It is risky getting involved with people you meet online but it can work. I met my wife of two years online. I lived in England and she lived in Scotland, so there was quite a bit of distance involved. I eventually got up the nerve to go and see her and it went from there.

As I say, we've been married two years now and she is pregnant with our first child due in September.

So, yes, it can work :)

Bump to say there is a further update above, and one last screenshot.

Here's a clue:

Spoiler
You need to contact the professor on your phone first.  After that, go to your room and he will call you back with some information. You should be able to proceed with the clue he gives you.

Well, I just finished the game, and I in my personal opinion, this is the best yet. The sound, atmosphere, story, dialog and graphics are all spot on. All of the characters were very well done and each one had a distinct personality. The puzzles were all logical and at no point was I lost for long without any clear idea of what to do next.

The only real gripe I had was I wished there was more background on the ghost, who it was, why it was there and so on. But that is minor. Overall, it was a great experience.

Top stuff.

EDIT: I did notice two small bugs.

Spoiler
The cursor seemed to get stuck on the arrow pointer after coming out of the inventory sometimes and the only way to change it was via the popup GUI at the top.

Also, the notepad didn't update at all after advising me to find the key in the lobby, storeroom and stairwell.

Just a note to say there is a new update and an additional screenshot above.

Thanks, at least I ALMOST got a vote for nomination, which is more than I expected. :)

This just means that you have set up an interaction somewhere to display a message that doesn't exist. Check your rooms and so on to see where you made the mistake.
#9
Ahh, mine is version 1.00. That explains it then :)

Very nice game,  very imaginative. However, I think I found a bug...

Spoiler
I used the chromakey on myself and tried to leave the hotel but I got a message about having to find tess first that constantly repeated and stopped me doing anything else so that I had to leave the game.

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars Movies
Thu 24/02/2005 19:42:58
I have very mixed feelings about the prequels so far. I have no knowledge of the EU at all so I'm not biased towards things fitting into the whole mythology except perhaps fitting into the OT. I actually enjoyed the two prequels the first time I saw them, but they lost their appeal with later viewings, mainly because of some patchy elements which really seemed to stand out as being out of place or forced. One thing that really struck me was the fact that Jar-Jar was pretty much missing from the second movie. This almost seemed as though Lucas was doing what the fans wanted (since almost everybody hated the character) and making it up as he went along.

Personally, I actually liked Jar-Jar. Yes, he was annoying sometimes, but he grew on me and he had his moments. And I enjoyed the Pod racing. I thought that was one of the better segments of the movie.

Overall, I'm not looking forward to EP3 as much as I was looking forward to EP1 but I will still go and watch it, and I'll probably enjoy it :)

It has been some time since I last updated this, so I thought it was about due. Progress had stopped for awhile due to other issues taking precedence, but things are running pretty smoothly again now, and I can say that I am roughly 25% done overall. I'm still not sure how long it will be before release but hopefully not too long.

The game is composed of two parts (though it will all be released as one) and the first part of the game is getting close to being done. The second part is barely started, and that is the longer section.

I will tell everyone that I am here for loot, and more loot. I will move to the door check if it is locked, and look through if it isn't.

Just a note to say there is a new screenshot and a small update, and because this thread was looking pretty feeble with no replies. (Ok it probably looks even more feeble with only myself replying to it but it makes me feel better :)

I would like to have a shot at this too. I have been roleplaying for many years and running a RP mud online for the past 7 years.

I'll be a Halfling Thief, if it's still open.

Announcing the sequel to The Mystery of Haunted Hollow.

It is five years after the events described in the first game and AJ is now twenty. His life for the past five years has been difficult, living a life of ridicule for his unbelievable tale of UFOs and dark cults. He lives in a small apartment and works part time in a local garage, but his real passion lies in researching the dark secrets of his home town. His small apartment doubles as an office, and with the help of his friend Bernie he spends his nights delving into the mysteries that remain unsolved.

But the Hollow has also changed in five years. Ever the magnet for the strange and bizarre, the town has grown, and secrets that have long been buried, are beginning to stir again...

Progress: 15%. I am still fairly early on in the game but the story is complete and a lot of the artwork is done.

I am not sure how long it will be until this game is finished but I'll post updates as things progress.

Screenshots:

AJ in his apartment/office.

AJ's notebook. He uses this to get around town.

EDIT: 9/11/04

New screenshot below.

The game currently has 14 rooms and 5 characters so it is progressing pretty well.

The road leading to an abandoned hospital that is a major location in the game.

EDIT:  01/03/05

After several days of full time work on the game, Act One is now compete. This leaves the game at approximately 40 - 45% complete, so I'm almost halfway.

A few statistics:

Rooms so far: 25
Characters so far: 12
Inventory items so far: 20
Dialogs: 19

A new screenshot below.

EDIT: 9/3/05

I am now well into the second act of the game and the end is finally in sight...just. I'm probably about 60-70% complete overall. The majority of the rooms are in place, there are a few characters still to add, and then its just scripting to do.

The screenshot below will be the last one posted before the game is complete.

I have to admit to being lazy with the ending. Instead of doing a menu, like I should have done, I just decided to go and plunk the player back into the starting room again. I just assumed that players would quit from that point after having the end game text. I think I was just oo impatient to get the game released, and too excited about my first game.

If I ever finish my second game, I promise I'll make more of an effort to polish it off :)

Thanks for all the nice comments. Nice to see some people are still playing the game :)

Steve is a cowboy *something* and I think... Tamlyn docks her boat in the disabled space..

And it looks like it's: Larry is the one with the long hair...

That's about all I can make out though :)
