Well Done Dave, I've been trying to make an adventure game since the 90's but never achieved anything close to what you have. Definitely something to strive for. Crongratulations on creating a great empire in Wadjet Eye.

AGS Games in Production / Re: King's quest 4

this looks really exciting! the programming may be difficult however, since kq4 was a pretty advanced game, with day/night cycle, timing, etc.

best of luck!

nice work on all the mini games, but if we added up all the time wasted releasing mini games then the actual game could probably have been finished by now.

Looks great! What's the ETA?

Good to see we're still driving cars in the future.

I remember this game! It was definitely one of the better full AGI games back in the day (circa 2001?)

Looking forward to seeing more!

I'm interested. Would you be looking at doing another fantasty/fable style or something different, like sci-fi, or adventure(in the traditional sense), or something else?

When I think of using Blender, I think of the awesome graphics style of the longest journey. Which looks great.

Inkscape however I dont think would be suitable for backgrounds, but for cartoon style characters it could look good.

If you're serious, I've been thinking about joining a team for a while now, I can code, write, design and other stuff too :)

don't worry about the music - it's not as if you're passing it off as your own or making money from it.

The biggest problems were stated by Khris.

I've still got the original boxes from Kings Quest 1 to 4, Space Quest 2, Colonels Bequest, QFG2, plus a few others, but of course I didn't look after them so some of it is missing.

But recently I've been inspired to collect all the original versions (ie boxed) of Sierra's AGI and SCI games. I've had a bit of a look on ebay, and most are either CD-ROM collections (not interested) or fakes.

Anyway, if you're a collector, where do you find them?

Could it be done? How would you do it? I suppose most adventure games are already like groundhog day, in that you dont know what to do until you repeat the game and progress a little further each time.

I guess a game of GD could be that you have to do all the tasks he does in the movie before the day is out. If it were timed then there would be a sense of urgency and a learning process. If you dont finish the tasks then the day starts again.

What do you think?

Critics' Lounge / Re: Perspective Doldrums....

I think its fine except for the row of bricks above the horizon. At the vertical line where they meet the back wall the veritcal pixel height should be the same as the rest of the bricks below (or at least close). As the row continues towards the viewer the pixel height should increase to the point where you can't see the top of the brick closest to the viewer.

I replayed the dig over the weekend, and I have to say as ground breaking as the game was, the dialogue (especially the intro) was terrible. The premise was a bit of a joke too (they're all so casual about saving earth like it happens all the time).

I'd be curious to read the book, but from the sounds of it it's not much better.

They look great. Like someone else mentioned, the dithering is a bit fuzzy. But the design and positioning is good. Perhaps the background features (in the distance) could use a bit more detail. Especially the scene with the statue.

I love the souvenir shop scene!

hey the graphics look great, but am I the only one who doesn't quite get this image:

it hurts my head to try and understand this image. is it a hole in the wall, then if it is its badly drawn. I just can't get my head around it. Or is it some weird spacial warp or something???? maybe it would make more sense with context and animation.

you're not the only person - I'm still making AGI pictures every now and then.

As for the pics - well they're not my style, but youve made good use of colour and they look pretty good. If you're going for the sierra feel I dont think you've quite nailed it, but otherwise, keep up the good work!

FWIW, I like the new name. That screenshot looks great too.  Looking forward to trying out the next version.
