I'm currently still trying to figure out the secret.

Is there a more overt hint you can give me on how to find the secret area?  I've died numerous times already and I think i've tried everything.

Spoiler
When Morty's falling the only things I can seem to look at, talk to or interact with are Mordy and the spikes.  I've tried clicking all of my inventory items on both Mordy and the spikes but he can't seem to use any of them except the red mushroom (I thought that if he turned into the bunny he might be able to hop away but this didn't work)

This game is amazingly funny - the character comments were great and I liked how there was such a large variety of them especially when trying to interact with things that couldn't be interacted with (not just repeating "you can't do that" or "that doesn't make sense" over and over again).  There was obviously a lot of thought put into the little things in this game (like the saved games being given a file number, the different selections that can be made on the radio system, etc.) and that's always a nice touch.

The puzzles can be a little bit wacky but they always made sense within the framework of the game and were unique, fun, and not mind-numbingly-want-to-stab-yourself-in-the-eye-difficult.

My only complaint (and it was brought up previously) was the inability to save over previous saves until all the slots were full but this is a minor thing when looking at the grand scheme of things.

I'm looking forward to the next 2 installments - hilarious way to end the first game by the way.

Hints & Tips / Re: Return to Civilization

For those who are interested - complete lists of the 13 ways to die and the 7 treasures and where to find them.Ã,  I highly recommend trying to discover them all by yourself by replaying the game again as it is more fun that way.Ã,  But for those who are really stuck - here they are:

13 Ways to Die:
Spoiler
(1) light match; (2) go into mine without lantern; (3) eat the pills; (4) run into the lava; (5) die in the cannibal's pot (before adding the mushroom to the pot); (6) get eaten by the man-eating tree; (7) enter the spider cave before using the beer; (8 ) get eaten by crocodiles; (9) take the crown; (10) eat the mushroom; (11) get bitten by the butterfly (catch it before using the spider web); (12) drown in the quicksand; (13) dig in the cemetary without protection
[close]

7 treasures - the emerald eggplant that you start off with doesn't count as a treasure:
Spoiler
(1) jewelled flamingo: in mouth of statue at start screen; (2) ruby medallion: in hot coals (use the metal rod); (3) gold coin: in garbage can outside trading post (tie the seaweed to the coin before using the dispenser so you can keep the coin); (4) ruby leech: in the rose's petals; (5) crystal goblet: in skull (after spiking the cannibal's pot); (6) Farr diamond: dig in area next to quicksand; (7) golden butterknife: from dispenser (remember to use the seaweed with the coin)
