I always say the same. I'm not one for sentiment, but I feel some kind of duty to keep one foot in the AGS pool.

I think I first posted here when I was 13.

I know I'm not active here any more, and you probably don't even remember me now, but I always felt a small grain of... say, affinity with this place. It seems sort of proper to visit every now and again.

Uuuuggggh this is so pedantic.

I posted it in the C&C forum to start with. I said I didn't really want any criticism because I can't change anything, but I don't care if people want to go ahead and say whatever they want.

For God's sake, I really don't see why it caused such a bloody furore in the first place.

No offence, but I really think Prog should have just let it lie; it was fine where it was. There's such a thing as over-moderation.

Y'know, I'm thinking I should just ask for it to be moved back as any feedback is pretty much going to invariably be C&C *rolls eyes

Well... not quite drawing. I use facebook's graffiti app to make these:

The app is very simple. It has opacity, brush size (always circular in shape), and colour. You do the rest yourself. There's lots of layering and such, and by the end there's usually so many layers that the brush is lagging behind the cursor

I have fun drawing these; if I make any more I'll show them here too.

I would say increasing the gamma on the background would be a good idea.

The coupler making the two patches into crossover is intentional - It's meant to be crossover, isn't it?

I'm discounting distance for two reasons:
1) It's worked before.
2) Using just one cord makes no difference.

Once I can get the two systems linked via the ethernet cable I can do the rest. It's just that they don't seem to want to link up.

Well, it's worked previously. It's just a method of connecting my Dad's laptop to my PC so we can share the internet connection. Nothing greater than that.

What are the operating systems of the two computers?

Are there any firewall programs running on any of the two?
My computer has Norton Business Edition, but lowering it doesn't help.

Which IP addresses and subnet masks did you set up?
I didn't... as far as both computers are concerned, the LAN connection is 'unplugged'.

Can you ping the other PC?

crossover from pc - laptop network card surely?

I'm not sure. It's worked before. I'm using a plug and play card.

Hey guys, I'm trying to network my computer with my Dad's laptop, but the LAN isn't being recognised. Currently I'm using this setup:

PC ->  Patch cable -> RJ45 reverse cord coupler -> Patch cable -> Ethernet card -> Laptop.

I know that I *can* LAN these two because I have before. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? Is the coupler the right one?

I can probably answer any questions you need answering.

Can't believe how long I've been a member of this place, although my visitations have dropped sharply (used to be daily, now maybe once every two months).

Alot has happened.

Two planes into two towers changed the face of global politics.
Chelsea FC have risen to be the juggernauts of the modern game.
Spirited Away was released.
I have been to Russia, Namibia, Majorca, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Spain and Scotland.
The Gamecube died a quiet death, but the Wii looks to be a big player.
A distant relative from the USA came over to go to a LOTR convention.
I've started two books. Ceased writing one; the other is in progress.
I lost my ability to write MIDI music. I don't know why.
I lost my ability to write poetry. I don't know why.
I have passed my GCSEs and A levels and am in Leicester University studying English.
The Bird Flu scare had me going for a while.
I am no longer a virgin.
I've built my own computer.
One of my cousins has married.
I rode my first rollercoaster.
I know how to pronounce 'paella' now.
Hitman: Blood Money is my game of the year so far.

... and the catalyst for the post. We broke up just recently. Mutually. Amicably. Devastatingly.

Currently I'm trying my best to make sense of my life and figure out what's going on, and what I need. I've decided to try and stick to some advice from Polonius in Hamlet - a dubious character, maybe, to take advice from, but...

I'm hoping that 'man' includes me.
