AGS Games in Production / Re: Melvin's Odyssey

Thank you all for your kind words! And thanks to the whole community here for answering my questions (even those I didn't have to ask, as they already have been answered somewhere here in the forums)!

AGS Games in Production / Melvin's Odyssey
Sat 12/12/2020 22:16:17

In the early 1990s there was a hero named Melvin.
Actually, he wasn't really a hero, but then some strange things happened in his little town.
And maybe not only there...

Features:
- 320x180 mouse-drawn pixels.
- original 8-Bit-chiptuneish music & sound effects
- maybe spaceships weather balloons

Progress:
Yes.

I think the problem is that we've been creating a "me" culture for quite some time now.
Whenever I see someone claim "My body, my choice" in relation to wearing a mask, I sigh and think "me, me, me... it all handles about "me"... fk everybody else".  :~(

Well said!!! And then even one step further below those people we have the pandemic deniers, most of whom are also either flat-earthers or Qanon or anti-vaxxers or anti-5Gers or, in many cases, all of the above.

This!

Although Flugeldufel sailed to new horizons after the release of the first episode, I still work on the series from time to time.
Hi Creamy, good to see that the brothers are back!
Due to very little time in the last months I decided to focus on my main project. But all the best for these two guys, maybe I'll find some spare time someday to contribute some graphic stuff again  :)

Yeah, it works. You're right, the movement isn't as smooth as before, but for a low-res old school game it's not that crucial...
So, no hurry - I just wanted to know if there's something wrong with the module or I'm just stupid  ;)

And thanks again for your fast help!

Oh thank you for your quick response  :)
I‘m currently on the phone, but I will test it within the next hours, as soon as I‘m at home.

Hi eri0o, first of all thank you for this awesome module. But now I noticed something - no big issue, but a little bit annoying. When the player walks in a scrollable room from one edge to the other, the background ends a few pixels too soon. When he walks back again, the same happens to the other side (as shown in the picture). So after one walk to the other edge and back, both edges of the background are cut off.  ???

The Game's resolution is 320x180, the rooms are of different width, but it happens in every scrollable room.
I'm using the latest AGS Version (3.5.0 Patch 4) and no other modules (except 'Tween' of course)

Thanks and sorry if I missed the answer somewhere...

Congratulations to everyone!

I also like the cat's idea. There are too many good entries and too little categories. It's very hard to choose.

That looks like a game that I want to play. Now.

Very nice atmosphere, great style!

Concept: Kastchey - I'd love to see this finished.
Playability: Alan v.Drake - I want to play it right now!
Artistic Execution: Alan v.Drake - It's lovely, the style, atmosphere, details, everything.

Unfortunately I can only pick three, they're all great.

That's great Flugeldufel! It looks like an early LucasArts game. Lovely entry. There's only one problem: I want to play it!
"Use dragon poo with well"!
Yeah, maybe someday I‘ll find some time for making a game like, uh, „The preposterous adventures of Knighty McKnightface“ or something...

Late as usual, here's my entry.
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your datassettes!

And thanks Kastchey, for bringing the competition back.

My votes:
Concept: Creamy - it's kind of surreal like a weird dream - and I had to grin, when I saw the full picture. Very cool!  :-D
Artistic Execution: Deabriel - I like that background, it could be from a DOTT / Sam & Max game. (my second favourite style. My favourite's the old LucasArts/Indy style, but that's an easy guess I think  ;) )
Playability: lorenzo - this one could've won all other categories as well - a masterpiece!

I also like cat's Game Boy picture very much, but there are only three categories.

Ah oh. I just realized something. Is this open through the end of today or has it already technically ended?
I hope it's still open, here's my entry. I started a bit late, so it lacks some polish...

No other feedback?
I already voted, but didn't have any time to write a feedback

If you need and want help for a future MAGS, let me know.
Thank you! Maybe I just need a little more coding practise. But now it's time to play the two games that've been submitted in time.  :)
